This microwave brings microwave cooking to a new level. We've used our previous microwaves for reheating many items and steaming vegetables, but not much else. They cooked meats when you were trying to defrost them and cooked foods very unevenly. This one looks everything very evenly and defrost like a charm. We now are finding ourselves cooking something from most every meal in the microwave! The only problem we had learned to use it was determining how long to cook items. With 1250 W, it's much more powerful than most microwaves, so you have to go lower than the recommended time for most menu items.

I installed this microwave NN-SE782S in a custom built enclosure with a trim kit. After 4 months, the door would not open. I made two 108 mile round trips to drop off and pick up from the service center. I reinstalled the MW and the third time I pushed the button the door would not open. Now I have to make two more 108 mile round trips. I would throw this piece of junk away and buy a different brand but the screw holes from the trim kit would be visible, along with the fact that the cherry cabinet now has a permanent difference in the finish where the trim kit was covering the wood. I notice that a similar model, NN-SE797S, which has been in production since 2007, has what appears to be the same door latch. This model has also had complaints about the door. So that tells me that even though Panasonic had a history of door problems for 5 years before releasing the 782S model, they went ahead and sold them with what appears to be the same the defective design.

Excellent Microwave with large interior
By the Ls
Comments about Panasonic Stainless Countertop Microwave:
Our previous microwave just died and repairs would have cost more than a new microwave, so we replaced. While some people complained about the iPod Touch style ring that you slide your finger on to choose time, we have found it to be intuitive and easy to use. The interior is a much more useful shape than our previous microwave from another manufacturer, fitting our browning plate with ease. Some complained about the volume of the beeps, but they are not intrusive--just right. The display is easy to read in all lights. The most important feature is that this oven microwaves very well. We have yet to find an item where it does a poor job. It reheats especially well. While we were not thrilled with paying double what our previous microwave cost in 2009, this unit is definitely worth the extra cost. The stainless steel is not simply an applique, like some manufacturers have done; it is fully stainless steel on the sides with black plastic portions mixed with the ss on the front. A very good purchase. We just hope that it endures as long as our first microwave that kept cooking for over 20 years.

Panasonic NN-SE782 1.6 Cu Ft Microwave
from Boston, MA, USA
This microwave seems to heat very evenly. The inverter based power setting (rather than full on, off intervals) seems to work well at re-heating without causing popping. Our older microwave only had full on, off modulated power settings and had a tendency to cause carrots and other items to explode sometimes while so far this one does not. The touch ring to set time is a bit gimmicky. A real knob would have been easier to use. I can see a cleaning advantage to the touch ring compared to a knob though. Only downside so far (after 2 weeks usage) is that it is definitely louder than our previous microwave. Not obnoxiously so but enough louder to notice. We share see if the door latch failure mechanism reported in other reviews hits us and if it just works long term.

This was a gift from my sister when she found out out old microwave oven had given out. The unit is smaller than our old one but the interior capacity is greater. We like the look of the exterior. We are still getting used to the dial versus buttons but overall like this oven.

All is fine except the dial control
This is my second Panasonic microwave. Everything is fine except I am not impressed with the "electrostatic dial control". Why there isn't an actual dial (as in my previous model) I can't fathom. You run your finger around the inside of the dial rather than turning the outside. It is much harder to get the exact time you want.
Love this Microwave

We recently ordered the 1250W 2.2 Cu. Ft. Convertible Microwave NN-SE982S microwave directly from Panasonic and are very happy with it. It looks good and is very spacious. The dial is so much easier to use than punching in numbers. The Sensor Cook feature is really nice, it cooked a whole sweet potato to perfection. So far we are very satisfied.
Very sleek and modern design.

About Me Avid Cook
Really like the sleek design and light color (blue hue) . I researched many different types, prices and features, along with any reviews and this brand/model went to the top of the list. Once I started using the microwave I noticed somewhat of a problem. I have it on its own microwave stand. After heating the food, when I push the button to open the door the microwave shifts backwards. We usually need to brace the top of the unit to open the door, so it won't shift. My worry is it might shift right off the stand. It works great and all the features offer so many options. I would give 5 stars if not for shifting. The problem Is the button that opens the door. It's hard to push in. I would love to get that modified.
Service and delivery comments:
My delivery took about 5 days. UPS delivered right into my house. The box was in perfect condition and was very easy to set up.

Excellent Product, Features and Value

We had an old Quasar Microwave Convection oven that was 22 years old and was finally ready to be replaced. We didn't use the Convection part so we looked for a replacement that was similar in size and features without the convection option. This and the model just below this were the two we narrowed our search to. We chose this one, as the selector dial did not protrude from the front panel. This has not disappointed us. The oven size, even with the turntable, allows for family sized cookware to be used. It took a bit to get used to the touch wheel, but once you get used to it it is easy and very intuitive. We love it and hope to get a good run of time with this microwave.
