Comments about Zojirushi Black Home Bakery Breadmaker:

I use the product to make a bread that will coordinate with the meal I will be serving when unexpected company is due for dinner. I make the bread first and not only is it a wonderful accompanyment when the guests arrive but the house still smells delicious. The machine spends its time on the bread doing the work giving me time to make the canned ham, potatoes and salad. The meal comes together appealing to your sense of taste, smell, visual quantity including size and color.

I was impressed on how quickly my machine was delivered.

My first couple of loaves were less than adequate. But 100's more after were excellent! I originally used only King Arthur flour, I switched to Aldi brand at 25% of the cost! It comes out great! Nutritious, delicious, simple to use. Actually, could use new pans.

Comments about Zojirushi Black Home Bakery Breadmaker:

I make bread 3-5 times a week and each loaf is consumed rapidly for breakfast, school and home lunches, and leftovers become bread pudding and French toast. I love baking with a good bread machine and I'm pretty good at it.

My previous bread makers were both Panasonic SD-YD250s (the last of which I bought from Abt) and I liked them very much; I could play them like a violin, frequently throwing breads together off the top of my head without consulting a menu and knowing that it would turn out OK.

I tried the Zo mainly out of curiosity, the opportunity came due to an unfortunate bread machine incident (suicidal leap off the counter onto the stone floor) in which my last Panasonic met its fate.

The Zo is very well put together, and operates quietly and competently. My first few loaves were disappointing. I ascribe this to overconfidence; after a very frustrating two weeks of eyeballing and approximating (as I was able to get away with with the Panasonic) I finally tried a few of my favorite recipes from Electric Bread, using only the best ingredients, and followed the directions very carefully. Lo and behold, the results were excellent: great French bread dough, great rye, great oatmeal white. The loaves are more horizontal than the loaves produced by the Panasonic, more like a 'normal' loaf of bread, and better suited to making sandwiches.

I expect that after a few years with the Zo I'll be able to work with it as confidently as I once did with the Panasonic. Meanwhile my subjective experience is tells me that the Zo requires more attention to detail.

I'm not sure if I like the recipes that come with the machine. From my limited experience I see them as heavy on flour and light on water, leading to dense dry loaves. As I mention above, recipes from Electric Bread seem to work very well.

Overall this is an excellent machine. It's built well, operates well, and with attention to detail produces great bread and dough.

Comments about Zojirushi Black Home Bakery Breadmaker:

I've only had the bread maker 3 weeks, I have made several loaves of bread, a cake and a couple of quick breads & everything has turned out beautifully. It is so easy & fun to use. In this hot weather it is nice to make the cake or quick bread so you don't have to turn the oven on. I am looking forward to making the jam with it.
