BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

This disposal is so quiet! My previous one was also a GE, but was much, much louder. This one is like a cat purring. The cover does not always easily turn the batch disposal on, though. Sometimes, care must be taken to align the cover with the pin to turn it on.
