This is the most convenient and spacious fridge we have ever owned. My wife loves the storage capabilities and roll out features. A lesson we learned was that upon installation we placed all of the food and drink items we use constantly in the left side door, which contains the in-door icemaker unit. We were not pleased with the size or quantity of ice produced. Duh!!! We quickly figured out that the family was opening that left door 90% of the time and of course; left it open for periods of time. This degraded the quality of the ice. We simply moved all those high use foods, butter, bread, soft drinks, milk, wine, etc to the right side and our problem completely went away. The ice is now always of quality,size and plentiful.

I have owned Whirlpool/KitchenAid products for over 30 years, so I was loyal to the brand. When this new refrigerator was delivered, I loved it; however, within a couple of weeks one of the freezer door hinges began to collect thick frost. This prevented the drawer from opening easily or closing completely. A service tech repaired the freezer door seal. Within a month the same thing happened on the other side of the freezer door hinges. Yet another service call (two within two months). Again, the tech warmed and adjusted the freezer door seal to correct the problem. The problem seems to occur when we have had the A/C off in the house and there is humidity in the air. The tech tried to explain this as the cause, but that is nonsense...some houses do not have any A/C! He also said that sometimes the appliance needs to "adjust" to its new setting....what??? I fear that the quality I was hoping for in this very expensive refrigerator may not live up KitchenAid's previous models or perhaps I simply received a "lemon". Hopefully the problem is corrected...time will tell. I love the brightness (easy to see everything), most of the features are good, and the fridge and freezer cool very well. It would be helpful if the refrigerator drawers were accessible without having to open both outside doors. If I had not had two service calls in the first two months, I would have given this five stars, but I am very disappointed with the problems in a brand new appliance.

We bought this fridge about 2 months ago. We were shopping for this fridge last fall and could not find it, so we settled for the same style fridge but without the platinum interior. We came across this one and purchased it and have been very satisfied sincew the purchase. It has the calibrated fill option where you select a certain amount of water to be dispensed and it dispenses this amount everytime instead of having to hold in the lever to fill your container. The platinum interior really adds a great look to this fridge with the stainless exterior!!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

purchased this fridge 18 months ago. Ice maker drips onto food on top shelf of fridge, compressor motor is shot new one on order. Finish scratches easily and shows every little smudge. For this much money and the name Kitchenaid you would think the quality would be much higher. Extremely dissapionted with this product. Do not buy

Since I built a new home, I was in the market for all new appliances. This fridge had all the features I was looking for. The platinum interior makes it a little darker. It is a big fridge, and it was a good idea to have in brought in the house. The fridge weights a ton. Looks great in my kitchen. Knowing Whirlpool quality I also purchased the 5 year service plan at time of purchase. So far it's quite.
Love the Water Fill Feature

We bought this to get a better door ice dispenser as we had a first gen French Door. My wife picked this because of the interior color (didn't want white) I like the measured fill water dispenser, using way fewer bottles of water now.

NOISY and runs all the time

We purchased the refrigerator in Feb and it was delivered to new home in March and it runs all the time, very loud, there is sweat /moisture on items in the refrigerator all the time. Not happy at all, the retailer will not resolve the problem and stated it is "normal". It can not be normal for this to run ALL THE TIME - it sounds like an airplane taking off.
Great Style, but poorly thought out internals

I purchased this over six months ago. I love the French door style. It fits many more items than my side by side did. The freezer is more useful as well. The cons I have experienced are the ice cubes and the drainage flow. First the ice cubes provides enough for my family of four. It does however seem to melt the cubes together on the door. This may be because my kids leave the door open too long when getting items in and out. It has never clogged and not dispensed like my old one, but the cubes don't look very nice for guests. My worst complaint is the drainage into the drip pan. I had some raw meat leak out of a package onto a shelf. I thought I cleaned it all up, but an odor persisted and got worse. I had to take out all bins and shelves to clean. It seems like it really shouldn't come apart this much, but you have to remove all of it. Still the odor did not go away. I called customer services several times and they always had something else to try, but none of it worked. I even had charcoal in there for more than a week! I think the issue is that the raw meat liquid drained down a tube that goes to the drip pan. The drip pan is under the freezer and cannot be accessed. Customer service didn't even know if a representative could access it on a service call, so I didn't spend the money. I don't think they could get to it without lifting the whole thing straight up. Anyway, it took several weeks for the odor to go away. Even though I still smell it occasionally, my family cannot. The ability to clean the inside should have been considered in design, as well as access to the drip pan. You could remove drip pans in the old ones.

After reading reviews on many french door refrigerators we decided to buy this one a month ago. It is incredible! The available space and it is unmatched. The theatre lighting, shelf configuration, and door bins are excellent for putting any item in there. It is so easy to find things in the refrigerator now. And the three drawers in the freezer are very nice for organizing food. The ice maker and water dispenser are first class. I especially like the automatic dispense feature where you can set it for how many Ounces you want, press the button and walk away.
Worst refrigerator I have ever owned!

In early 2013 I remodeled my kitchen and installed all new Kitchen Aid products that included an Architectural Series Gas convection range that I really like. However, the refrigerator is another story. The refrigeration system failed at the 16 month mark. Both evaporation coils, condenser motor, and most of the electronics were replaced. Now, 8 months later, the system is low on freon and stopped cooling. The repairman charged the system but the compressor chatters and I do not think this refrigerator will ever work properly. It seems that I have bought a first run lemon. So dissappointed!

We purchased our refrigerator just over two months ago and have been so very pleased with the every aspect of the refrigerator. Food is easy to find and retrieve. We no longer have food lost or buried in the freezer, with three separate compartments, easily accessible, we always find what we need and can see what we have.
