This is the most convenient and spacious fridge we have ever owned. My wife loves the storage capabilities and roll out features.A lesson we learned was that upon installation we placed all of the food and drink items we use constantly in the left side door, which contains the in-door icemaker unit. We were not pleased with the size or quantity of ice produced.Duh!!! We quickly figured out that the family was opening that left door 90% of the time and of course; left it open for periods of time. This degraded the quality of the ice. We simply moved all those high use foods, butter, bread, soft drinks, milk, wine, etc to the right side and our problem completely went away. The ice is now always of quality,size and plentiful.

This is my second try at a review. The first one was "moderated". I have had 2 service calls and an unofficial service call on this refrigerator that was purchased December 27,2013. All for the block of ice and icicles that form on the upper back and ceiling. My refrigerator compressor will not stop running and the noise is a high pitched whirling sound. Still not fixed. Still waiting on yet another part.

Worst Appliance Decision we've ever made

BEWARE - TRUTH following - this submission is NOT part of a sweepstakes entry and therefore it is totally honest. We bought this refrigerator 3 years ago. First, as soon as we got it home we realized it was SO NOISEY! Since then, all 3 drawers have broken (not covered in warranty), the ice maker/water dispenser leaks/drips gathers water under the little drip catcher thing, but without you being able to see it. As a result, slowly water started to gather behind the door, and rusted out the front of the fridge (also, not covered..."cosmetic"). And FINALLY, about a month ago, the freezer went out, just stopped working. We spent 40+ days with the warranty company reviewing the claim, during which time the FRIDGE also started going out. They've sent TWO separate service providers out to try and fix it - BOTH of whom told them it wasn't worth fixing (seriously - an appliance that should last 10 years is so bad its not worth repairing after 3?! - two separate control boards, a compressor, etc), finally the warranty company said Kitchen Aid would fix it - IF WE Paid for it up front. You have to be kidding!! Today the warranty company said they will replace it with a similar Kitchen Aid (which received 1.4 stars on other review sites and is now...only available to ship direct from Kitchen Aid - hmmm - I wonder why?!). So, we paid and incredible amount of money 3 years ago for the PLEASURE of an awful appliance, tons of spoiled food, crazy inconveniences (try feeding a family of 5 in the Phoenix heat in the summer without a working freezer or fridge!). RUN - do not WALK away from these Kitchen Aid refrigerators!
Worst Quality Refrigerator You Can Buy

I have had to have this unit serviced 3 times in 3 years. Recently this model had a recalled part (compressor fan) with a service notice from Whirlpool. Despite them knowing it's broken then made me shell out $360 to fix it. Don't be fooled by the KitchenAid brand. It's the same entry level junk they sell as Whirlpool. Complete shakedown.
Don't Buy This Refrigerator

Bought this fridge 2 years ago. At least 8 service calls later--including the one yesterday that was supposed to fix it once and for all-- and tonight, the fridge temp is 58F and the freezer is 50F. Lost most of my food today. Haven't been able to make ice since June. I rate this fridge ZERO stars, but this site requires me to give it at least one in order to submit the review--a cheap way to boost ratings!!! I'll never buy another Kitchenaid, and I'll tell everyone who'll listen about my experience.
Caution with This Model

KitchenAid (KFIS29BBB) This is our 2nd one. Bought the first in July 2013 and had repeated problems with both the freezer and refrigerator. After talking with our dealer rep we replaced it with an identical model in June 2015. It worked perfectly for 14 months and then the refrigerator section stopped cooling. No warning, nothing. One repair company said we needed a new freezer fan motor. Extended warranty company is sending out a repairman. We are now 2 weeks without a refrigerator. We're going to give it one repair and if it fails, then out the door. As for a replacement, another repairman advised us to use the KISS method.

We've had this frig for about a month and I love how spacious it is. The French doors are great and I'm able to store so much more in the freezer and refrigerated sections than I was in my side by side. My last KA frig lasted 18 yrs, but I know they're not made like they used to be. What I don't like is that it makes so many different noises all of the time. Makes me nervous. AND, I don't like the ice maker being in the refrigerator. It doesn't make ice near as fast or hold near as much as my old frig and the ice isn't as cold either. When reaching into the ice container in my last KA frig, the ice was so cold that it was dry. So if my hands were wet, the ice would stick to my hands. That's what I would expect for an ice machine/container. Not so with this one. The ice is WET which means it doesn't keep the ice near as cold as if the ice machine is in the freezer.
Worst refrigerator ever

Most expensive and worst refrigerator I've ever had. I have had it barely 3 years. Have needed repairs 4 times. Lost all my food 9 months ago. Just had the exact same problem and it's not fixed. If you wait on hold 45 minutes warranty department is rude and not helpful.
An Expensive Bad Decision

The long draw broke within the first month. Bought an extended year warranty (from another establishment), but the drawers are only covered for the first month. I didn't call right away for the replacement since I thought I had a year and called a week too late. The display for the long drawer doesn't work either. We also had one of the smaller drawers break as well all in the first year. The ice maker is so slow that it takes two days to refill. If we have a small get together (3-5 people), then we have to go buy ice. If you don't change the water filter in time then it will stop making ice and allowing you to get water out of the front. You can easily remove and reinsert the old filter to buy you some more time. Overall, I wish that I would have bought a 4 door fridge. The only reason it gets two stars is because it does keep our food cold, but I paid the extra money for the extra features that are falling short. I just feel like this product is not going to last.
