Dyson DC44 Animal Cordless Handheld Vacuum - DC44ANIMAL

DC44 Animal has a detachable long-reach wand, which is balanced for floor to ceiling cleaning. The motorized floor tool has twice the power of the DC35 floor tool, to drive the bristles deeper into the carpet pile with more force. It attaches to the wand or directly to the machine for cleaning awkward spaces. The brush bar has carbon fiber filaments for removing fine dust from hard floors. DC44 Animal has a run time of 20 minutes or 8 minutes on Boost mode. Powered by the Dyson digital motor, DC44 Animal has a fade-free nickel manganese cobalt battery and Root Cyclone™ technology for constant, powerful suction.

Key Features:

  • Root Cyclone™ technology
  • Balanced for floor to ceiling cleaning
  • Motorized head with carbon fiber filaments
  • Increased run time

Features:

  • No loss of suction
Some conventional vacuum cleaners use a bag that can clog and cause suction to drop. Instead of bags, Dyson vacuums use patented cyclone technology. Powerful centrifugal forces spin dust and dirt out of the air and into the bin with no loss of suction. DC44 has Root Cyclone™ technology and a fade-free nickel cobalt manganese battery for high constant suction.

  • Dyson digital motor
Michael Faraday discovered electromagnetic induction, the principle behind the electric motor, in 1831. Yet, despite being technologically advanced at the time, electric motors have changed very little since. Bulky, old-fashioned components and lots of moving parts prone to failure.

Dyson engineers spent a decade developing new types of highly efficient digital motors. The Dyson digital motor is smaller, lighter, cleaner and more power-efficient than conventional electric motors. Dyson digital motors use digital pulse technology, spinning at up to 104,000 times a minute (five times faster than a racing car engine).

  • Anti-static carbon fiber brushes
Static build-up causes fine dust to stick to hard floors. The brush bar on a DC44 machine has filaments made from pure carbon fiber. They help discharge static electricity, allowing more fine dust to be removed from hard floors.

  • Balanced for floor to ceiling cleaning
T he center of gravity is located towards the grip for easy handling up top, down below and in-between. The detachable wand is made from lightweight aluminium. It extends to 66cm to clean up high, down low and into awkward gaps.

  • Motorized head with carbon fiber filaments and increased power
DC44 has a motorized floor tool with two types of bristles engineered for cleaning different floor surfaces. Ultra-fine anti-static carbon fiber filaments remove fine dust from hard floors. And stiff nylon bristles remove ground-in dirt from carpets. The DC44 floor tool has twice the power of the DC35 tool, to drive the bristles deeper into the carpet pile with more force.

  • Increased run time
DC44 has a run time of 20 minutes of high constant suctionor 8 minutes on Boost mode. Other cordless vacuums may claim longer run time, but many lose suction power during use. DC44 has constant powerful suction from the moment you start to the moment you finish.

  • Dual power mode
Dual power mode gives you two power options. 20 minutes of high, constant suction for longer tasks. Or 8 minutes on Boost mode for tougher cleans.

  • Docking Station
Stores the machine and attachments when not in use. The battery can be charged while the machine is in the docking station, or separately from the machine.

  • Mini motorized tool with increased power for tough tasks
DC44 Animal also comes with a mini motorized tool with increased power for tough tasks. It removes pet hair and dirt from upholstery and confined spaces.

Yes, you have to hold the trigger down. However, the power seems to last forever because of this. It doesn't run 20 minutes from the time you turn it on. It runs 20 full minutes of you holding the trigger. I could not believe how long this lasted. Now I find any excuse I can to vacuum. I also found that it never kicks debris back at you. With having two kitties and litter every where at all times, I'm used to being pelleted when I vacuum. Not anymore!!! In addition to that, I have a bad back. Previously I had a small cordless vacuum that broke down into a Dirt Devil type handheld so I could hold it over my head or do the stairs. It didn't have the power I needed and it was still awkward. I gave up on the stairs. At least until we got the DC44. I vacuumed two flights of stairs with no problems at all. My back is fine and I'm ready for more. The suction doesn't feel uber powerful on your hand like a Shop Vac tends to but it did major damage on the debris on the floor I can't even see. We have stored our Shop Vac for wet vacuuming only as the DC44 has covered the dry. When the battery is running low, there is a light that flashes when you have one minute left. It doesn't dwindle and die a dramatic theatrical death. It just stops. I haven't found the need to have a second battery as a back up but am open to it. I think I would only need a second battery for the hard core seasonal cleanings. Family reviews of Dyson have always been high and recommended. I knew I would like it, I just had no idea how much I would love it!! What a great product! Already recommending it to friends and figuring out which family member needs it for Christmas. The only thing we are hunting for now is a way to store the additional tools we purchased for pet grooming and the like. It would be great if there was something available to snap them into like the two that came with the DC44. Perhaps there is, we just haven't found it yet. You will not regret this purchase.

The Dyson DC44 is the most powerful vacuum cleaner I have ever used. My hardwood floors have never looked better...it literaly picks up every speck of dust and the sleek design makes it easy to get to every spot and it's quick to finish an entire room. The absolute best for stairs and furniture. However... I would return it if I could because of its fatal flaw -- there is no on switch. You cannot finish a couch without switching hands because it's extremely uncomfortable to hold the button down the entire time. With such an innovative product with extreme suction it doesn't make sense that it would not include an on/off switch. Trust me... if I'm vacuuming... I want it on....especially for the amount of money I paid for this! I hope Dyson provides a 100% discount to everyone who purchased the DC44 when the new version with an on/off switch comes out.

The DC44 Animal is very easy handle. It is small, compact & light making it very to use. Its size makes getting into hard to reach places possible. It cleans very well, picking dirt very fast and efficiently.

This tiny vacuum packs a big punch

    By Anonymous

I recently bought this for my apartment and remained skeptical as to its abilities. So far, it moves and cleans well. It is easy to operate, store and clean out as well.

    Good little vacum

    By Macman66

    from Undisclosed

We recently purchased this vacum to do little clan up jobs around our house. It works fine and I like the idea os using the same device for hardwoods and area rugs. I have never used it for more than twenty minutes or so bu it still holds it's charge. Only downside is that you must constantly hold the trigger for it to un. Otherwise, it does what I xpectd it to do.

    Our Saving Grace

    By ShepherdOwner

    from Undisclosed

We are proud German Shepherd owners with the constant challenge of animal hair. We also have a house with four floors and stairs that are constantly covered in dog hair. The DC44 makes vacuuming those stairs a snap. Light, manueverable, and no cord -- I am completely able to stay on top of the challenge because the DC44 makes it so easy! It's also great for a quick vacuum anywhere in the house and the small animal hair tool does the trick on furniture. Every pet owner needs one!

    Dyson has upped its performance

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

I had an earlier model of this lightweight Dyson, and also have the larger Dyson, but this has become my whole house, easy to handle, lightweight, low noise helper!. The difference between this DC44 compared to the DC35 is very noticeable, and had I no issues with the DC 35, I wouldn't have upgraded...but this is a remarkable difference and I love it! Goes anywhere and and would also be great in a motorhome, cottage....just anywhere!

Love the DC44, but have had some problems

    By Val56

    from Undisclosed

I have had my DC44 for about 10 mths and I absolutely LOVE it, it is so easy to use that I have done more cleaning with it than I have every done in my life. However I have had some problems - which, fair to say, Dyson have sent new parts for in double quick time. So well done Dyson, but I would have preferred not to have had the problems. The first problem was that the motor kept cutting out even though I had my finger on the go button. They sent me a new motor section and it has worked fine for a few months, but I have noticed that it has started cutting out again. We'll see how it goes before I ring again. Also the soft black brush got very badly worn away (red ones were fine) - but again a new one was shipped to me. Hope this one lasts longer as they are very expensive to purchase as a replacement part.

    DC44 Animal: Highly recommended!!

    By Ggram

    from Undisclosed

I highly recommend the DC44 Animal. It is a great cordless vac that can be used to quickly clean your car, bring in to clean vents and tight spaces and later carpets, tile, wood floors. Great product and would give it almost 5 stars. I gave a 5 star rating b/c their customer support is out of this world I called b/c my charger wasn't working and without questioning they sent me a new one a few days later. Customer for life!! GG

    Meh for the money

    By usasnq

    from Undisclosed

We currently own three Dyson vacuums so we are quite familiar with the brand. The DC44 Animal is a handy tool but has some limitations that make us reach for another vacuum more times than we should considering what we paid for it. The Good: Long battery life. 20 minutes doesn't seem long but it's been more than sufficient for our needs. Handy. We have it mounted on the wall behind our basement door where it's out of the way and still be charged and accessed as needed. Weight. Very lightweight and easy to handle. Suction. Better than average when using the open tools vs the motorized beater. Design. Well thought out and pieces fit together well. Would prefer that the attachment caddie had a place for the second motorized beater head but for the most part everything can be kept together. We have to leave the second head on the floor beneath it where it gets forgotten and kicked around. The Bad: First battery died after 6 months requiring a replacement. Dyson was helpful but it should have lasted longer than it did given it's use. Beater bar needs to be cleaned just about every time it's used. It gets easily clogged with hair and debris and stops functioning. We actually bought a spare beater bar so we could swap it out after each use. Has difficulty with debris over a couple of centimeters in diameter. Our cat frequently tosses her kibble around and we were hoping this would help us clean it but it just pushes it around unless you go with just the open attachments which requires taking it apart. Same goes for ice melt etc. Small debris container. Although fairly easy to empty, it needs to be done after each use which typically sends a cloud of dust up out of the trash can. I'd prefer if we could go a few rounds before having to empty it. The trigger needs to be held in at all times which can put your hand in awkward positions while cleaning and can cause pain after prolonged use. A trigger lock would be a welcome feature. I improvised one with a strip of Velcro but it would be nice to have one built in. The suction selection button seems silly. I know it's there to save battery life but I can't think of any applications where less suction would be preferable. A flexible hose attachment would be a nice standard feature. Unit won't stand on it's own. I can't tell you how many times I've leaned it against something only to have it come crashing to the floor. We find that because of it's cost we're afraid to use it for some of our more challenging jobs like cat litter etc just in case it breaks or wears out. We treat it much more gently than a vacuum should be treated. The verdict: This is a handy niche tool that would be great to receive as a gift but I can't say I would buy it again or recommend it. There are many applications where we still use our vastly cheaper hand held with the flexible hose because it does a better job for our needs. We were hoping this would be a more suitable replacement for our larger, corded Dyson but it falls short. It's okay for a quick once over or spot cleaning of light debris but it's limitations make it our second choice in most instances.

    Great Little Vacuum

    By RachK

    from Undisclosed

I'm a college student living in an apartment with hardwood floors. This vacuum is great for my needs. It small and easy to store and it works great on my hardwoods. The canister is fairly small but is easy to empty. Battery life is great for what I need, I've never had it run out of battery while using it.
