I am very happy with my new 5 burner double oven gas range. I waited a long time to purchase a double oven range and did a lot of research before choosing. The KitchenAid had the most features for the price. Since receiving my range, I've only found a few things I don't like. One is the design of the knobs. The panel where the knobs attach is angled. While it looks nice, it reduces the surface area of the stovetop. You can get 4 pots on there, but they had better not be large ones. I also had to purchase a new 2-burner grill pan because mine would not fit on the top of the range. The burners are bit too easy to turn on. If I lean over the range (not while it's on, of course) to get a pot from the cabinet above, I bump at least one of the knobs and a message begins rolling across the panel telling me to check to see if the burners are off. One other thing that might not apply to anyone else - I live in an area where the power goes out frequently. My previous gas range burners would still operate when lit with a match. Not so with the KitchenAid. No power, no gas. Those issues aside, the range works beautifully and looks just as good. The ovens bake evenly and having 2 ovens is a dream. I will never own a single oven again. The controls are easy to operate and the glass display is easy to clean. Overall, the whole unit is easy to clean for a gas range. I ordered it in white to match my other appliances. I imagine the stainless would be more difficult to clean. The extending rack in the lower oven really makes removing heavy pots easier. I worried it would be difficult as the lower oven really is quite low to the floor. I find that I use the upper oven most often since I'm usually cooking for one. But the lower oven bakes two large trays of cookies evenly with the convection turned on. I don't miss the storage drawer as much as I thought I would, and it was worth losing the drawer to gain another oven. All in all, there are a few small things I would change, but I wouldn't give up my KitchenAid range for anything. Would recommend.

I purchased all KA appliances for my new home in 2012. This KA range has a nice 5-burner arrangement, but the high BTU burner is woefully underpowered. Has trouble boiling 6 Qts of water for pasta.The lower oven has been serviced 4 times in 2.5 years for the same problem (igniter failure), and I am now waiting for the 5th service (parts on backorder). KA's extended service contract doesn't recognize the first 2 times it was serviced under the original manufacturer's warranty, they only count the 2 services done under the extended warranty. Even though it's the same issue every time, they won't even count the 5th service toward the "Lemon clause" in the warranty because the replacement parts have not been installed yet. My other KA appliances all work fine, but for the money, this range is overpriced and underdelivers. KA's extended warranty personnel are unsympathetic and difficult to work with. I cannot recommend KA to friends and family, and would probably replace with a different brand if I could.

I only purchased this due to a rebate which I never got. The rebate was the tie breaker between this unit and a comparable LG. Shame on Kitchenaid. I have since purchased washer, dryer, microwave...all LG. Guess it was worth the $100 they kept from me. My next buy is a fridge. Guess what it'll be?

purchased this range about 6 months ago and had problems from day one. When you bake in the oven the knobs to control the range top get very hot.. I was not able to cook on top while i was baking unless I had gloves on. I burnt myself 2 times. I called kitchen aide 4 times to ask for new knobs and finally the 4th time they sent new ones! I replaced them and now it is fine. Thank you customer service person from my 4th call that finally believed me!!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Burner Valve failure

Bought this double oven gas range because I wanted a double oven with gas range when I remodeled the kitchen. Has worked mostly as expected, but had the right front burner valve go out after only 3 years. Should last longer than that. The top is also difficult to keep clean, even if you stay on top of it.The racks in the oven can be difficult to move around.

This oven is reliable and easy to clean. Cast iron grates are a MUST HAVE! Having to large pieces to clean are somehow much easier than the smaller ones. I find that I don't use the middle burner. I can't fit anything on it when I've got something on another burner. The griddle that comes with the range is perfect for cooking pancakes, sausage, or bacon. The only drawback is that the burners ignite very easily. I bump into one of the knobs while I'm cooking and the burner turns on. I have older kids, so this isn't much of a problem. (Unless we've put a pizza box on the range!) It would be a huge concern if I had little kids.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

KitchenAid gas stove is great!

This is the first time we have bought all KitchenAid appliances for our kitchen. After using them every day for over two years I can say without a doubt they perform as well as they look. The best brand we have ever purchased in the last 40 years!
Pluses and minuses

Bought all new kitchenaid appliances at the same time nearly 3 years ago. This range has great features. Love the dual ovens and convection. Stove is great. Love the griddle too. ANd the optional fifth burner is a great bonus. Here are the issues. The upper oven just does not get hot enough. For some reason it does not heat up to the same temperature as the lower oven. THis may also be related to our current issue which is that the broiler does not work now. And in fact, we've had a licensed KA repair guy in to check it out and he can not seem to figure out what's wrong. What's more it looks like the igniter is crapping out when you turn it on but the gas still come out. This issue according the repair guy is very dangerous and so he plans to come back and enlist Kitchenaid engineering team by phone in order to try and resolve. Overall, we like Kitchenaid Products but are not impressed with their service. They don't seem to have a very comprehensive data management system so when you call, they can't pull up old orders for example. They are also not very flexible w returns and repair needs.
The knobs on the front control panel are too easily turned on just enough to allow the gas to come through but not enough to for the sparkler to start. Have accidentally turned the knobs many times when working near the stove and reaching into the cupboards above or to the sides. Have had to have service work done on the control knobs at least 3 times. Glad we purchased the extended warranty because most of the failures happened after the manufacturer warranty ended. And of course now that the extended warranty is done, we have had the same failure. So now I cannot use the front right burner as it will no longer turn on. Not sure what a service call to repair it will cost. SO NOT HAPPY!
2 knobs got stuck within 2 years of buying new unit

We bought a new gas range unit Model # KGRS505XSS. Within 1 year one of the knobs got stuck in off position. We had to call in an authorized appliance expert to fix it at cost of apprx $150. Then 1 year later a different knob got stuck in off position and we're unable to turn that burner on. The failure is random in that it just shows up even when we're not operating that knob at all. We've been using different brand of gas ranges for 30 years in small family type kitchen use cases. This type of problem has never happened to us before, so we cannot even attribute this to poor use on our side. This points either to a defective unit OR a fundamental design problem. We bought KitchenAid expeting high quality and reliability. Now shelling out $150 to $200 each time is very frustrating for a new unit and we have to schedule a repair person and wait for half day window for the gentleman to show up.

Our old range had seen better days and was due to be replaced. We decided on this Kitchen Aid and are happy we did. It has exceeded our expectations. I recommend a Kitchen Aid range for anyone looking for a new one.
