Comments about KitchenAid 30" White Freestanding Gas Range:
I've had this range a month. It has a very large oven window, which makes it easy to watch whatever you're cooking. It does not come with a broiler, so save the 1 from your previous range. I wanted a convection oven option because I understood it baked more quickly, evenly & browned things better. I have not found that to be true. I baked sugar cookies that normally would bake between 8-10 minutes, they took 15 min. in the 'regular' baking mode...18 min. using the convection option. Also, the electric cord is not centered in the back; we live in an older home that does not have a behind-the-range outlet. Our outlet is just above the countertop, so it barely reached the outlet. The butter/chocolate burner works fine & is the only burner that allows you to have a very low flame. The other 4 burners have a low option but it's still fairly high. My old gas range allowed me to have a wider choice on the flame height...the 2 front burners keep things too hot at times. I was trying to keep a pot of soup warm during a holiday party & the only burner that worked well was the back one....so ladling soup from that position was messy. I haven't used the griddle yet but think it should work well. I don't care for the 2-piece grid on top...if you want to wipe up a minor spill, you need to remove the whole top & find a place to put it. It's interlocking so the 2 'locks' link in opposite directions so it's not a matter of just lifting up in front.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Overall excellent range
from Chicago, IL
I purchased this range after our 17 year old GE bit the dust. My wife and I decided not to get a double oven range because we didn't want to pick up heavy pans from close to the floor. So, this unit had the largest oven of all the ones we researched. It's massive! It has 5 burners and plenty of BTU's. I do a lot of canning and want a big burner that can heat up large pots of water quickly. This range will do the trick. I like the grate design on top because they will not move around and it is easy to slide pots around without worrying about tipping one. The display panel could use some back-lighting and the oven vents from the front, which causes the burner controls to get warm, not so hot you will get burned but definitely warm. The oven light turns on automatically when you open the door so that is a nice feature. Convection feature is something I have yet to use much but looking forward to trying it out soon. Overall, very satisfied with this product.
