The GE GDF510GDWW is a cost effective, quiet dishwasher with a nice array of features for the price point. The dishwasher capacity is quite good. The upper rack does a nice job with glassware and handles wine glasses even without the attachment. The height differential between the upper and lower allows you to place large, irregular items on the lower rack. The slotted silverware basket and it's multiple placement options also is a simple innovation which gives you a lot of flexibility for loading. Consumer Reports gave it high marks for noise and the marks were well earned. There is a secondary basket for lids and tall items. It's useful but does not always accommodate different thicknesses of spatulas, spoons and whatnot. The dishwasher does a nice job with cleaning. It's rare for every dish not to be spotless. I have found the "pods" are more effective than traditional powdered detergent. The capacity and less frequent washes offset the incremental cost the detergent. The filters are accessible and easy to clean. There are a few small cons. The run cycle seems to be long side. Also, using the heat dry, for some reason, the dishes are wetter than our old model and require secondary wiping before putting away. The higher heat function etched some of our cheap, everyday, Ikea dishes and wore the graphics off some coffee mugs, so I would use with caution with anything you deem precious. Fit, finish, meet expectations and installations was straightforward. If you're not hung-up on creating "dishwasher-envy" this model will do the job.

ating this product one star is giving it too much credit!!! I have never been so disappointed in a product in my life! We went looking at another model, but the salesman assured us this would be a better product than the one we had researched and decided on based on the excellent consumer reviews (which was cheaper than this one, btw). The product took over two weeks to be delivered. The product arrived and my husband installed it. We sat watching and waiting for it to start. It didn't. The light kept flashing, indicating the door was not all the way shut. We soon realized that the "catch" on the door of the dishwasher that indicates the door is closed so the appliance will work is TOO SHORT to click! This is not an installation problem. How could it be?! We called GE. They were closed, said to call back during business hours. My husband works business hours, like 95% of other Americans. It would be nice if they had better customer service with a little bit wider of a time frame to field calls! We taped on a piece of cardboard to extend the catch and the dishwasher proceeded to start and stop and make weird noises the entire cycle (which is WAY longer than any other dishwasher we've ever owned). It does not sound right, but the manual assures us it's normal. The dishes came out clean, but WET, despite choosing the HEAT DRY option. One day later, it will not start worth anything. As if that is not bad enough, the stupid appliance makes THE most annoying "video game sounds" CONSTANTLY. Whenever we have tried to start the dishwasher (only to have the lights flash indicating the door is not shut properly), it will beep every 60 seconds indefinitely to let you know that it's not working -- as if we didn't notice?! It also plays a stupid tune at the end of the cycle, IF you can get it to work. Did I mention there is not a way to turn off the sounds?! There isn't! Of course! I know this is not a top of the line product, but I still expect the door to close!!! This was my first and will be my last GE purchase. I can't wait to replace it with the cheaper competitor's product that we should have gone with all along!

This product came installed in a newly built condo. More often than not I need to rewash most of the dishes after they've gone through, including the heavy duty cycle. Typically the majority of dishes on the top rack still have food on them and some of the utensils. Additionally, it's a gamble as to whether or not the soap dispenser opens during a cycle. This dishwasher is now being used only as a drying rack for hand washed dishes until it is refunded and removed or replaced.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought this dishwasher in august it quit working in march
Happy with this dishwasher- although sometimes the detergent door doesn't open, which requires the load to be re-ran. Used to run very quiet not so much anymore :(

GE® DISHWASHER WITH FRONT CONTROLS GDF510PGDWW

I bought this dishwasher brand new 3 years ago and ever since then it has never fully got my dishes clean. It consistently leaves soap residue no matter what type of dish soap I use. Also, when I put it on the light cycle it still runs for about an hour and a half. This is the worst dishwasher I have ever had!

We had this installed in our house last year and am completely unsatisfied. The wash/dry cycle is 3 HOURS! And everything inside is wet when it is apparently "done". Also, lately we've noticed that the soap dispenser is not dispensing. After a full cycle the detergent will be running out of the open compartment and leaking all over the silverware.
great set up

Love my new dishwasher, works great! Might buy one for my mom.

Works Average. Make sure you do a cursory rinse of really dirty/stuck on items. Forced to use this model by a building manufacturer. Would never buy it having now used it. Not very quiet. Builder did a poor job installing it, but the method for installing is also fairly poor, 2 wood screws that you have to drive into your cabinets on either side, cheap and poor installation method can easily damage your cabinets.
Not like the old GE quality

This was the dishwasher choice of our builder--it is far from the quality we had come to expect from GE products! It's loud--takes 4+ hours to run a cycle--AND the dishes don't come out clean. We will be replacing soon with a higher quality brand. Disappointing that GE has followed suit and started to cheap out on their product likes.
