The GE GDF510GDWW is a cost effective, quiet dishwasher with a nice array of features for the price point. The dishwasher capacity is quite good. The upper rack does a nice job with glassware and handles wine glasses even without the attachment. The height differential between the upper and lower allows you to place large, irregular items on the lower rack. The slotted silverware basket and it's multiple placement options also is a simple innovation which gives you a lot of flexibility for loading. Consumer Reports gave it high marks for noise and the marks were well earned. There is a secondary basket for lids and tall items. It's useful but does not always accommodate different thicknesses of spatulas, spoons and whatnot. The dishwasher does a nice job with cleaning. It's rare for every dish not to be spotless. I have found the "pods" are more effective than traditional powdered detergent. The capacity and less frequent washes offset the incremental cost the detergent. The filters are accessible and easy to clean. There are a few small cons. The run cycle seems to be long side. Also, using the heat dry, for some reason, the dishes are wetter than our old model and require secondary wiping before putting away. The higher heat function etched some of our cheap, everyday, Ikea dishes and wore the graphics off some coffee mugs, so I would use with caution with anything you deem precious. Fit, finish, meet expectations and installations was straightforward. If you're not hung-up on creating "dishwasher-envy" this model will do the job.

ating this product one star is giving it too much credit!!! I have never been so disappointed in a product in my life! We went looking at another model, but the salesman assured us this would be a better product than the one we had researched and decided on based on the excellent consumer reviews (which was cheaper than this one, btw). The product took over two weeks to be delivered. The product arrived and my husband installed it. We sat watching and waiting for it to start. It didn't. The light kept flashing, indicating the door was not all the way shut. We soon realized that the "catch" on the door of the dishwasher that indicates the door is closed so the appliance will work is TOO SHORT to click! This is not an installation problem. How could it be?! We called GE. They were closed, said to call back during business hours. My husband works business hours, like 95% of other Americans. It would be nice if they had better customer service with a little bit wider of a time frame to field calls! We taped on a piece of cardboard to extend the catch and the dishwasher proceeded to start and stop and make weird noises the entire cycle (which is WAY longer than any other dishwasher we've ever owned). It does not sound right, but the manual assures us it's normal. The dishes came out clean, but WET, despite choosing the HEAT DRY option. One day later, it will not start worth anything. As if that is not bad enough, the stupid appliance makes THE most annoying "video game sounds" CONSTANTLY. Whenever we have tried to start the dishwasher (only to have the lights flash indicating the door is not shut properly), it will beep every 60 seconds indefinitely to let you know that it's not working -- as if we didn't notice?! It also plays a stupid tune at the end of the cycle, IF you can get it to work. Did I mention there is not a way to turn off the sounds?! There isn't! Of course! I know this is not a top of the line product, but I still expect the door to close!!! This was my first and will be my last GE purchase. I can't wait to replace it with the cheaper competitor's product that we should have gone with all along!

Comments about GE 24" Black Built-In Dishwasher:
This dishwasher was a part of our appliance package with the house we just built, and I can't say I've ever had a better dishwasher. Gets everything clean and it relatively quiet! Couldn't ask for more from it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

this came with the brand new house I bought. The dw from the apt I just moved out of washed dishes better than this one. I pre rinse/wash my dishes before putting them in dw. I have used all 3 settings on this and the dishes still have food/grease/fingerprint residue. And soap residue. Maybe the heating element for the water isn't working? And it runs for a loooong time. Very disappointed as I will be buying a different one shortly. And it's loud.

Cons: dishes don't come clean; very loud; emits high, squealing noise while running; dishes sopping wet when finished, even after heated dry Pro: Racks and bins are laid out well
Clumbsy and cheap

It takes forever to complete its cycle. Bottom rack slips off runner when pulled out every time. Soap dispenser doesn't fit the pods very well.
Washes so I don't have to!

Great little dishwasher! Dishes come out clean so I have no complaints!

Works well for the most part. Had an issue in the first month with a clog. I was able to clear the clog on my own but the dishwasher still would not drain. The technician that eventually came over told us that the dishwashers computer had to be reset in order to register that the clog was repaired and make the water pump start working again. Seems like that a little to complicated a system to me, but what do I know, I'm just an experienced mechanical engineer.
I had my last GE dishwasher for twenty years! I like this new model and hope it will be as reliable. The appearance has updated the kitchen and I enjoy the quiet cycles.
Was installed in my new house. It does not dispense the soap most times. Other times it does too late. Dishes come out with a layer of soap still on them. We have to run rinse cycle several times
It's just ok

This was contractor grade. Should have upgraded like I did with range. It is quiet . I do not care for the silverware basket.
