Yes as those who gave the machine a lousy one star rating mine would not pump water through the capsule. However rather than whine about it not working to the vendor I had purchased from I called Nespresso who was completely honest about there being a problem with this machine somewhere in the manufacturing line. Nespresso promptly sent me out a loaner machine so that I COULD enjoy their exquisite coffees while my machine was either repaired or replaced. Either way in a couple of weeks my gorgeous red machine or a new one was shipped back to me that worked without a hitch, and my faith in companies that back their products was given a boost at least by Nespresso. Name me any other espresso machine manufacturer that will send you a loaner to use while they fix your machine. So for all the people giving their one star reviews shame on you. Everyone of you had the same experience I did and yet you refuse to give the company a break on something that could have occurred anywhere on the production line ...Anyone can have a bad run of both luck and machines.

I need to start off by sayaing that I love the Nespresso coffee and Citiz machine I currently own. I ordered a new Maestria for my home so I could take my old Citiz to the office. It arrived and I followed the initial set-up instruction. To my dimay the machine would not draw water from the tank. I called and the customer service rep could not help me. They said a technician would call to help. I did some searching and it turns out many people are expereincing the same issue. If this is an issue that can be fixed then Nespresso should tell peole the steps to fix the issue. If it cannot be fixed then they should just send a new machine. I hope yours works because it makes great espressos and lattes.

Comments about Nespresso Maestria Crema Coffee Maker:
i bought first time this machine and it was defective. I send out for exchange and guess what the second one came with the same defect. Called the company they offer to send it back for repair. $550 coffe machine brand new to send for repair. Big disappointment. Wouldn't recommend this machine.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Just not great
I bought this machine over a year+ ago, prior to this - we had a D290 (i think that was the model #) - and for 10 years, never had an issue - with daily use. when i first got this (within 4 weeks, it broke and i returned it - was sent a loaner while it was repaired, got it back and once again it broke - after being sent back a 3rd time i was given a new machine - with regular use (once a day) the yellow light comes on, it is so annoying because there is no way a machine should be descaled every month. i've kept it and have used it because i prefer the external steam capability - it's no where near as AWESOME as my previous model. Oh, and the light still comes on every month, but now i just ignore it and descale when i think it needs it because i have no faith nespresso would be able to repair it.

love it, use it at least twice a day, makes great milk unlike the non-steamer nespressoo machines, and delicious coffee like all nespresso machines. am buying another for the parents!

The maestria works perfectly for me guess im lucky after reading other reviews i find the coffe exquisite as always the water temperature is fine also not too hot as to ruin the grains the only thing i've not yet mastered is how to to the milk frost its not very consistent but maybe is just me. 5 STARS
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I switched from years of using Saeco machines. I find this machine simple. It just does what it's suppose to do. No fluff, no unnecessary features. Just what you need is what you get. I also enjoy the size of this machine. I hope I don't run into any issues with it.

Steam function is not "manual"--it automatically shuts off after 1 min
I have previously owned the D290, which has a truly manual steam function--the steam will continue to come out for as long as you want it to. The Maestria has some sort of automatic shut-off on the steam after one minute of steaming. I like a LOT of milk with my coffee, I like it HOT, and I live at 9000 feet. One minute of steaming is simply not enough to do the trick. Now, I will say this is just annoying---all you have to do is move the lever back for a few seconds and then it will reset and allow you to continue steaming. All that said, stupid design. If I want steam for more than one minute, I should get it. I will say, I had none of the problems other users have noted--the machine worked upon arrival. But PLEASE, Nespresso engineers: fix this stupid "feature." Other than that, I am happy with the machine. My 3 star rating is exclusively because of the "not actually manual" manual steaming function limited to one minute....

this machin is breaking easy i had 2 and both broke with in one week. I fixed my broken D290 and I am happy ever after for the last 7 years. Please bring back the old machine and not the complicate electronic machine . Its only Coffee
