Hi. We remodeled her kitchen and I decided to purchase this microwave oven. I love the space inside so roomie, but I'm a little disappointed on what I would call missing features. I think that it would've been wonderful to see options on cooking different things, Insteqd of only using this for the reheat or defrost options. I have tried to connect potatoes before, but I was a little disappointed as they still tasted like they were cooked in the microwave. Nonetheless, the defrost cycle works perfectly when I'm trying to defrost fish or meat without it cooking in the oven. I am still very happy with this purchase.

When I moved into our new home, I was excited to see such a flashy microwave with so many features. It is installed in our cabinets over the counter top, so it didn't take us long to realize that the pull down door was very difficult to use, especially for my children. You have to be over 5'6" to be able to get things in and out of it without using a stool.I noticed when cooking items, that it takes considerably more time than much cheaper models that we had owned in previous homes. We found the sensor cooking to not work well either. The fan is annoyingly loud when running, but I could live with that. The problem is that when the "completed cooking" alarm goes off, the fan keeps going until you open the door. If you aren't right by the microwave when it beeps, it's easy to miss it and think that the microwave is still running because of the loud fan that keeps on going.I found the convection oven and crisper features pretty useless in a kitchen where we already have an oven and stove top. I guess it would be useful to have if you only had this one appliance in a camper or something, but for real life usage in a real kitchen, very sub par.

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Architect Series II Stainless Steel Built-In Microwave Oven:
I bought this because our 'Architect I' microwave/convection oven had a control panel go bad and Kitchenaid has no replacement parts available. So instead of a couple-hundred dollar repair bill we had to spend another $1700 for a new one which is an 'Architect II'. THEN we bring it home and it's not even the same size as the previous one!. It's about three inches shorter in height. So now we have to have someone come in and make a filler panel for the cabinet to hide the hole created by the new shorter unit. All of this because replacement parts are not available. Thanks Kitchenaid.

Love the convection features with this microwave as well as all other features it offers.
Worst appliance ever!

I am on my second microwave - replaced the first one in less than 3 months due to glitching error codes that would lock it up. Unable to get replacement parts (on back order forever). The second one started doing the same thing within a few weeks - have to shut down power to reset half the time. I see the appliance is off the market already, definitely a lemon! Called today, but won't come out until it errors again, leaving me without a microwave for a few days. Please replace my failing microwave that still has 5 months of warranty left...too unreliable!!!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Based on new control panel needed at 14 months, I would not recommend this oven
Haven't tried using it as a convection oven yet, but the microwave is just perfect. Big size and can fit large bowls in it.

I purchase this less than a year ago and just made my third call for service. Based on the two prior calls, it is not easy to identify the problem. But this time hopefully it will be easier. The error codes are the same as last, thus not reliable.

What a great feature - makes amazing nachos! Haven't perfected the convection oven yet!
Overall a good product

I bought this device for the convection qualities, which I've yet to try. As a 900W microwave it cooks fine, but more slowly than a 1200W so be prepared. Also the door folding down is a little awkward and makes reaching inside difficulty. The features and automatic options are adequate. I'm a big fan of using "reheat" and there are a lot of reheat options, which work "ok." I've yet to have anything reheat perfectly.ATTENTION! This is a 220V device and will require special wiring.
