I have had this fridge for a few months and it has worked perfectly. The stainless/black model is very attractive and modern looking, but isn't obnoxious looking even in an older style home. The interior layout is very functional, with a decent amount of door space for large drink containers (milk, soda, juice, etc) and condiments. In switching over from a larger fridge to this one, I did have to slim down on the number of condiments I had.. Though, there really is no good reason to have 6 different kinds of mustard! The freezer is pretty shallow, but surprisingly tall. It came with one small shelf that only spans 1/2 of the freezer and gives about 5" underneath it. I have it organized so that I can stack things that are in boxes on one side (without the shelf), and use the under-shelf area for my ice cube trays/ice bin. The freezer door holds all of my non-boxed items.I purchased this fridge for my older home that had limited kitchen space. I stuck this fridge in a closet area, with the closet door removed and the proper amount of space above/behind/around it. It has been performing well, with no functional issues. The cold adjustment has a wide range of temperatures, and it took me a few days to get it dialed in perfectly. The only issues I've had with this fridge is that the door is very thick (like all newer style fridges), so I need to keep the fridge out past the wall where it is recessed about 3". This looked awkward at first, as I thought I would be able to keep the fridge flush with the closet trim, but I am over it and no one else has noticed. I would have noticed this if my local store had the fridge in stock, and would have decided to get the fridge anyway because there is no way around it.The fridge is also reasonably loud. I like to sleep with my bedroom door open, which is right off of the kitchen about 10ft from the fridge. I can hear this fridge start up much better/louder than the other fridge I had. Maybe it is because it is in a closet and the sound echos, or maybe it is just a louder fridge. This is not a deal breaker for me, and most people probably wouldn't even notice. I only notice it at night when everything is quiet and I'm falling asleep. My only question to Whirlpool and other companies that make skinny fridges is: Why do you make them so short? I could easily see this fridge with another foot above it being MUCH more desirable to people looking for a skinny fridge. This fridge has the most capacity of any 'skinny' fridge I could find, and while it suits my needs (2 person apartment), I would have liked more capacity in the same width fridge. In my research looking for a skinny fridge, I saw lots of pictures of people using these fridges between cabinets in their small kitchens. All of the pictures I saw had at least a foot gap between the fridge top and the cabinets, or had no height restriction at all (nothing above the fridge).

This model number has "transitioned" from WRT111SFAW00 to this model number. It appears to be the identical refrigerator. Heads up - the freezer does NOT come with a full functional shelf.I purchased this product 18 months ago and it has been a problem from the start. First, the delivered unit had a material defect with the freezer door and seal before the box was even opened. See photo. The arch that appears at the bottom of the freezer door should not be there. The bottom of the freezer door should be completely straight and horizontal to the top of the refrigerator door. How did this refrigerator get past Whirlpool quality control???Because of the defect, regulating the temperature in the freezer, as well as the refrigerator, was impossible. I had tostart throwing out food because the freezer could not keep the food consistently frozen. A S@@rs technician came out to look at the unit based on fluctuating temperatures, mostly with the freezer, which wasunable to keep the temperature within the "freezer zone," as shown on 2 different appliance thermometers. The other complaint I described to the technician was the level of noise, and the pitch of the noise, that this refrigerator makes. The S@@rs technician told me the problems that I described were because the unit was not level on the kitchen floor. He did not even notice the problem with the breached seal on the defective freezer door!!! A second service call was placed; this time using an authorized Whirlpool technician. The technician, within a few minutes, noticed the problem with the freezer door. I was told that by replacing the freezer door, everything should be fine. With the unit under an extended warranty, and on a second service call, I told the technician that I wanted a new replacement refrigerator. I questioned how compromised the compressor might be for having to work so hard because of the problem with the compromised seal on the defective freezer door. I was told by the technician that would not even be considered by Whirlpool until a new freezer door was installed on the unit to see if that would fix the problem. It took approximately 6 weeks for the freezer door to arrive, and then another week for the Whirlpool technician to return to my home to replace the freezer door. Well, with a new freezer door installed, I am still plagued by a freezer that cannot keep food frozen at a consistent temperature, have to keep throwing food out, and the noise of the refrigerator is unbearable. When the compressor turns on and off, there is a clicking sound loud enough to startle you...every time it goes on and off. If you have ever walked on a sidewalk and passed an electric transformer on the ground, with that loud, annoying humming sound, that is how my refrigerator sounds when the compressor is running. Based on other reviews that state "how quiet" this refrigerator is, it seems I got stuck with a lemon.I am very disappointed with this product and with Whirlpool for not stepping up to the plate to do the right thing. Whirlpool, please contact me to remedy this problem.

The refrigerator is noisy. Sounds like it is breathing
from Lantana, Fl
Comments about Whirlpool White Top Freezer Refrigerator:
The insulation takes up a lot of room. Sounds like it is snoring. There is room for a shelf in the freezer but does not come with that shelf. Should because otherwise food gets stacked on top of food making it difficult to get something from the bottom. A person is limited to the number of 24" refrigerators available. I tried a GE and it had a design defect. The whirlpool was the only other option. I liked the internal layout of the GE much better.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Perfect for us
We purchased this small fridge for our warehouse to keep cold water and Gatorade. It's the right size, and black is perfect for a warehouse. So far so good.

Smaller inside than I thought
from Brooklyn NY
I bought this to replace an existing 24" refrigerator. First of all the unit fit into a 24" space, but needs 0ver 26'" to fully open the doors. I had to pull it away from the back wall in order for me to open it. That was nowhere in the description. Second of all the room inside is smaller than the old one I replaced. I think that is due to the thick side walls and doors. Third, it does not come with a rack in the freezer, there is a place for it to go, but no rack. Fourth, the dial for the temperature control in the fridge needs to be turned to the left in order to lower the temp, so when my ice cream was hard as a rock I turned the freezer dial to the left only to find out that made it even colder. The freezer dial lowers the temp by turning it to the right. There is plenty of room on the doors as the shelves are quite large and deep. It is a nice looking unit, it seems to work great, everything is cold and fresh.

Great unit cools well and for a small unit the door hold gallon jugs. Freezer keep things frozen very well. Only thing I dislike is it a little noisy for my location in my den. If it was a little less noisy, I would have given it a 5 star rating.
No Freezer Shelf!
from New York, NY
Watch out! If your freezer looks like the one pictured on their website, with nice rectangular boxes of processed food, you might be able to use half the capacity of the freezer, as pictured. However, if you eat real food, and freeze it, you may have irregularly shaped items that are very hard to stack. You will either have a ton of wasted space in your freezer, or you will have a mountain of frozen items falling out onto your feet every time you open the door.Strangely, there is a ledge for a shelf, but it is not included. Everyone knows, except perhaps Whirlpool engineers and designers, for best efficiency, a freezer should be packed full. But this is impossible and impractical when your freezer has no shelf! (And don't tell me that little ice cube shelf is a "shelf"! Please!)Terrible design. And terrible customer service.

One concern: The motor is very loud. We have lowered temp in freezer and refrigerator so it won't come on as frequently. Its distracting when we are sitting near it. Is that OK?
