These are near perfect headphones. Let me start off by saying that I've owned a number of headphones ranging from Bose to the top Sony premium headphones, and these are worth 100% of what I paid. The fit and weight is perfect, you can't even feel them in your ear after 5 minutes of use. The Sound range is amazing minus one small problem. When the volume is turned up, depending on the song the treble can be a bit schreechey and it hurts your ears. Thankfully, a way around this is to set the equalizer to a "Treble Reducer" or "classical" setting to minimize the screech. However, this is nothing compared to the problem of having too much bass with my past headphones. After using these for an hour or more, my ears feel fine compared to past "Maximum Bass" headphones that leave your hearing fuzzy and ears hurting from all the ridiculous unnatural bass. All in all these are very comfortable to wear, and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for performance at a modest price.

When I picked up the MDR-EX76's, their specs seemed promising. I was amazed by how comfortable these earphones were. However, the first problem I noticed when using these was the bass. The bass level was minimal and the volume was also very low. So I tried out the small and large sized cushions. The small ones were even quieter, but the large one really boosted the volume and bass! Unfortunately they still didn't have the slamming tone and high volume of my old 'Ink'd's. The MDR-EX76's need the large cushions for a great sound, which some people may not enjoy. The frequency range on these earphones is very nice and clear, but the quality for music playback wasn't what i expected for $42. I would rather have my fat tone from my $16 'ink'ds than sacrifice the bass for a little more clarity.

Second pair fails inside 1 year
Comments about Sony In-Ear Black Headphones:
I replaced these headphones with the same unit. I expected a Sony product to be reliable. This is the last Sony earphones I will ever purchase. A complete disappointment for both units.

I've had a pair of these since Christmas and now it's July. Hey are very comfortable, sound good, and stay in your ears. I use them almost every day and as of about 2 days ago they have been excellent. On the downside, after a good 6 months with these awesome earbuds, they did break- when I plugged them in they were significantly quieter than they had been previously. I think that 6 months is very good for earbuds- I went to replace them and the ones I bought (that weren't Sony) broke after a day. I just went out and bought myself another pair of these in white and I'm using them now, they're great! Thanks Sony!

Best Low Price Headphones

These are the best low price headphones for everyday use. They do not break, the sound is average, and best of all they cancel out noise! Not all noise is cancelled but it is as close as I have ever come. Obviously these would not compete with top of the line headphones but if you are just an everyday person who needs basic headphones, these are the best you will find.

Great sound terrible craftsmanship

I am on my third pair of this tiny buds. The right earbud keeps failing. Yes I know that $15 is a small price to pay but sheesh come on. If this pair fails I am DONE WITH SONY! What do I want? A working pair of buds that is all!
Can't be beat
I have had the same pair of earbuds for five years now and use them daily. Can't beat the price! If you looking for quality sound, this is the right choice- very full sound, awesome bass, and cancels background noise pretty well. I'm about to buy another pair because I am tired of all the disappointing (much more expensive) other brands of earbuds I have tried previously. Highly recommended.

Great earbuds...I've bought Sony's before and I was looking for a set for under $25. There are quite a few brands that offer them under that price but when you look at the specs, Sony has them all beat.... Example, compare these Sony's with the Koss *The Plug Classic*. The sound difference is between night and day.....You'd expect Koss, being a company that is supposed to be known for sound equipment, to have a good product, but this Sony has them beat hands down for the sound, and they're the exact same price.

BEST HEADPHONES EVER.
from Rochester, NY
Whoever gave these headphones a 1/5 star rating simply doesn't know how to take care of headphones. Me being a teen and lazy and uncaring, used to break a LOT of headphones. I'd be replacing them every 3-6 months! Let me tell you a thing: I have had the SAME pair of THESE headphones for FOUR YEARS. MAYBE five. (I'm not sure exactly when I got them, I want to say jr year of high school and I'm a jr in college now.) THAT IS A LONG TIME for ONE PAIR of headphones! I could not be any more impressed! If you need decent, QUALITY headphones, THESE ARE THE ONES YOU WANT. The earbuds next to NEVER come off, they're durable and AMAZING. YOU GO, SONY. FOUR FOR YOU, SONY. I will never buy any other headphones again. Lemme tell you, I'm a hard person to impress. A+

I bought these in September. A month later, there was no sound coming from one of the earbuds. I had it changed at a sony store, as the warranty was still valid. Though, less than two months later, same problem. It is bad quality. I liked these earbuds because the sound was quite good for the price, but definitely, with such a low price, you don't have the long term quality that should come with it.
Worst purchase ever!

Got this for my child and it is already broken, one ear bud works and the other doesn't. The worst part we barely had this product for a month.
Poor Material Quality
from Sandusky OH
The heaphones sound great! Well designed and light in my ears. However, the plastic/rubber used in the cord is of low quality, the cord separated on one side and the wire inside broke. To get this repaired, Sony wants $12.50... at this price, why not just go out and buy new ones? And why would I buy Sony again?
