Have.'t tried noise cancelling yet but when I get on the bus I will definitely be able to tell If it works alright or not. Just expected better materials for a $50 pair headphones. Sound quality is good and the bass is pretty nice

Not impressed with its noise reduction. When I turn it on I can hear a faint hiss. Plus I don't detect much difference in noise reduction. Actually the headphones themselves do more to limit outside noise? Quality of sound is just OK. I actually think treble is weak at highest end. Muddy bass. A step up from OE earbuds but not much more.

White noise when "noise canceling" is on

By

from Conroe, TX 77385, USA

Bought to use on my iPhone during commute. I can hear road noise on top of the white noise that the "noise canceling" produces. I can also hear other people's conversation on the bus. Volume on my phone is about 85% when I can hear other noises. I bought these specifically for the noise canceling, but am very displeased. I should have gone with the iPhone bass headphones. At least it looks more comfortable and has a control for the music/volume. What a waste of money.

NOT what I expected, DO NOT CANCEL NOISE

By

from Medellin, Colombia

I bought these headphones because I expected them to be some good noise canceling headphones (Based on the FALSE advertising on the box that said 90% noise insulation). They do not insulate noise at all, when turned on, all there is is some annoying white noise, but no noise insulation whatsoever. Nevertheless, they are still pretty good sounding headphones.

Not worth the money

By

from Undisclosed

The sound quality is good, but these are NOT noise cancelling at all. I used them on the bus and ferry and could still hear conversations going on around me when the power was turned on. They are also extremely uncomfortable when worn for very long.

Do NOT Cancel Noise

By

from Undisclosed

These headphones do NOT cancel noise. Not even a little bit. There is NO difference between the off and on positions (and, yes, I used a fresh battery). I tried these on an aircraft, plugged into my iPad. Even with the volume turned up all the way, I could not hear the movie. DO NOT BUY THESE

Absolutely Not Noise Canceling

By

from St. Simons Island, GA

Absolutely Not Noise Canceling. Not even a little bit. I brought these headphones because they are featured as "Noise Canceling". I am very disappointed in SONY, featuring them Noise Canceling. Way to lose reliability and customers.

Very disappointed: don't cancel noise

By

from Pittsburgh, PA

While these headphones are comfort and produce reasonably good sound, they are absolutely not noise-cancelling. I travel a good bit, and these have proven useless for a noise-cancellation purposes. When I put the headphones in noise-cancellation mode, they hiss (like white noise), but no background noise is eliminated. If you really need noise cancellation, don't waste your money on these.

Not noise cancelling as advertised

By

from USA

I had to get some headphones yesterday so I got a set of these. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed with them. They do not seem to cancel anything out at all. I will probably take them back. Do not buy these. I had a MDR-NC40 for many years but they just broke (after many miles of airline traveling). I don't know why Sony doesn't carry them anymore. Again very dissapointed.

MDR-NC8

By

from Undisclosed

Sadly, the headphones were not what was expected of a "quality" brand. They had the hiss others complain of, but worse yet, they failed as headphones when the hinges on the headset fractured. At first it was a minor crack in the plastic, and some glue fixed it, but once the part broke completely, the failure was permanent. The type of plastic is not compatible with adhesives. Parts are not available. Buy them and be prepared to throw them away soon.
