We bought this dishwasher when we did a complete remodel of our kitchen. The looks and performance are excellent. It does a great job in cleaning the dishes and the drying cycle works very well......as long as you use some sort of rinse or drying agent. The directions tell you to and it's VERY important to do so. Without it,water remains on your dishes and the inside of the dishwasher. This dishwasher is very quiet! I have excellent hearing and cannot hear it when it's running. My only complaint about it is what I think is a poorly designed silverware caddy. Specifically the lids or tops of the caddy. They tend to come unhinged from the caddy when you put silverware down into it. It was very annoying until my clever husband tied them in place with zip ties. They work very well to keep the tops on while putting silverware in and out. I had to change the silverware I use because the handles were too wide to fit in most of the slots. But, we made those adjustments ....which we shouldn't have had to do .....and I'm generally very happy with this dishwasher.

This dishwasher is very quiet and seems to be of solid construction. However, silverware slot lids on baskets will not stay in place...too easily come out of tracks when removing silverware and are awkward to set back in place- very annoying. Upper and lower racks are too uniform, so they do not readily accept varying sizes of dishes, bowls, cups, and glasses. Just about all of the cycles take too long, we now only use the shortest cycle, the one-hour cycle. Plastic vent on inside of door broke within first month. I regret making the decision to purchase this dishwasher based on sound rating....wish I had paid more attention to racks, loading features, and cycle times when comparing it with other brands before purchase.

Expensive Repairs Required

Comments about KitchenAid Superba Series EQ Stainless Steel Dishwasher:
My wife and I purchased the Kitchenaid KUDE48FXSS dishwasher in May 2013. We have no children or other residents, so its just the two of us and usually just dinner dishes to wash, so we use the dishwasher 4 or 5 times a week. We have experienced major breakdowns with this machine. In three and half years, our repair costs for it are around $675 - over half of the purchase price. It started leaking water from underneath after about a year, which required replacing the pump and motor. We had to replace the wheels on the lower rack and the rails on the upper rack, plus other parts. The top rack rails literally came apart in such manner that the rack fell out with cups in it upon opening the drawer. The dishwasher has to be removed from under the counter to replace the rails. One need not have an engineering degree to determine that the problems are related to poor quality components, especially the plastic parts on the drawers that break down quickly. Our repair person said the drawer rails are a common problem with Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid dishwashers. The rails cannot be repaired and must be replaced because of the design and construction. Just a very cheaply made machine overall.

It always stinks
It does a good job but for some reason it always stinks, building another house looking at bosch instead
After 3 years of very light use our machine started leaking. Repair man said it needed a new motor to the tune of $450 as the design was poor on this machine. He said the next thing to go will be the control panel as he has had much experience with repair calls on this model and all not good. He said he tells people to never by a Kitchenaid dishwasher but to go with a Bosch or GE. (Independent repair service) We are VERY disappointed as we purchased this unit with all new Kitchenaid appliances during a big remodel. Wanted to buy USA. So sad and frustrating. Before the leak it was quiet and no problems. Ugh. We will purchase a new Bosch and not repair this one . On another sight I saw over 700 reviews with the same problems as we experienced with in the first few years.

after only 3 years of very light used.Drain pump started to make very loud humming noise. Nothing was stuck in pump. Had to replace Drain pump motor $90.It also leak from the diverter Motor shaft.I would not recommand that dishwasher to anybody.
Rack Rail Assemblies Keep Failing
We bought this in late 2013. Earlier this year, the right upper rail assembly (the part that holds the rack into the dishwasher) starting spewing out metal ball bearings. It seems the plastic piece that holds them in place was disintegrating (see photo, this shouldn't be visible). We had the repair company replace it. Last week, the same thing happened on the other side. When I called KitchenAid and the extended warranty company (tried both), I was told this is considered a "consumable" part and I could fix it myself. Sure, if I am good at pulling out and reinstalling my built-in dishwasher... This is a big hassle as it cannot be easily fixed. Required an expensive service call. Our fear is that this will happen repeatedly.

Dissapointed in KitchenAid
from Littleton Colorado
I purchased the Kitchen Aid model KUDE48FXWHO. I can honestly say it has been the WORST appliance purchase in my history. Not only that but I have called Customer Service and talked with over 7 people in the last 2 weeks "on hold roughly 30 minutes each call" and not 1 customer service member followed up for me. So disapointed in Kitchen-aid and how they DO NOT stand behind their product! frown emoticon

I hadn't bought a new dishwasher in 15 years and am so impressed with the quietness, new features and sleek look of my new KitchenAid Architect Series II.

By never again Kitchenaid!
from Vancouver, BC
We bought this model dishwasher along with an entire kitchen of Kitchenaid appliances for our brand new house.I turned around one day and all of a sudden my WHOLE kitchen was flooded from the dishwasher leaking. It took over 6 months and $80,000 to restore our brand new house. The plumber who re-installed all teh appliances "fixed" our dishwasher telling us It was one of the metal clamps on the shorter hose on the sump assembly that was defective. I called Kitchen aid to have one of their techs come out and look at the dishwasher to see what the exact problem was and he showed me an email they all received in 2012 stating that all these model and serial # dishwashers contained this completely defective part and gave them the new "replacemant" kit for people with these dishwashers AFTER their house had already flooded. As our dishwasher was just past the 2 year mark, they said that we had no warranty, was not going to even cover the cost of the new sump assembly( becasue you cant just replace the one hose of course!) They didn't care about oru situation at all. They have the worst custsomer care service and after talking to many plumbers, we have been told by most of them that they would never get Kitchenaid dishwashers!!
Very Quiet, Energy Efficient, Ease of Use
from Dallas, TX
During first wash , I was unable to hear any sound from the dishwasher and I thought it is not even operational but when I went really close to the dishwasher I hear some sounds :-). It is very easy to operate. Even without the prewash detergent, I am always getting clean dishes in every run. The rinse agent is also used by this washer efficiently.
It's so quiet!
from Airdrie, AB, Canada
Sometimes I go to open it and forget it's running! So quiet!! With right detergent cleans well too!
