I bought washer and dryer, it is easy to use, great settings for all different washes, enjoying every time I use (use it much much less than the top load, electricity and water bill lowered), quiet machines (in beginning kept on going back to use if machines are working), very happy with all the options that is has, can over-ride the machine if I want water colder or hotter, spin lower or higher, extra rinse if I need to (used extra rinse in top load), door locks when it starts washing (cannot open while in use), used the dryer steam to clean all the stuff animals (Wow). Now the kids want to do laundry, an Amazing product. It's worth the money.

We have had our WM4070HVA washer for about 6 months. Within the first week, our washer started leaking sudsy water when processing towels (i.e., during the rinse cycle). The leak would occur from an overflow port in the rear. The overflow port is under the hot and cold water connections. An LG service technician reviewed our unit. He replaced a check-valve behind the overflow port. Odd, given that this unit was brand new. But he was trying to cover all possible root causes. He also told us to reduce the amount of detergent we use. In response, we reduced the amount of detergent we use. The problem still persisted. Then, we changed detergent brands but maintained the reduced amount of detergent. The problem still persisted. We called LG Service which sent a second LG technician. The LG technician said we needed to reduce the amount of detergent we use. In light of our efforts, his recommendation was ridiculous. Above the detergent tray, LG has placed a sticker that reads, "Designed specifically for HE detergent". We use HE liquid detergent. The detergent tray is marked with graduated lines that correspond to "Normal" and "Maximum" size loads. We never exceed the lowest graduation mark for "Normal", and often use detergent levels below this mark. Note that the lowest graduation mark for "Normal" is the lowest mark on the tray scale. My wife and I have tried manually to determine the proper amount of detergent for towels. But because the WM4070HVA changes the water amount based on the weight of the towels, any "experiments" we run are hit-or-miss. Of course, if we use too little detergent, the towels are not properly cleaned. WM4070HVA is, unfortunately, poorly designed. First, the graduated lines should be useful for all load cycles. That includes the "Towel" cycle. Second, the overflow system and its associated components should be more robust to various detergent concentrations. If LG specifies a "Normal" graduation in the detergent tray, then the overflow system should be able to handle that when towels are washed. Period. The design problem with the WM4070HVA is simple: It weighs loads to determine the proper amount of water, but then does nothing to determine the matching amount of detergent. The user is left to figure it out. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to know the amount of water added into the drum - especially since the water is added after the cycle starts and the door locks! WM4070HVA is an expensive washer. At this price level, LG should have incorporated an automatic dispensing system. The system would work as follows: The unit weighs the load to determine the proper amount of water, The dispensing system determines the proper amount of detergent, based on the cycle selected and the amount of water, The water is dispensed into the drum and the drum starts agitating the load, The dispensing system removes the appropriate amount of detergent from a detergent reservoir, The dispensing system dilutes the detergent with a predetermined amount of water. The predetermined amount of water takes into account the water already in the drum. The dispensing system adds the diluted detergent into the drum while the load is being agitated. In this design, the user only needs to check the reservoir to make sure it is full of detergent.

Comments about LG Graphite Steel TurboWash Front Load Washer:
This machine is not good. It washes the clothing but it leaves a bad smell in the machine. Even after cleaning and drying out.

Just Plain Fantastic

I have finally been able to install our new LG washer. I love the extra large load capacity and the large opening in which to place oversize blankets and comforters through. The ability to fine tune my exact wash size and loads is extremely useful. I am impressed with how well this front loader wrings out the close which, in turn, reduces drying time.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We purchased this washer two years ago and it's still lasting great. We love how it automatically readjust when washer spin cycle is off. We really love this washer.

I bought this 8 months ago to replace a whirlpool system. The noise and vibration are ridiculous, no matter how large or small the load. Larger loads frequently will be unbalanced to the degree requiring emptying the washer and, if possible separating the load into 2 bundles and running a drain and spin cycle. Don't think you will be doing large loads or bulky items like comforters without hassle.

Water and suds pour out of the back
from Chapel Hill, NC, United States
We have a washer that is only 23 months old. Recently, suds and water have started pouring out of the port in the back and spilling all over the floor and soaking our baseboard. As others have noted, we are also are very careful and have used only the minimal amount of detergent (HE powder). Nothing has changed in our usage.
Leaking after 15 months of light use

Way too new -- and expensive -- to start leaking out of the back after only 15 months of light use (two people).
