We bought a new house and replace all the appliances with pretty much the same appliances we had in our old house, which should tell you how much we loved our old (2yr old) appliances. All of them are great quality and we love our choices, Maytag - you have come a long way. However, the fridge has had some features removed. In two years the price has gone up but you can no longer get the LCD display with water metering system and ice in the door, at least that I can see. This was a great and very handy feature, one that should be available on your top of the line model. If you had it two years ago you need to have something like it now for more money. The only other grip is the dispensing unit, its a single activator which means the water is infront of the ice and if you activeate the water with the glass it overshoots the glass. Get the two dispense point (one for ice and one for water) door. No such thing as a perfect fridge, but this one is close, if it had a couple of the features of our old one I'd give it a perfect rating.

Overall we really like the design of the refrigerator - style, features, performance and noise level. After only a few months of service, we are having ice maker issues. The ice maker leaks water into the ice storage bin which runs down the inside of the door into the storage door bins. Ice buildup is forming at the back of the ice maker inside the refrigerator. The service technician reports that a factory service "heater" kit is in process. So far no update from the factory or the local service company on when this kit will be available.If you purchase this refrigerator beware of the ice maker issues and verify that the design fix has been incorporated into this model.

Comments about Maytag Black French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator:
While under initial warranty had 3 repair calls which were only temporary fixes. Since then, without extended warranty (had read this product wouldn't require it) have had three more visits from repairmen to no avail. Ice maker is completely down and frost at the bottom of both sides of freezer door builds up continually. Am completely disappointed with this unit and am considering selling it after three years. I have two other Maytag products in my house and when time to replace them I will not buy Maytag. Michael Gilpin

Purchased the refrigerator about a year ago. To date there hasn't been any problems and it totally meets all our needs.

The freezer on the bottom is a first for me and I Love it. The ice on the door fills a glass fast.
Worked great for the first 2 years, then the control panel went and needs to be replaced. I would still buy maytag, just wish they would make something that would hold up to large families better.

Water leak from ice maker repairman said I need to wedge upOne side of fridge 1/4 inch to make water level in ice maker level. It is so noisy it makes me what to unplug it. So sad there is nothing they can do.(Two Repair mans opinion) We would like to exchage for a nice quite one. That ice maker doesn't leak all over. But the big deal is way to NOISY.

** BUYER BEWARE **

This refrigerator quit working after 2 1/2 years due to a leak within the refrigerant line. The cost to repair was just as much as a new refrigerator. Filed several complaints with Maytag. They were not willing to stand behind their product unless an extended service plan had been purchased. So much for Maytag's "dedication to working better, stronger and longer" It is a nice slogan, however their products and actions do not serve as confirmation.
Ice maker drips condensation into refrigerator

I purchased this refrigerator in May 2015, shortly thereafter, the ice maker started experiencing condensation and water would drip into the refrigerator. I contacted Maytag since it is still under warranty. A service technician was sent to my house. The first company came out twice, supposedly fixed the problem each time, yet the problem continued. A second company was sent to my house. The new technician discovered that 'additional' parts were needed. Came back to install the parts, but some were incorrect or damaged, therefore I have to wait for replacement parts. As of today, December 1, 2015, I am still waiting for parts and the problem still exists. I never expected a brand new fridge to have this issue. The experience has been frustrating and time consuming.

We bought this refigerator when we moved into our new home. One year and and one month later the ice maker stops working then it stops cooling. Because the compressor was under warranty we could only use a Maytag approved repairman. He couldn't come get it until 5 days later. 15 days and $625 later it was returned with a new evaporator and new compressor. Now about 2 weeks after it was returned it is doing the same thing again. Maytag customer service said after the first time it broke that things like that happen. Wonder what she would say now!
Regretting The Purchase

We purchased this refrigerator in Janurary. Since then, we have had the same repair man out at least 5 times in 4 months to fix a reoccuring problem with heavy frost build up in the freezer. Every time the repair man does what the Maytag engineer tells him to do, but it doesn't work. I have owned 5 refrigerators in my lifetime, and never have I had the problems that I am having with this Maytag.
