There is a reason this unit is rated so high. I'm using the hose connection directly into my sewage line. It runs continuously to keep the humidity in my basement at 50%. For some reason, regardless of fan speed, I can't get to 45%. This is my third dehumidifier and by far the best. I would recommend the unit over others despite the minor issue.

This model pulls a ton of water out of the air. We empty it about every 12 hours, although we could easily attach a hose and let it drain on its own. What is kind of stunning about it is how it has eliminated what had been a HUGE temperature disparity between our upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs used to feel like a meat locker whenever the AC was on; now it feels exactly the same as upstairs. Am very pleased about this.

It turns off and a red light flashes when it needs to be emptied so you could just leave it on all the time; for safety reasons we never leave appliances running when we leave the house so we have not put that to the test, but with the humidity in DC now we run it all night and by morning it is full and off with the light blinking.

I've had it only a month so far and seems to be doing it's job. I have it connected to a hose for drainage so I don't know exactly how much water it's pulling but has lowered the humidity level of my 2,400 sq ft basement to normal levels.

I use this in my basement, its very quiet takes up little floor space and works quite well removing water.I read all the reviews about noise but this one so far is very quiet. I would reccomend this to anyone. I did take out the insurrance because I don't have much luck with dehumidifiers, but that's just me(maybe i will not need it)

with heavy spring rains this year, we needed a second dehumidifier in our very damp and large basement. having been very pleased with an earlier model of this dehumidifier, we were so pleased to find this one even more powerful. it is easy to roll from one area to another.

We used it the the basement area for a month. It worked very well in removing moisture. Unfortunately, the "On-Off" control failed in that short period of time. Fortunately, it was in the "on" position at the time.

Unit ran good for what little time it was operational. Unit arrived in great shape from ABT but sadly only lasted with minimal use 1.5 years. Only use in Michigan for part of the year in basement and last year it was so hot and dry, the unit saw minimal usage. Alas, here we are in a wet Spring/Summer of 2013 and I am without a functional unit. Fan works good, but will not kick in the unit to remove humidity from the basement. Have a portable humidity meter and it is 70% humidity in basement and unit shows the same on it's LED screen. However, after continuous running, it has removed ZERO moisture from the air. Very disappointed.

The FAD704DWD is simply OK. My 2009 Frigidaire dehumidifier will fill up twice as fast on the Low setting as the FAD704DWD fills on the High setting. I recommend not hooking up the hose, as frost will build on the coils causing premature failure. We have the models mentioned above in a humid basement - I always let mine fill up and shut off then cool down before emptying and starting units again.

I have a BAD dust mite allergy. I have to keep the humidity very low in order to keep the critters away. This unit operates in our bedroom. It is VERY effective at keeping the humidity down around 30%. It is quiet enough that we can sleep just fine with it running. It has a nice appearance as well.

Service and delivery comments:

I can't say enough good about ABT. The model I originally ordered ended up being discontinued and ABT offered the new replacement to me for the same price as the older model.

It came very quickly wrapped in a double wrapped box. I will definitely shop ABT again!!!
