This wonderful KitchenAid® attachment has changed the way we view ground meat products. From the very first time I purchased an inexpensive roast, asked the butcher for a half pound of beef fat, went home and ground our own home made ground beef, we decided we would never buy store or factory ground beef again. There is no comparison. After the "pink sludge" scare a few years ago, everyone wants better ground meat products and this simple device makes it not only possible but easy and affordable. I also grind pork butt and make our own sausage patties by simply adding a bit of sage and you can too. I also grind the beef, pork and veal to make the best meatballs ever. If you have ever considered this attachment, quit thinking and go get it. You will be so glad you did. Thanks, Mark from Sacramento, CA

I love the grinder. The problem is, with a company that makes such a superior Standmixer, I have had to replace the grinder twice, and shredder twice. They crack easily and at the cost of them, they are not a good buy. I just purchased one of your vintage grinders that is made of aluminum and wonder why you changed the aluminum to plastic. The plastic ones aren't any good. As for the shredder, I decided to go with a cheaper brand food processor instead of purchasing a 3rd one. I love my Kitchen Aid and have bought one for both of my kids because they are excellent. But advised them that the accessories aren't worth the money. Sorry.

What a piece of junk

By

from Chicago, IL, United States

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I have used Kitchenmaid's food grinder attachment for years and use it frequently. I recently bought a second Kitchenaid mixer and bought a second food grinder for that mixer. It looks and feels cheaply constructed and just mashes the meat through the grinding plates instead of actually grinding it. I never had to freeze the meat I was working with with their old grinder attachment and it worked flawlessly.

Life saver!

By

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

We've had this for about nine months and use it every day. We have a child (9) who is unable to chew food. For years we have been using a baby food hand grinder, but that meant that I was very limited on what I could feed him. It had to soft enough that we could muscle it through. There really were blood, sweat and tears at times :0). Now he can eat pretty much whatever we are eating. We wish we had purchased it sooner!

Greese oozes out during grinding

By

from Bethel, Ct

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I had my mixer for about 7 years. Love the mixer, however, when using the grinder with pork or grinding sirloin, a blackish grease comes out of the middle of the grinder. Kitchenaide suggests not running the machine hot...what?! Go with the hand held folks!

Grinding of Venison

By

from Ashwaubenon, WI

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

Before buying the attachment I came to this site and read the reviews. After three years and over 130 pounds of ground venison I can say this is a good purchase and works well. There are two caveats however, one; the pieces to be ground MUST be about 50% frozen, and two; remove all the tendons from your ready to be ground pieces because they will bind the grinder head if not removed. This is also why keeping the pieces mostly frozen make processing easier.

Great tool to explore new recipes and techniques

By

from America

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

The included pusher is worthless, however, the rest of the machine is useable and provides and opportunity to explore new things like homemade sausage, salumi, and charcuterie. I recommend one to anybody interested in trying new things. I also recommend finding a new pusher, such as one made by LEM.

Don't Buy!

By

from Macomb MI

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

Once the blade gets dull, it doesn't work, and cheap replacement blades won't work either. The meat gets all gummed up in the plates, and you have to keep taking it off and rinsing it.

Meat Grinder

By

from Texas, United States

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

Is the best purchase I've made in a long time. We have quit buying store ground meat. The wife or I will buy the cheapest cuts (on sale) of beef &/or pork and as soon as get home I'll get the grinder attachment out. In an hr. or so we'll have fresh ground meat. I sometimes add some venison for a variety. Then I vacuum seal ~2# per bag, label and in the freezer all goes except for what am cooking in the next day or 2. Also, very easy cleanup afterwards. Note: after clean & dry I lubricate the O ring on shaft with a little Olive oil.

Good Results.

By

from Texas

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I bought this grinder recently for the mixer my mother bought me 33 years ago. After purchasing it, I read these reviews and was concerned that I would have to return it. But decided to try it anyway. I put stew meat through first then put the cooked meat and veggies through together. It preformed very well. I was very pleased. I was surprised that it fit my 33 yr old mixer. I think I'll keep it. If it breaks later.....oh, well.
