This wonderful KitchenAid® attachment has changed the way we view ground meat products. From the very first time I purchased an inexpensive roast, asked the butcher for a half pound of beef fat, went home and ground our own home made ground beef, we decided we would never buy store or factory ground beef again. There is no comparison. After the "pink sludge" scare a few years ago, everyone wants better ground meat products and this simple device makes it not only possible but easy and affordable.

I also grind pork butt and make our own sausage patties by simply adding a bit of sage and you can too. I also grind the beef, pork and veal to make the best meatballs ever.

If you have ever considered this attachment, quit thinking and go get it. You will be so glad you did.

Thanks, Mark from Sacramento, CA

I came here to report large cracking in the FGA and assumed since Kitchenaid stands for quality that it would be covered by a warranty. At a retail price of over $60 this shouldn't break so easily. It's a few years old however it has been used how many times?? maybe 7 ??

Been very useful

By

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I bought this years back and have been using it. The outer screw cap cracked in the 3rd use and got another one ( spare part) It grinds well provided the meat is quite cold but not frozen. I just love it.

Not What I Had Expected

By

from Lithia Springs, GA

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I received this as a gift after I got my first mixer! I was very excited to be able to grind my own meats and cheeses, boy was I wrong..... The cheese sticks to everything and it's a pain to clean, and you have to clean the blade after about 3/4 a block of cheese. As for meet grinding, get a hand all metal grinder or plan to do only about 1/2 pound at a time when you need it. Pretty big disappointment kitchen-aid. Doesn't give me confidence in the other attachments

Plastic top cracked off

By

from Grand Haven,Mi.

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

Used it twice to grind meat and the plastic top portion cracked right off. It doesn't work well for meat and is a waste of money. Never tried it for anything else. Mixers great but I wouldn't recommend buying attachments.

Works great.

By

from Marysville, WA

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

My wife and I bought this attachment with the new KitchenAid Mixer we received as a Christmas present. I used it preparing dinner last evening, making chicken and pork filling for pan-fried dumplings. The grinder attachment worked great, just as advertised.
Next, we will be purchasing the chopper/shredder attachment. Can't wait.

Food grinder not nearly the quality of mixer

By

from Lincoln nebraska

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

Just purchased grinder attachment. First use and plastic body of grinder cracks!
I suppose I work have read the reviews but based on over 20 years of positive experience with Kitchenaid stand mixers, mistakenly assumed the attachment would have the same quality.

won't grind solid meat

By

from Apache Junction, AZ

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I have an older grinder with the steel cutting knife and it works great. I recently purchased another one to use in our winter residence. It wouldn't cut the meat, just turned it into mush. The knife blade is a totally different design. Can't use it to grind meat for sausage or hamburger.

If you like your mixer, avoid the grinder

By

from Grantsville, UT

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I'm a hunter and I've recently decided to do more of my processing at home. This made my wife happy as I sent her to buy the meat grinder attachment she's been wanting since I bought her the mixer. She began processing elk, cut into 1"cubes and running approx 20F. She was able to process about 3 lbs before the mixer made a loud crunch, and started knocking. Being a mechanic by trade, I promptly disassembled the unit and found the Center gear had lost about 6 teeth and the hub gear had a few deformed teeth.

I assumed I had done something wrong, running meat pieces too big or something, and set about finding replacement parts. I found parts approx 50 miles each way from my home. I picked up the parts and appropriate gear lube and headed home to make repairs.

After cleaning all the parts and being sure no pieces of broken gear teeth remained in the housing, I reassembled my mixer, applying the lube as needed, and then set about making sure I followed all the specified directions to the letter.

My mixer worked for 10 minutes and the same two gears broke again. Being in the middle of processing and having given up any hope of this working, I returned my attachment for a full refund from my retailer and bought a hand crank meat grinder.

As of right now this meat grinder experiment is going to cost me approximately $60 in replacement parts and more time than I care to count.

The worst part is technically the grinder is fine, it just creates too much torque load for the mixer to handle.

Plastic Body Cracks

By

from Low Country, SC

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

Sorry, but this can not be recommended as the plastic body cracks making it useless. The designer should have known the metal and plastic expand at different rates and once the metal expanded it would crack the plastic.

grinder body is NOT like the mixer

By

from Green Bluff

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I have owned my Kitchen Aid Mixer Blender since 1978 - until my son bought me a 'new' one for Christmas a few years back (the sly boy thought I needed a silver one instead of white - and then marched out the door with my old one!)

Today I was grinding trimed beef when the outer body of the Food Grinder cracked and broke into 3 pieces. I have mostly used it to fine grind already ground meat for meat balls. The grinder had dificulty with solid meat!

Compared to the quality of the mixer, the food grinder is cheaply made of plastic. Considering the pressure created with grinding meat, plastic is a poor choice of material to use, I've always thought this piece should have been made of cast metal.

However, this is what we have and I am looking for a part number and place to replace only the outer body.

I hope someone can post a reply advising me what to do.

Thank you.
