This wonderful KitchenAid® attachment has changed the way we view ground meat products. From the very first time I purchased an inexpensive roast, asked the butcher for a half pound of beef fat, went home and ground our own home made ground beef, we decided we would never buy store or factory ground beef again. There is no comparison. After the "pink sludge" scare a few years ago, everyone wants better ground meat products and this simple device makes it not only possible but easy and affordable.

I also grind pork butt and make our own sausage patties by simply adding a bit of sage and you can too. I also grind the beef, pork and veal to make the best meatballs ever.

If you have ever considered this attachment, quit thinking and go get it. You will be so glad you did.

Thanks, Mark from Sacramento, CA

I came here to report large cracking in the FGA and assumed since Kitchenaid stands for quality that it would be covered by a warranty. At a retail price of over $60 this shouldn't break so easily. It's a few years old however it has been used how many times?? maybe 7 ??

Does a great job

By

from Beresford, SD

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I bought this a few years ago. My husband and I grind deer meat with it every fall. We have been happy with it. However we would like a more coarse grinding plate for ground beef hamburgers. I would love it if Kitchenaid came out with another plate!

Waste of Money

By

from Virgina

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I bought the meat grinder attachment about a year ago for processing deer meat during the hunting season. What a pain in the behind and waste of money!! I read several of the reviews on this site and saw that other consumers are having issues with the grinder clogging up, fat and tendon wrapping up around the worm gear. Heat generated from the friction of the blades and worm gear against the meat results in gray looking meat coming out. I have tried different motor speeds as well as cutting meat into one inch square pieces. Nothing seemed to improve the performance. A pound of meat takes about 6-7 minutes to grind that's if the meat is very lean. Other wise it can take up to 15 minutes if I don't have to pull the grinder apart and clean it. Wish I could return the grinder kit for ap refund or manufacture credit towards another accessory. I stuck the grinder in the cabinet never to be used again. Will probably donate it to Goodwill. As for the sound level the grinder is quite but the mixer is loud. I take that with a grain of salt.
I love the Kitchen Aid mixer and the vegetable slicer and grater accessory kit that we have!!

Fantastic! (Tip, Meat must be chilled!)

By

from San Antonio, TX

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

Fantastic attachment, highly recommend it. Make own burgers, chili, meatballs etc.
Use chuck, sirloin and even ribeye (though not necessary).
Tip is to have meat cut into 1" cubes and must be chilled!
I put about 30 min in freezer (not frozen though) and leave cubes on stainless bowl on top of ice.
Awesome (and healthier too!)

Not a meat grinder!!

By

from Myrtle Beach

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

This was a birthday gift. The only purpose was to grind my own meats. All it does is mash meat and stop after a minute because of the build up of fat, muscle and grizzle. Have to take it apart to pry off glop just to have to do it again and again. Tried with beef and then pork with same results. There are grey pieces of meat dispersed among ground meat Very disappointed with this, even though have 2 mixers that are are by far the best I have used. One mixer was my mom's dating back from 1958 and still runs like a top and my newest is 20 years old in excellent condition.

Grey Ooze coming out when grinding meat.

By

from Melbourne Fl

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I invested a lot of money in meat to start grinding my own. I've tried several ways partially frozen to room temperature and gray keeps coming out on every kind of meat. Also meat comes out of grinder at the point of connection to the machine. Very disappointed.

Grey Ooze When Grinding Meat

By

from Toronto, ON

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I bought this with the intention of grinding meats, but grey ooze comes out whenever I try using it. KitchenAid denies there is an issue, but unless you want grey metal shavings on your food, buy another product.

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

This is one that we bought to replace our one that was determined to be a loss due to a fire in our home. I have used other meat grinders and feel this does not even come close to how they worked. I have never had any problems with this. I would highly recommend this to a friend!!!

Works . . . but

By

from Poway, CA

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I like grinding my own meat for chili and sausage, but now I'm concerned. Blood spatters everywhere, but I can adjust for that. I can second every complaint - grease and black bits in the food (I just picked them out but hadn't thought about heavy metals!); grey dust on the metal parts after washing it in the dishwasher; sinew wrapping around the spindle; and I can add another - the plastic housing is cracking at the bottom where it attaches to the mixer. I always think of the mixer as the top of the line, but the attachments and accessories leave me tepid.

Terrible food grinder. Unless you like Grease.

By

from Minneapolis

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

Wasted several pounds of ham. Ran some through, looked great then noticed ALOT of black particles. Pulled the grinder apart, and the axle was covered in grease, also coating all the meat. Nice design boys.

Would be a fine grinder if not for the metal particles

By

from Michigan

Comments about KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

The grinder gets the job done, which is all you can ask of an appliance. However, there is a design flaw in which metal particles from the inside of the machine get siphoned in via the corkscrew action. This makes the product unusable due to the health risk of consuming heavy metals. When grinding an unseasoned meat such as ground beef, you can clearly see the metal deposits as you grind. It's a shame, because this is an otherwise adequate tool.
