Eton ZoneGuard White Weather Alert Radio, Model ZONEGUARD

One of the simplest ways you can be prepared and stay safe during stormy weather is by utilizing an emergency weather radio. The Eton ZoneGuard Weather Alert Radio keeps you apprised of alerts from the NOAA, providing a forecast of pending and ongoing severe weather.

About the size of a small tablet, the Eton ZoneGuard can be placed inconspicuously on a desk at work or an unused spot on your kitchen counter, while keyhole slots let you hang it on the wall. An AC adapter provides constant power, but the ZoneGuard radio also runs on AA batteries. Featuring a clock with alarm and AM/FM radio reception, the ZoneGuard will prove its usefulness on a daily basis.

During inclement weather, however, is when the Eton ZoneGuard Weather Radio really shines. NOAA weather band radio reception lets you tune in to a station dedicated to broadcasting local weather reports. Weather band radio stations are also the best place to get news about developing storms. However, since the most severe weather often takes us by surprise, the ZoneGuard can be set to receive urgent alerts that are broadcast via the S.A.M.E. protocol. Just set it up with your county code and if an alert goes out, the ZoneGuard emergency radio notifies you with a siren and color-coded flashing lights, even if you're not tuned into weather band radio at the time.

Stay one step ahead of the storm with the Eton ZoneGuard Weather Radio. You may never use this compact device as anything more than an extra clock, but it only takes one bad storm to prove its worth.

Comments about Eton ZoneGuard White Weather Alert Radio:

The NWS tests the NWR and SAME alerting technology weekly. These tests normally occur on
Wednesday between 10 AM and 12 noon local time with some variations to accommodate local
requirements. Some NWS offices actively participate in the local operational areas of the FCC EAS by
periodically initiating the Required Monthly Test. These tests normally coincide with the time the NWS
conducts its routine weekly tests. In these cases, the RWT code for Required Weekly Test will be
replaced with the code, RMT, for the Required Monthly Test. No other NWR test using the RWT code
for that week would be conducted. These tests are postponed to the next good weather day, if
threatening weather is occurring or possible at or near the time of the routine or scheduled test

Comments about Eton ZoneGuard White Weather Alert Radio:

This unit will operate on AC power or battery, however if the AC power goes out the unit will not switch to battery and it looses programed info!!
If you unplug the power unit from the unit it will switch to battery and save the programed info but if the power unti is pluged into the unit and the AC power goes out the unit will not work until you unplug from the unit!! NOT GOOD AS AN EMERGENCY BACKUP.

Not sure. No way to test alert settings

Comments about Eton ZoneGuard White Weather Alert Radio:

The alert is easy to set up, but there is no test alert button to test the alert once it is set to see if it actually works. You would have to wait until an actual incident to see if it works or not. Maybe too late if it does not. Needs a test method.
