Nikon COOLPIX S9500 Black 18.1 Megapixel Digital Camera, Model COOLPIXS9500BLK

The Nikon Coolpix S9500 is the perfect travel camera for those that want the versatility and image quality of the Coolpix P520, but would like it in a smaller package. Loaded with a superzoom lens and countless technical advancements, this svelte shooter will still slip into your pants pocket for easy travel.

Big Image Quality In a Small Package

One of the great things about traveling is that you never know what you'll see. With versatile 22x optical zoom lens on the Coolpix S9500, you'll be able to capture whatever it is you encounter, from wide-angle cityscapes to pigeons perched on a skyscraper deck. Your photos will be recorded with stunning detail on the 18.1 Megapixel CMOS Senosr, which features backlight illumination technology for extra sensitivity in low light. For times when a photo just isn't enough, the Coolpix S9500 records video in Full HD 1080p resolution.

Share To Social Networks From Anywhere

We all love taking photos on vacation, but who really enjoys waiting to get home to post them online? The Nikon Coolpix S9500 solves that annoyance with built-in Wi-Fi, letting you send photos instantly to your smartphone, tablet or other compatible wireless device. Then you can send your favorite images to cloud-based backup, or share them with your friends from anywhere in the world. And just in case you forget which in which town you snapped that stunning vista, the camera's built-in GPS can record the exact location of every photo you take.

Features:

  • Capture distant images with a 22x wide-angle to telephoto NIKKOR glass zoom lens
Every COOLPIX is designed around a genuine NIKKOR glass lens, the legendary optics that have made Nikon famous. The COOLPIX S9500 features a 22x zoom NIKKOR lens that takes you from wide-angle group shots to telephoto close-ups in an instant. And don't worry about a little camera shake—lens-shift Vibration Reduction helps keep the shot steady even when your hands are not
  • Built-in Wi-Fi® for easily sharing your shots anytime, anywhere
The COOLPIX S9500 makes it easier than ever to share beautiful views of your world. Take a great shot and instantly send it to your compatible smartphone, tablet, or any compatible Wi-Fi® device. Then use your smart device to email it, text it, or upload it to your favorite social networking or photo album sites—share it the same way you normally share online. Your friends and family will be amazed by the shots you share!
  • Built-in GPS, mapping, E-Compass and Points of Interest (POI) for creating amazing photo journals
Relive the excitement of your travels in a whole new way. The COOLPIX S9500 records the exact location of each shot you take, so you can follow the path of your adventure and every stunning view along the way! Share your photo journeys on Google Earth™, Google+™ and other social media sites, or with the included Nikon View NX2 software. Built-in mapping and Electronic Compass also helps you navigate unfamiliar destinations, and Points of Interest (POI) show you nearby photo-ops like scenic lookouts and historic landmarks. The COOLPIX S9500 is the ultimate travel companion!
  • High-performance CMOS image sensor lets you shoot without a flash
Imagine being able to shoot without a flash at weddings, concerts, parties—anywhere your flash normally fires. You won't have to interrupt a moment to capture it, and your photos and HD videos will look more natural and true to your memory. The COOLPIX S9500 performs so well in low light situations that, in most cases, using the flash is optional. Of course, when the lighting is extremely poor and you need a flash, it'll be there
  • Sleek, stylish design that fits in your pocket
Form and function can play nicely together, and the COOLPIX S9500 is proof. Ultra-thin and lightweight, it fits comfortably in your pocket or purse. But you won't want to hide it there—every time you pull out the COOLPIX S9500, you can expect someone to comment on its good looks. Consider it a stylish accessory for your already fashionable life

So far I really like the camera, however this is my most difficult Coolpix to see your subject in the viewfinder - monitor while in sunshine. My S8200 was my favorite, but the long zoom makes the S9500 better even though it is more difficult to shot pictures outside. Simply put make the S9500 monitor easier to see in the sun or my like of this camera will fade very rapidly. This was a rather expensive camera to have this big of a flaw!

I bought this little camera as an addition item to my Nikon's gadget bag because of is wi-fi capability with my Android tablets. I also teach to retirees on travel photography. The software need's fine tuning fast, as it is not very reliable compared with others I have tried. (Canon, Samsung) The camera itself feels good in your hands and is small enough. Please buy a hardshell case and do not use forced air to clean it as you may get dust inside and on your CCD. I teach using (4) P7000 and now I want to upgrade to smaller Wi-Fi cameras and tablets for my traveling students. Please Nikon developers, upgrade the software fast if you want to stay in the Wi-Fi small quality camera rating. The zoom is perfect, the body very good but lack dust protection, the battery is the worst part. I use it for bird watching with control from my tablets but battery life is very (very) short in Wi-Fi mode. I will need 4 more soon and I'm waiting to see what software upgrade is coming, otherwise I will buy some other brand.

Good camera, but could be more impressed.

By

from Colorado/California/Utah

Comments about Nikon COOLPIX S9500 Black 18.1 Megapixel Digital Camera:

Got this camera before going on a 2 year trip expecting it would be an excellent investment that would last me these next 2 years and thousands of photos. However less than a year in and this camera has terrible power issues. Sent it in twice to get repaired before it finally seemed to have the issue resolved and I discovered others have had similar issues with the type of battery used for this model and other models. The pictures are great quality but not my wildest dreams or anything. The protective case it came with also was a disappointment as I took my camera out and found the screen cracked. I would definitely look elsewhere to see what other options are available if this is in your price range. Something more dependable and higher quality is probably available. Still love Nikon cameras though.

Good little camera, not very user friendly however. Still not able to get the WI-Fi set up. Unsure if just my camera since was a refurbished model. Upgraded from my AW100

Comments about Nikon COOLPIX S9500 Black 18.1 Megapixel Digital Camera:

I have just purchased a Coolpix S9500 and I find the time between taking a photo and the time that the camera is ready to take another, seems to be a long one. Can anyone advise on this please. I am currently using Auto mode.

So Happy!

Comments about Nikon COOLPIX S9500 Black 18.1 Megapixel Digital Camera:

I bought this camera for a trip to Tanzania and the Serengeti without knowing anything about it. I was thrilled with the pictures I captured, often from a moving vehicle. The videos were also wonderful. I will treasure these pictures for a lifetime. The camera is light, compact, and sooooooo easy to use, even for a novice. The pictures are clear and when enlarged are so clear that eyelashes can be seen on the giraffe and the fur and spots on a cheeta come into view. Did I say I was Happy?

Ordered new camera and came apparently used

By

from Elkton, MD, USA

Comments about Nikon COOLPIX S9500 Black 18.1 Megapixel Digital Camera:

The camera was already set up with someone else's pictures and settings loaded. May have been used already. Waited two months to receive as it was backordered that long. The description should be more explicit that you have to buy an additional card to wifi load pictures to a standard computer. The installed Wi-Fi only works for ipads and smart phones. Had to purchase a eye-fi card to load pictures to my computer. Other than that it takes a really good picture. I wouldn't recommend it due to the inability to receive when you want it.

Very poor battery performance

By

from Tulsa, OK

Comments about Nikon COOLPIX S9500 Black 18.1 Megapixel Digital Camera:

This camera does not come with a dock. If left unplugged, the battery drains in a couple of days. The manual says not to leave fully charged battery plugged in. I do not handle my camera everyday. It is very annoying to pick it up and it be inoperable because of discharged battery. Features are nice.
