I purchased this system in November to help with cleaning up after my two dogs. It works great on cleaning up the short hair and any unwanted messes one of them may leave me. The part I like best is the clean up of this machine. First the dirty water tub is easy to pick up and pour out. Second all the lower scrubbing parts come off making it super easy to clean. It allows me to get every part off the machine and get all the pet hair out of it before putting it way for storeage again. I have had other systems by other brands in the past and they never had any of these features and the other brands would get so dirty looking I didn't want to touch them to clean.

I had a very similar experience as CDFBattChief. I purchased the product this morning, assembled it and got to cleaning. The spinscrub brush was already attached just like it shows on Hoover's installation video but I double checked that it was fastened and not loose. I got through half of my hallway and noticed that portion of the carpet I was cleaning was very damp with rows of solution striped across it. While the machine was opterating, I tilted the machine to check if the brush was moving and it was not. I also noticed that the dirty water tank was dry. No water was lifted from the carpet and the spinscrub brush was not rotating. I removed the brush and the dirty water tank, then replaced both, but the problem remained. During two of the instances that I turned the machine on and off to test if the brush was rotating, I heard that same sound you described. I heard a loud sound like the machine was sucking up a plastic bag. It sounded like a horn. At that time, I unplugged the machine and sat on the carpet - defeated. The rotating brush was the reason I chose this machine after researching several Bissell and Hoover options. So, I took the machine apart and reassembled it again. It was then that I realized the spinscrub brush was not allowing the nozzel to sit flat on the floor so I removed it. That alteration helped to allow the nozzel to sit in the right position and at least lift the water from the carpet - thus the dirty water tank started to fill. The problem still remains with the spinscrub brush. It just won't spin once it's attached. I phoned the help line (phone # on the back of the machine and as instructed in the introduction video) but they were closed. I phoned the store I purchased the machine from and they suggested I return the product for another one, indicating the machine might have been a faulty one. I suppose I will take the machine (20 minutes away) back to the store and chance this won't happen again. If it does, you will heard about it.

Awesome job ccleaning!
from Columbia, SC, United States
I have had the product for a month now. Going through my house room by room cleaning the carpets. Mt carpets did not look that dirty but had several stains in areas. I cleaned a strip only to see how clean it was and there was a night a day difference. Not only does it clean well and easily it made my carpets fluffy amd soft again. I love this carpet cleaner. Make sure to get Hoover cleaning solution too it works the best. I tried Woolite but it didnt do the same thing as the Hoover brand solution. Only complaint is the small water tank. You find yourself changing and refilling the water a lot. But it gets the job done!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Amazing value, amazing results.

We needed a carpet cleaner that was handy for old stains as well as new stains from 2 recent puppy adoptions. A Bissell was on sale for a 'great' deal, but my research kept showing this unit at the top of the recommended list. In Canada, Canadian Tire already had pretty much the best price I could find, but I still had such a hard time bringing myself to pay the full 'non sale' price. Well, in my opinion, it is definitely worth the full price. When I looked at the other machines, all I could see were parts to goof around with to clean. This machine is a dream to clean after use. But lets back up. Using the machine is very easy. Having the split tank so you can turn off the soap is a huge advantage (in my opinion). You only put hot water in the water side, so you can just do a small spot and dump out the leftover water or do a large spot and keep re-filling with hot water. No mixing. Also, we had one carpet that had been cleaned with a commercial cleaner prior. It still had enough soap residual that we were able to give it a cleaning with just hot water at first. The straight water application is also great for pre wash or post rinse. Then the small messes (accidents). The brush bar simply pulls out so that you can just suck up the liquid after hand scrubbing so you don't need to clean the brush assembly. The brush assembly takes the most time to (properly) clean. The brush comes apart very easily and I made a point of re-purposing a comb to comb out the animal hairs, etc from the brushes. I could see this part of the machine giving problems quite prematurely if not cleaned well, but it can be replaced. Also, 4 of the 5 brushes can be removed during cleaning. If they are assembled differently than taken apart, you get to wear the brush bristles in both directions so they will be less likely to lie down (2 brushes spin 1 way, the other 2 spin the other). I feel that this machine is excellent value. For a couple areas where it may be built a bit weak, I would have been willing to pay a bit more for better durability. That being said, I am sure the warranty should take us through any shortfalls. The rest of the machine (just the plastic suction chute and dirty water bin) are super easy to remove/re-install and clean. The machine has very acceptable suction and the carpets dried quickly. For removing even more moisture from the wet carpets, I just removed the scrub brush assembly and just used the machine suction. If used appropriately, I feel this machine is a huge winner for the price point. Oh, I forgot to mention the bag of tools. What a fantastic bonus. Looking forward to cleaning my work truck upholstery.
Third hoover, broke again

Brushes stopped turning. Received this as a replacement to the second hoover that stopped working. Referred to troubleshooting, dirty filter screen, solution, clean screen. The screen was not dirty, brushes still do not turn.

Worked great at the start but now it leaks
from st. louis, mo
Unit leaks everywhere when not in use. Haven't even had it a year.

I love this machine for carpets when it decides to work properly. however upholstery is a different story. on the first use of the upholstery attachment it worked wonderful until it came time to disconnect the brush attachment to clean. it snapped! so now i have no way to use that portion of the machine which is greatly upsetting to me considering it hadn't been out of the box for more than an hour. i would not suggest purchasing this machine if you are expecting quality. very disappointed .
No more rentals!

Easy to use. Light weight. Needed it badly for 20 year old and 6 year old carpet with a 2 year old dog and 10 week old puppy who has endured rain interruptions to house training. The solution that came with it really freshened our home. The deeper the pile, it seems the less suction it has. It seems to not perform well on sculpted carpet, which in itself should be illegal. But since replacing carpet isn't in the budget, I clean the old stuff instead. Overall, I am pleased. At least this isn't the B-brand cleaner that I will never, ever trust again. If it lasts 2 years (and I have little faith it will last longer), it's worth it. No more rental cleaners! No more "B" products!
Excellent carpet washer

This model replaced my 8 year Hoover. I must say, what an improvement!! Great suction power, less detergent, doesn't leak, lightweight, great attachments. Love the warm air to help dry the carpet. I would have given this a 5 if this would have had actual rotating brushes, rather than circular.

I trusted the name Hoover!
from Bowling Green, KY, United States
I bought my unit last year and was expecting it to be a quality machine like the others I've had. Nope! After four months of use it started to sprays out all over the floor under the unit. There is something wrong with the hose that dispenses the cleaning solution, and I think it's the way the hose bends with the machine in the upright position. I was told by Best Buy I had to contact Hoover and I've done that and I get the run around. Done! My family has been faithful Hoover customers since the 1930's but I'm breaking that tradition. My next machine will be a Bissell for sure.
As good or better than pro service
from Oklahoma, United States
We have 2 grand dogs staying with us and one of them has occasional accidents. We have now used out power scrub 4 times. A month prior to that we had a service come in to clean carpets. Our carpets are vacuumed frequently looked very clean except for a few pet accident spots. Nevertheless, the power scrub pulled lots of dirt from the carpets. After cleaning, they looked even better than after the pro service but the Hoover Power Scrub left them much much dryer!! The spots almost all came out of our almost white colored carpets except for in a room that has a special high end carpet that apparently absorbs stains. Each time we clean though, even those are getting lighter. I can't emphasize enough how impressed we are with how dry the carpets are right after cleaning and how easy the cleaning process is. If you aren't getting similar results, try what I do. I make forward & backward pass on wash, then same on just vacuum (sometimes repeating these first 2 steps), then forward and back on rinse, then same again on just vacuum. Doing this seems to keep the carpet pad from beaming a sponge. The results have been impressive enough that our daughter wants to borrow it. So, we are now going to buy another Hoover so we can give her one. We may now try the max extract just to see if all those brushes make a difference on the high end carpet pet accident spots although not likely since hand scrubbing doesn't improve them either. Either way, we're very happy that we will never need to hire a pro service again. The Hoover Power Scrub more than paid for itself in just one cleaning. We're now definitely on the plus side.
