7.1 Surround for Immersive Theater Sound or Multi-Room Listening
With 80 watts per channel, across seven discrete channels, movies will be recreated with a theater-like level of sonic detail. Compared to conventional 5.1 surround sound, a 7.1 system takes the surround channels and further splits them into additional, distinct rear channels, for a truly immersive effect. So when you see the helicopter travel overhead in a blockbuster action movie, you'll also hear it move from in front of you, to beside you, to behind you, as it finally disappears. Pioneer MCACC intelligently analyzes your speakers' size and distance, and optimizes output specifically for your setup, making sure it always sounds its best.
If you decide not to use all seven channels for your home theater system, the the 2-zone system of this Pioneer receiver lets you put those extra channels to use in a separate room. Using this multi-zone system, one user can be watching a movie in 5.1 surround in one room, while another listener enjoys a totally different source in stereo, all powered by the same receiver.
Connectivity Galore, For AV Components and Mobile Devices
Like all models in the Pioneer VSX receiver line, connectivity is king with the VSX-1023. A USB port up front lets you play music directly from your iOS device or a flash drive, with support for nearly all popular music file formats. Next to that, you'll find an HDMI port that is Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) compatible. With this port, you'll be able to stream all forms of content, including 1080p video, directly from any MHL-enabled device. Around back, six more HDMI ports allow connectivity for all of your other home theater components. The Pioneer VSX-1023 can pass through both 3D and 4K UHDTV signals, so whatever your video source, this receiver can supply it to your television.
Entertainment Powered By the Internet
Because the Pioneer VSX-1023 is network-enabled, you'll also have an array of wireless connectivity and control options. Optimized for Apple Airplay, this receiver will let you wirelessly stream tunes from your iOS devices, or your desktop via iTunes. HTC Connect offers a similar option for HTC smartphone users, while the Pioneer ControlApp gives you the option to stream content from any iOS or Android smartphone, and even let you use your smartphone as replacement remote control. Integrated Pandora and vTuner internet streaming radio services round out the array of network-enhanced features in the Pioneer VSX-1023.
