Features

Total Purity Concept for the Finest Sound Quality
The Total Purity Concept, which Yamaha has been cultivating for many years, encompasses high drive amp technology, high purity pre-amplification, anti-vibration technology and independent pure power supplies. All models have a fully discrete power amplifier that helps to minimize distortion. They also adopt independent pure power supplies, allowing dedicated power supplies for the analog and digital circuitry to prevent digital noise from affecting analog circuitry. The anti-vibration heatsinks are designed to suppress vibration from transistors and sound pressure. Independent power supplies for the DACs are designed to further eliminate noise on certain models. Down to every detail, these AV receivers are designed with full emphasis on the highest possible sound quality.

Extensive Audio Codec and Format Support
This AV receiver is compatible with many audio formats such as Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™. They are also compatible with FLAC/WAV 192 kHz playback. You will enjoy excellent Blu-ray Disc™ sound quality and other types of high resolution sources.

Discrete Amp Configuration for High Sound Quality
This AV receiver was designed with a strong focus on achieving exceptionally high sound clarity. It employs a discrete amp configuration and a low jitter PLL circuit, which contribute to its excellent audio performance.

4K Pass-through for Next Generation Super High Resolution Images
This AV receiver provides advanced HDMI® features including 4K pass-through. 4K refers to four times the resolution of a 1080p display. While not yet available, 4K displays and sources are sure to become popular in the future. This receiver is capable of passing the 4K data from the source to the display, for image clarity far beyond present standards.

HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel
3D means the receiver can handle 3D signal data. The Audio Return Channel function enables data to be sent and received via the same HDMI cable so you can hear the sound from the TV via a single HDMI cable with no need for an extra optical cable.

Zone B Output Provides 2-channel Sound in a Second Room
Zone B output capability allows the receiver to send 2-channel sound to a second zone, so the main zone now has 5-channel output. This means that users can enjoy stereo sound in a second room. The same source will play in both zones (cannot use two sources).

SCENE for One-touch Start
Pressing a SCENE button powers on the AV receiver and selects the input source and DSP mode. You can reset the buttons for different sources by selecting a source and DSP mode, then pressing a SCENE button for more than three seconds.

HDMI CEC for Easy Operation
Another benefit of HDMI is the availability of CEC functionality. When the unit is connected to a CEC compatible TV, it will turn on and off together with the TV and you can use the TV remote to control the volume. CEC also provides advanced functionality with other components. For example, you can use the receiver’s remote unit to control player functions like Skip and Stop.
*All connected devices must be HDMI CEC compatible. Some CEC compatible TVs/players may not work.

Network Functions
This AV receiver provides a variety of network functions that enable you to access more sources and also enhance operation. You can connect the receiver to a PC to enjoy Internet radio, Pandora® and operate your system via WebBrowser Control. The AV Controller App (from iTunes App Store or Google Play) lets you control various functions from your iPod®, iPhone®, iPad® or Android™ devices.

AirPlay Allows Streaming Music to AV Receiver
This AV receiver supports AirPlay, which means they can accept wireless music streaming from iPod® touch, iPhone® or iPad®, as well as from iTunes on Macs or PCs. This makes it easy to enjoy music from your mobile devices or computer on your home theater system. You can use view metadata such as song title, artist name as well as album art* via AV receiver's on-screen display.
*Some models don't support album art display.

AV Controller App for Easy, Convenient Operation
This AV receiver lets you use the Yamaha AV Controller App that is downloadable from the iTunes App Store or Google Play to control power on/off and volume, select input and DSP modes and operate other functions from an iPhone® or Android devices. You can also use in as many as 23* different languages and customize the interface by hiding unused icons and renaming functions. A tablet version is also available.
*As of Spring 2013.

MHL® (Mobile High-Definition Link) Support for High Quality Video and Audio
MHL provides easy, direct connection of compatible mobile phones and this AV receiver. Playback of up to 1080p video and multi-channel audio from the phones is supported. The receiver also charges the connected phone. Play, Stop and other basic operations can be controlled from the remote control.

USB Digital Connection for iPod®, iPhone® and iPad® on the Front Panel
A USB port on the front panel allows convenient connection of an iPod/iPhone/iPad, which also charges when connected. Because the digital signal from the iPod/iPhone/iPad is transmitted directly to the AV receiver, there is no signal loss or interference, so you enjoy the best possible sound quality. In addition, you can use the receiver’s remote control unit to operate the iPod/iPhone/iPad music playback functions.

YPAO™ Sound Optimization for Automatic Speaker Setup
YPAO analyzes the room acoustics and adjusts various audio parameters for optimum sound in just a few minutes. It’s like having a professional installer calibrate your system.

Input Selelction in HDMI Standby Through Mode
When the AV receiver is in HDMI Standby Through mode, the input source (Blu-ray Disc™ player, game console, etc.) for viewing on the monitor can be changed via the remote control. There’s no need to turn on the AV receiver in order to switch sources.

HD Audio with CINEMA DSP 3D and Virtual Presence Speaker
CINEMA DSP 3D provides a wide, high and dense sound field. HD Audio format decoding lets you enjoy HD Audio sources. Virtual Presence Speaker delivers 3-dimensional sound without actual use of presence speakers.

Compressed Music Enhancer
When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. Yamaha’s Compressed Music Enhancer employs sophisticated digital signal processing using exclusive algorithms to restore what was lost, so the music always sounds the way it should.

Adaptive DRC (Dynamic Range Control)
Adaptive DRC automatically adjusts the dynamic range of the sound according to the volume level. This ensures that you hear clear dialogue and vocals, and all sound effects at comfortable levels. There is no need to adjust the volume level as you listen; everything from whispers to big explosions will be heard clearly and comfortably at the same volume setting. It also tones down loud TV commercials and is ideal for low-volume, late-night listening, when you do not want to disturb others.

Subwoofer Trim for Improved Sound Imaging
The Subwoofer Trim Control enhances the low frequencies by avoiding overlap with the front speaker output. This will result in a cleaner, more focused sound stage while providing a seamless frequency response. When subwoofer frequency overlap occurs in conventional systems, the overall sound is “pushed” toward the subwoofer. Subwoofer Trim Control takes care of this by separating the low subwoofer frequencies cleanly, thus stabilizing the front stage while providing a well-balanced enhanced bass sound.

Eco-friendly Design ECO Mode Lowers Power Consumption by 20%
Yamaha’s new ECO mode reduces power consumption by about 20 percent. It can be set from the top of the GUI menu.
*Compared to power consumption when ECO mode is off (Yamaha measurement).

Selectable Auto Power Down
Auto Power Down lets you save energy by selecting to turn off the power after two, four, eight or 12 hours.

Low Standby Power Consumption
Yamaha makes its receivers eco-friendly with a low standby power consumption of 0.1 W in IR Standby mode (1 W in HDMI Standby Through mode, 2 W in Network Standby mode).

Comments about Yamaha 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver:

For home theater use. Had originally purchased Sony STR 840 but when I turned it on you could easily hear a 60hz hum. Returned it for a second one and it had the same problem. Purchased the Yamaha Rx-v575 turned it on -- no hum no noise. Easy to set-up so long as you remember to turn HDMI "on" in the settings. ARC works well with my TV. Like the zone B speaker option. YAPO worked well.

Not quite sure why the volume needs to be turned up so high on the receiver in order for the surround sound (Energy Classic 5.1speaker system) to be loud enough. But other than that, its a very good receiver.

Comments about Yamaha 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver:

I purchased the Yamaha RX-V575 to add a new dimension of sound to my TV and Movie watching. I was tired of the TV speakers, and after testing a soundbar, I knew I wanted more. The V575 was a great pick because:
1) Excellent TV connectivity
2) Has Pandora built-in for easy use
3) Very good iPhone app to access all features
4) Great sound quality

Comments about Yamaha 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver:

We FINALLY upgraded from a perfectly good TEAC stereo receiver, driving our quite wonderful high-end Polk tower speakers plus a brand new 10" powered POLK subwoofer. (Our present living room isn't big enough to add surround speakers).

Using a Sony Blu-Ray unit (which at $80 plays SACDs, and Blu-Ray Audio disks, as well as DVD's, CD's and Blu-Ray movie disks) -- we are STUNNED at how much better our Polks "sound."

We're both trained classical musicians. This receiver is MUCH more "musical" and transparent than what we were used to thinking was "good enough." (Opera) voices, piano -- and every instrument in orchestral recordings are MUCH more "in the house" sounding, using this Yamaha receiver (which perfectly leverages the obviously superb-decoding capabilities of the Sony 5100 model disc player.

All of this added to our new Benq video projector is a trip! So thank you Yamaha, for bringing your decades of musical instrument AND audio-chip expertise to a unit this versatile, easy to set up and glorious sounding. Wow. Five stars.

Comments about Yamaha 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver:

I bought this to replace another brand of a (new) receiver which had too many HDMI pass-thru and related problems. I am very pleased with the relative simplicity of the Yamaha setup and workings and would definitely go Yamaha again. The HDMI pass-thru works just the way it should, unlike the other brand I had tried.
I think a lot of people find the remote a bit "busy", but I guess it has to be in order to run so many functions. However, I would easily give this a full 5 stars if the remote was simpler and if the USB - iPhone interface was a bit quicker. It seems that after selecting a playlist on the iPhone, and plugging in the USB on the receiver, there is a several second delay before the receiver recognizes the playlist and begins. When it does start up, it is great! Lastly, once in a while the receiver can get confused (must be the computer genes in it), and it helps to power it off and re-start it. I noticed this most recently while listening to my phone's playlist, where the receiver would not let me change the volume. It worked fine the next time. Overall, a very nice product, with very good sound.

Comments about Yamaha 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver:

This is a replacement for a Denon AVR-1909 that went out in puff of smoke this past Sunday. I thought that Denon would have lasted longer than 5 years.

The new receiver mainly used for the surround setup for TV and movies. I have only watched TV so far. I can tell that even though the Yamaha is about 2/3 the weight of the Denon, my speakers sound brighter and seemingly have more bass. I have Klipsch mains, a klipsch center speaker and a deicated subwoofer. Since I have not had time to do the automated set up, I can only say that I like what I am hearing so far. I run my surround system in 5 channel stereo mode for TV. I find I like this better than the vagaries of dolby digital for TV shows.

So far I like this receiver. When I do the automated YPAO this weekend I will have a better understanding of how this unit really works. For now, with only listening to the radio and limited TV watching this receiver does what I exect it to do.

About the remote, yes it could have been better designed. It is no worse than the remote for the Denon that this replaced. There are a few things that I think could have been better, i.e., there is no way to cycle through the radio station presets like what was available on the Denon remote. Is this really a deal breaker? No not really. I think I listen to maybe 5 stations on a regular basis. So I will set them up 1-5 and not think about it again.

What I do like about the remote are the WHITE center buttons. They are easier to find and use. Denon had a similar arrangement however I like these buttons better. These button both turn on the receiver and select the input at the same time. This makes it easier for my wife, who is not tech savvy, to operate the receiver with a minimum of fuss. That is not bothering me.

I agree with everyones statements about the lack of a manual. I like having a printed manual to read when I want to understand how the designers of the receiver and the software expect it to work. A receiver that is valued at $549 does not have the luxury of a printed manual? My last set of ear buds has a bigger printed manual than this receiver.

Other thinkgs I like about the product in no particular order are:
        Banana plug sockets.
        Biamp capable.
        Two optical inputs.
        Burr-Brown decoders.
        Eco mode.

We bought this to replace a Sony unit that was having problems. Very pleased with the V575 so far. It integrates well with the HDMI hookups to the Sony TV and Sony Blu-Ray. CD sound is excellent. Just got a new subwoofer and we are still getting that fine-tuned, but expect to be enjoying some action films real soon in full surround!

Comments about Yamaha 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver:

purchased the receiver for surround sound in a renovation. the company installing it did a great job.
i have not studied the owners manual yet so i mostly turn it on and off. i have figured out some of the controls on the remote through trial and error.
once upon a time, i was tech savvy and working to become an audiophile. i purchased my first yamaha receiver in 1975, a second in 1981 and a third in 1989, making this my fourth! i like my yamahas.

Comments about Yamaha 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver:

I upgraded from a 5.1 Yamaha receiver to this 7.2 unit. I purchased another Yamaha receiver mostly due to the ease of setting it up. Initially, I purchased an Onkyo receiver and exchanged it. The Onkyo unit was confusing in every way and looked like something out of the late 1970's. I will soon upgrade my music room with an Aventage receiver. I am sold on Yamaha equipment.

Comments about Yamaha 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver:

I initially purchased an Onkyo receiver. I downloaded the manual for the Onkyo unit and found it very difficult to understand and knew that I should stick with Yamaha, the same brand I was replacing because I wanted a 7.2 system, as opposed to a 5.1 set-up. I exchanged the unit for a Yamaha product. When I got the Yamaha receiver home, it only took me about 20 minutes to set it up. The remote makes perfect sense and is very easy to use. The Onkyo had more features but the remote was insanely complicated. I highly recommend this Yamaha receiver.
