I replaced a regular topload washer from probably the 1980s with this, so all the bells and whistles may be what is impressing me. However, after a month of using this machine, I am delighted! It is easy to use, and it fits a lot more clothing in each load. No problem washing my queen-sized quilts and blankets. My clothes seem to be brighter as well. They certainly don't have the crinkly feel of leftover laundry detergent any longer. Although the wash cycle is longer than with a topload, you can fit more in so it balances out. I have had no problems with vibrations as it is in my basement. I also haven't had any smell problems--I leave the door open as well as the door to the detergent area. Hopefully it will continue to be a great investment (can't wait to see my first water bill after using this machine!).

My 10 yr. old top loading Maytag was on its last legs, still working, just didn't sound pretty and bounced around my laundry room. However, to its defense, we are a family of 7. Anyway, purchased the Whirlpool Duet before Christmas, as a present for myself, I wish someone would come and haul this "huge paperweight" away. I carefully researched and reviewed before we bought it and it did receive good ratings. I'm not sure if we rcv'd a lemon or what. In 4 months, the last 2 it has NOT worked properly! Error codes, door lock issues, not completing cycles, over 20 phone calls to Whirlpool and the repair co. Five times, repairmen have been to my house. NEW parts have been replaced multiple times, we are currently waiting on yet another NEW part to be replaced. Whirlpool does not stand behind their product. They know the problems/issues are due to manufacturing, etc. But yet they insist on RESENDING out repairmen. The last person I spoke to at Whirlpool said, Mrs. XXXXXXXXX, sounds like your are looking to get a new machine...I laughed and said I HAVE a new machine, I just want one that works. So, here we are with a NEW machine that is sitting in laundry room, like a huge paperweight. NEVER, NEVER, again!! Stay away from Whirlpool.

Great Washing Machine

Comments about Whirlpool Chrome Front Load Steam Washer:
Our 29 year old washer machine finally gave up. I was very skeptical about front load washers, all the cons against the pros, but we finally decided to give one a try. I did a lot of research first as I wanted to make sure the washer I choose also had a gas dryer mate. This is a very user friendly washer, plus I am looking forward to seeing how much I save on my water bill as it uses so much less water compared to the older top load washer. I will be buying the dryer that goes with it in the future.

So easy to use!!!

I love how the machine knows how much water to use for each load. I used the sterilization on the machine for the first time on my towels. I was very impressed! Our old washer and dryer the towels came out with a weird smell. Not anymore! Thank you Whirlpool!

I bought this right before Christmas ,,im so glad I did..i do so much laundry having a disables adult child here.. this washer has cut that in half.. more time to spend with my son..
So easy to operate!
We're very pleased with the performance of this washer so far. This washer is simple to figure out and saves a lot of water usage compared to our old Whirlpool that we bought 10 years ago, and it was still working.

We bought the washer and dryer about a month ago and it has been great. They both have many cycles to choose from, and are quiet! Our clothes feel different and better than our last agitator washer.

I've had this machine for a couple months now, and I'm very pleased with it. It has more features than my last machine. I like the big tub. We have 4 people and 2 dogs and 2 cats, so I'm washing something all the time. The machine cleans very well.
Love how fast it washes

I had to replace my old dryer.. After speaking with my family members that own Whirlpool Duet washers/ dryers and love them. I decided to would buy a new washer also and I absolutely love it... I can't believe how fast it washes.

My first Duet front load washer & dryer lasted only 6 years and started having problems. I replaced them with this washer & a steam gas dryer. The first thing I noticed is that this washer is much noisier than my first washer. Then the washer would get stuck on the drain cycle. The repairman is still working on trying to figure out why. This week the dryer started making some strange noise - like something is loose inside. The dryer had already been repaired once due to a banging sound. Will definitely buy another brand next time around.

My clothes are clean and fresh everytime!

I bought this machine a little over a year ago and have been very happy with it so far. The only thing I will recommend is that you purchase an extended warranty with it if you have kids. Mine recently had to be serviced and I did not buy the warranty at the time of purchase because money was a bit tight due to rebuilding my entire home after hurricane sandy. Some how a sock and change and a charm from my daughters bracelet got sucked into the water draining mechanism and was causing the machine to not able to drain.

I purchased six weeks ago and am happy with the end product -- clean clothes. I have not had a front loading machine before so the maintenance is tedious, but worth it, I believe, in the long run, and hope it will last 23 years as our last top loader did. The machine is beautiful, but very sensitive. The slightest touch will interrupt a cycle. I would like to be able to change some settings that are preset, but it will not allow it. Seems to be much easier on the items being washed. Very quiet.
