I replaced a regular topload washer from probably the 1980s with this, so all the bells and whistles may be what is impressing me. However, after a month of using this machine, I am delighted! It is easy to use, and it fits a lot more clothing in each load. No problem washing my queen-sized quilts and blankets. My clothes seem to be brighter as well. They certainly don't have the crinkly feel of leftover laundry detergent any longer. Although the wash cycle is longer than with a topload, you can fit more in so it balances out. I have had no problems with vibrations as it is in my basement. I also haven't had any smell problems--I leave the door open as well as the door to the detergent area. Hopefully it will continue to be a great investment (can't wait to see my first water bill after using this machine!).

My 10 yr. old top loading Maytag was on its last legs, still working, just didn't sound pretty and bounced around my laundry room. However, to its defense, we are a family of 7. Anyway, purchased the Whirlpool Duet before Christmas, as a present for myself, I wish someone would come and haul this "huge paperweight" away. I carefully researched and reviewed before we bought it and it did receive good ratings. I'm not sure if we rcv'd a lemon or what. In 4 months, the last 2 it has NOT worked properly! Error codes, door lock issues, not completing cycles, over 20 phone calls to Whirlpool and the repair co. Five times, repairmen have been to my house. NEW parts have been replaced multiple times, we are currently waiting on yet another NEW part to be replaced. Whirlpool does not stand behind their product. They know the problems/issues are due to manufacturing, etc. But yet they insist on RESENDING out repairmen. The last person I spoke to at Whirlpool said, Mrs. XXXXXXXXX, sounds like your are looking to get a new machine...I laughed and said I HAVE a new machine, I just want one that works. So, here we are with a NEW machine that is sitting in laundry room, like a huge paperweight. NEVER, NEVER, again!! Stay away from Whirlpool.

Comments about Whirlpool Chrome Front Load Steam Washer:
Front loader uses less water and this is my second Whirlpool washer. I do not, however, like the fact that it takes longer to complete a "cold wash" cycle than before. Other than that, I like the washer.

So worth it!

Like most we had finally had a washer bite the dust. I always wanted a front loader but was reluctant because of the price. I'm so glad we invested in this!!! It's so weird to see how this machine washes!! So quiet and energy efficient!! Love this machine!!
very efficient machine

I am able to wash the smallest or the largest loads with ease. efficient machine.
Work great look great
Short and sweet...the look great and clean even better. I didn't but the pedestals at first and ended up going back and getting them...they are worth it again both aesthetically and functionally.

Bought this unit about 3 months ago. Unbelievably satisfied. Actually makes washing enjoyable. Have cloths that had previous stains that my old unit would not remove, added a stain remover and used the steam during the wash and they "all came out". Washed my bed pillows which I used to throw away every 6-9 months. They came out wonderful. this will surely save us money.
Love this washer!!!

This is a great washer!! Though sometimes the water gets stuck in the rubber tubing (where it comes into the washer at the start of the cycle) and if you don't clean that out, it starts to get stale and smells. Other than that, it works great!!!

I love the sanitize cycle. I do some house flipping and I come in contact with some nasty dirty messes. I need the extra cleaning on my clothes. It works like a charm.
Looks beautiful, but . . .

Bought this machine ten months ago to replace an 18 year old top loader so there was a very obvious learning curve getting used to how a front loader functions. Wish that the owners manual or salesperson had been more informative about the necessity of washing large enough loads. Since we are a family of two, we found that our loads were frequently too small, causing the machine to become unbalanced. This resulted in stalled loads or extremely noisy extra high speed spin cycles. Add in the problem of a defective bearing for the laundry tub which required five service calls and a complete replacement of the tub assembly and you have a dissatisfied and frustrated customer. The excessively sensitive control panel reacts to the slightest contact, sometimes even just coming close can cause it to react, a very annoying feature. The machine does an adequate job cleaning clothes and there are numerous options in selecting cycles, perhaps more than necessary. The tumble fresh cycle would be a good idea if I didn't feel I needed to babysit the machine while it is running to avoid problems with unbalanced loads. Cons outweigh the pros, especially since we have been warned frequently by the repairmen not to expect this machine to last even half as long as our previous machines!

Whirlpool Duet Steam 4.1 cu. ft. Front Load Washer

After thirty years of service my old Whirlpool washer and dryer finally gave out and needed to be replaced. I knew that I did not want to go with another brand name as Whirlpool has always stood the test of time and always has such high consumer ratings. So I did some research and now I'm thrilled at how quick and efficient my clothes are washed and dried, in fact, I love doing laundry! Thank you Whirlpool!

I bought this washer several months ago and I absolutely love it!!! I am able to wash large loads and my drying time has been cut down since the clothes come out quite dry. It is so quiet when it runs. Laundry is still a chore but this washer helps me to do it more efficiently. Extremely happy with my purchase.
