Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Diamond Piano Black Gloss Bookshelf Speaker, Model 805D2GB (Sold As Each)
As the flagship B&W speakers, the 800 Series Diamond line spares no expense in the quest to create the ultimate in reference quality audio. The Bowers & Wilkins 805 Diamond Bookshelf Speaker opens the 800 Series, offering the world-class sound reproduction trusted by the world's most famous recording houses in an unbelievably compact enclosure.
The 805 Diamond Bookshelf Speaker gets its name, and much of its unparalleled audio output, from the inclusion of the revolutionary B&W diamond dome tweeter. Extensive computer modeling led B&W to the discovery that diamond domes possess an ideal combination of light weight and stiffness, surpassing all other currently used speaker dome materials and resulting in significantly higher break-up frequency. Placing a 1-inch diamond dome tweeter into a signature B&W Nautilus tapering tube results in rich high notes with an unprecedented level of cleanness. Contributing the lower frequencies is a 6.5-inch woven-Kevlar dome bass/midrange driver, enhanced by a Flowport bass vent to minimize bass distortion. Silver/Gold/Oil Mundorf capacitors, made in Germany to B&W's specifications, comprise the 800 Series Diamond crossovers, which transmit a pure, undisturbed signal to the drivers. This combination of high-quality drivers and premium crossovers is what gives these B&W speakers their renowned sonic quality, which emphasizes natural sounds that accurately match the source material.
Of course, it takes more than just cutting-edge electronics to construct the world's best bookshelf speakers. The other half of the formula for the B&W Diamond Series speakers is first-class cabinet construction. An internal skeleton constructed of interlocking wood panels keeps the B&W 805 Diamond Bookshelf Speaker standing rocksteady in the face of even the most demanding pressure levels. This structure gets wrapped in a sinuous shell, crafted from an uninterrupted 35mm-thick sheet of multi-ply wood and finished off with the finest of veneers. This outer form not only looks stunning, its unique shape prevents the unwanted vibration and resonance often caused by the angled internals of a loudspeaker.
Since the company's inception, B&W speakers have been celebrated for their peerless pedigree. The 800 Series Diamond speakers push that dedication to the craft even further, which is why you'll find them at the Abbey Road Studios, Skywalker Sound and many of the top recording studios in the world. And with the compact size of the B&W 805 Diamond Bookshelf Speaker, you can fit that same sound in the most unlikely places in your home or office.
