It is a very good phone that syncs very easily with my Bluetooth devices. The battery seems to last forever in standby mode (I am not a heavy phone user). A little big and heavy for a flip phone, but given that it is water and dust proof, etc., it is understandable. My biggest complaint is that both the box and the manual says that it comes with a MicroUSB to 3.5 mm adapter - well, it does not. What appears happened is that when Samsung updated the Rugby II to Rugby III they removed the feature to plug a 3.5mm headset via the adapter, but they did not update the info on the box and manual. Why they would remove that feature is unexplainable given that the phone can take up to a 32 GB micro SD card and thus would make a terrific MP3 player during my frequent long flights. I could use the MP3 feature with a Bluetooth headset, but that does not work on an airplane. As it is now, the phone is not compatible with any Micro USB or 3.5mm headset. The prospect of listening to music via the built-in speaker is a non-starter

This phone is tough but that's it's best feature. The side mounted buttons interfere with just carrying this the PTT button when pressed accidentally in hand or holster bumps alarms and calls off when you try to answer the phone. The volume buttons also interfere. Once the PTT button is locked if you get a PTT call you must drop the call, go to three menus and then turn the PTT talk button on by then you could have just called. The front screen is not needed. if you need the time you must open the phone to see time on the front screen. My last Samsung phone was a Slider SGH-a777 and in my opinion it was the better phone between these two.

Shame they don't sell this phone or phones for Senior citizens in India
Comments about Samsung Rugby III AT&T Wireless Black Cellular Phone:
Shame they don't sell this phone or phones for Senior citizens in India I have nothing but respect for all their products not just quality but design and making them so user friendly but the only obstacle here is buying such a good product in India for my Folks who are over 65+ and smartphones are definitely not something they want, last 2 Smartphones I bought are used as digital photo frames So if you guys at Samsung read this post please let me know how I can buy your Samsung Rugby® III (AT&T) Flip Phone (SGH-A997DAAATT) in India hopefully in the year 2014 itself

Don't get it wet
Phone got wet from rain and quick working. Warranty is worthless along with phone. No more Samsung products for me.
Love my phone

Okay, I'm pretty tough on phones. I've put two in the drink and wore one completely out. Last models I had (not Samsung's) would pop apart and I had to put everything back together. But this Rugby is great. Never "flies" apart. Endures all kinds of torture. Hasn't been in the drink yet but is protected to 4 meters. I don't even want to be that deep by accident. Never misses a call, never drops a call. Use it for my alarm clock and I love that I carry my alarm every where I go. Easy to operate, pretty intuitive. I HIGHLY recommend this phone for the rugged guy. Also love the "rubbery" outer shell. Makes holding on to it a cinch.
Excellent as all Samsung products are
My husband has this phone and has had zero problems with it. He's been using it for about two years now.
It has GREAT water resistance!

My Rugby III fell out of my bag, and I didn't discover that until the next morning. The phone had been exposed to everything from a mist, to a torrential downpour, during the night. A friend found it, wiped it off, and sadly handed it to me. I opened it up, it was still on, with a full charge, and I made a call! I LOVE this phone!

Great standard phone
from Knoxville, TN, USA
This phone is a great phone. I like the durability of the device and the features. I do not need a smart phone The call quality is excellent and the speaker phone sounds great. The camera is low quality but that is not too important to me. The battery life is very good.
The only negative thing I had with this phone was trying to get a adapter wire for a extra headset. The phone came with one. You would think you could get extra accessories. Don't know what I would do if I lost the one I got.
Won't recommend to anyone.

My husband thought this would be a good outdoor phone for him but it hasn't been what he needed and is difficult for him to use.
My Samsung cell phone does everything I want it to do and more. Totally maintenance free it is ready to use when I need it most,
