At the time of purchase I was desperate because my previous fridge/freezer was destroyed in a flood. There were many other residents with the same problem and supplies were short. I bought my refrigerator based primarily on the excellent reputation of Maytag products and haven't been disappointed. I love it! First time I have had a bottom freezer drawer but the improved accessibility and visibility is wonderful. The fridge design, especially the Deli drawer and large and smaller fresh produce drawers are so convenient. The fresh filter works very well. I also like the split fold-back shelf that makes room for taller containers. Water dispenser and ice cube maker is very efficient. I wondered at first about the shallow shelf on the water dispenser but, it's not a problem. The door seal between the French doors seals in the cold. All in all - there's nothing at all to complain about! Good job. I'm a Maytag convert! Thank you.

This fridge is like the pair of high heels you just had to have but kill your feet when you walk on them ! It is very attractive exterior wise but inside it is poorly designed. I picked it because I only had 30 inches in width to work with. There are too few options for adjusting the shelves and door compartments. There is only room for one gal of milk on the door and most tall items like juice and wine won't fit. You cannot fit even a bottle of water on the top shelf and just forget about a jar of pickles or tomato sauce ! If you do adjust that top shelf, the space to the second shelf reduces to about 5 inches -- useless. The freezer compartment is okay but the ice compartment takes up a lot of space. Less space for ice and larger freezer component would be more useful.

Not as Happy as we should be :-(

Comments about Maytag Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator:
Ordered 7/10, Delivered 8/6 (with a dent & almost a month of warranty lost because it starts at order time apparently) with professional delivery & install option from Maytag/Whirlpool. Was contacting customer service the following Monday because despite flushing far more than the directed amount of water through the system it smelled and tasted terrible, and the filter had popped out several times. (the delivery guy said we didn't need to flush any water through it before we used it by the way, which goes against everything I know and everything in the manual.) Went through 3 customer service agents before I got some reasonable troubleshooting steps. One of them told me it was my plumbing (right, because the water in the fridge that it replaced produced excellent water, I must have bad plumbing that is causing this one not to - that makes sense.) I called back yesterday after having completed those and waiting it out to see how much it improved or didn't. We now have a service call arranged. We're also out of pocket a $60 filter for troubleshooting that nobody will reimburse us for or replace. Very disappointed in customer service and hoping this can be resolved. Clean, cold, filtered water is a must. If that doesn't work I'll be sending this thing back. The rest of the fridge? not bad, but this bad experience is rather overshadowing the rest. Perhaps I will update with a new review in the future. The previous fridge had great filtered water - wishing we hadn't replaced it right now...

We love the fact that the we didn't lose any fridge space due to the water dispenser. Love the freezer on the bottom. Tons of room and looks great too.

No cooling after power failure
After a recent power failure the refrigerator came back on in the cooling off mode. I was away for a couple of days, and by the time I noticed this issue, the contents inside were all warm. I called the Maytag support group and the gal I spoke to said it is possible for this to happen. This issue seems like a design flaw to me. No refrigerator should ever automatically turn the cooling feature off if it loses power, it should always recover to the cooling on state.

Good looking refrigerator

I like the refrigerator a lot it definitely works well. The only problem we have had with it is had to adjust the temperature so meat wouldn't spoil. And the door buckets although are nice for extra storage seem cluttered and hard to find things unless you know exactly where they are. Like having the freezer on the bottom but seems like its harder to fit things in there. You have to really stack and arrange things in the right order otherwise door won't shut properly. Really liked the looks of this unit.

I picked up my new fridge on July 11th, hooked it up, tried to get water from the door but nothing, opened the door to find water all over everything and dripping from the filter area. I can see where the water line is loose on the back of the filter housing but it needs torn apart, I called for repair and I have to wait until August 3rd for a repair man to show up. (I guess they're all doing commercials on TV because they don't have anything to do.) I have no ice and no filtered water for 3 weeks, also I ordered it on May 23rd and it came in on July 10th, I know that's not your fault but 7 weeks seems like a long time for shipping, I was also told my warranty started on the day I bought it, so now I've lost 2 months of my warranty. All of my appliances are Maytag and I'm happy with everything. This has been nothing but a bad experience and I will not be happy until August 3rd.
Efficiently designed for the size

We are thrilled with our new refrigerator; it's small and efficient and fits nicely in our park model. For the size we have so much storage and others in our park have been checking it out. The first one that came to our installer's shop was dented and while we waited for the next one it could have been sold twice.
