I needed a built-in microwave (countertop with custom built-in kit) for a 30-inch wide cabinet space. I also wanted a brand name that was known for reliability such as Whirlpool. Generally, I have a complaint that there is very little selection to chose from for built-ins. I would have paid a litttle more for a microwave with more features such as one-touch 1-min, 2-min, etc. time cooks. I was also a little disappointed with the fit and finish of this special order microwave through Lowes. There was a slightly bent side panel that you can see from the front and the door's top lines are not even/smooth with the panel area. Both of these were obviously factory defects that were not caught with quality checks. Additionally, even following the installation instructions to a tee, still left a noticeble gap (into the cabinet cavity) that is unsightly while the door is open. A better designed kit would have avoided this in my opinion.

This is a nice microwave, but the latch is very sensitive. For some reason, if the microwave is not sitting very flat, the door will not open when you push the latch. Also, when you push the latch, it feels cheap. We've installed this microwave in a cabinet with a trim kit, and the door will not open about 1/2 the time when you push the open button(latch). We have to pull the door while pushing the latch.

Bought this a month ago and I'm loving it. Great microwave. We had the a similar one in another house that went over the stove, we love this one just the same.

Third Unit OK So Far
By Dissappointed Owner
from Ave Maria, FL
Let's hope third time is the charm. This microwave oven is part of the appliance package provided by the builder in our new home. We are in the house about 2-1/2 months and had two of these units fail already. So far, the third unit is working OK. (We've had it about a week.) Whirlpool is not very customer-focused. When I called on 12/19 to report that the second unit failed, I asked them to expedite replacement so that we would have a working microwave oven to prepare Christmas dinner. This request was ignored. We didn't receive the replacement until 1/3. Whirlpool will not deviate from their standard process.

I bought this micro 11/25/15 and during that time I had difficulty with the door (even though it was shut, it wanted me to slam it), power cooking display never did work (and I thought that it was just me), but on 1/7/17 (13 months old) as I was heating a cup of coffee, the timer end of cycle buzzer would not turn off and the entire panel was blank. Had to unscrew everything to pull out so that I could disconnect.Having a service call plus parts will be more that a new one. I am limited in space so do not have much selection.
I have only had this microwave a couple weeks and so far I have no complaints.

Poor Customer Service
from Hampstead, NC
This didn't work out of the box. I called Whirlpool to have it replaced. I was told they would have to have the claim reviewed and someone would call me back. 2 days later I received a call saying they would replace. However, they have a third party do the work and the third party would contact me. 3 days later I received a call from the third party. After a lot of questions (ex. how many steps are there, how many landings, is the path to the door clear, etc.) I was told there was a 2 week delay, scheduled the appointment and hung up. 15 minutes later I received a call back and was told that because the kitchen was on a third floor they would not install it unless I called Whirlpool back and had Whirlpool authorize extra payment for the third floor delivery. I refused. Whirlpool never asked any questions about where microwave was located in the house. The lady with the 3rd party was rude and disrespectful. I finally told her to just have them deliver it and I would have my builder install it.So many problems with this. #1- it didn't work out of the box! #2-if you contract with a 3rd party, you should know what the 3rd party requires. Whirlpool should have asked about location in the house. #3-the claim shouldn't have to have been reviewed. It didn't work from the beginning. #4- it took a total of 5 days to even schedule an appointment AND then another 2 weeks before you could come replace it? #5-If the third party requires extra compensation for a third floor delivery then they should make arrangements with Whirlpool to get their money -NOT require the consumer to do so.The new microwave has a mark in the glass that won't come off. I'm just living with it because I don't want to deal with customer service again. The microwave seems to function fine. My problem is with the customer service.
Love my new, efficient microwave!

We had our kitchen renovated and the new microwave placed in its own special place. It was a shock to see how efficient it works. Guess our choices in the past were not as good models. Love using the new one!
Poorly Designed Keypad
Like all features and effectiveness.....works great however have to keep a flashlight on top to use keypad unless turn on overhead lights is kitchen. Not practical when using late at night if others are nearby in the family room!
Very quite, easy to read panel
I had this microwave oven for 3 months now, it's very quite and easy read panel, but to open the door need to press hard, I think I will buy one with the handle next time.
Stylish looks, quite

30 sec start is a good feature. I would have preferred door handle instead of push button. Otherwise, its a very good buy. Very stylish and works quitely. I have been using it for about 1 month now.
