Bought and installed this double oven myself - just needed assistance with lifting old out and new in. Moved from a single wall oven w/ Microwave above to a this double oven. Installed a new stainless microwave w/ vent in place of old vent hood above our gas stove. Only carpentry I had to do was remove the ledge between the old wall oven and microwave (ledge the microwave sat on). Once that was out I trimmed the entire opening to meet the specs of the new oven - doesn't have to be straight and perfect as the oven edges will cover. Be sure to test your wire connection prior to finishing the install. Obviously, turn off the fuse to your oven at your power box. Connect the wiring from the oven to the wiring of your old oven. Turn fuse back on to test that oven is working. Fuse back off and install the wiring back into the wall cavity and cover. Test again! First time I put the wiring into the wall one of the caps came loose and I lost connection. Once wiring installed and tests ok simply lift oven into wall and anchor w/ screws provided. Enjoy!

After several teething troubles including having to return the first oven because when I ran the first high temperature clean to reduce the odor of the new oven I discovered that enamel had chipped off the inside of the top oven at the back. There was no way this could be repaired so the oven had to be replaced (entailing another major disturbance). Then the replacement developed problems with the upper door hinge and also the digital control pad would not work properly, but fortunately these items could be repaired in situ. After that, things settled down, we have had the new oven almost 7 months now and so far so good. On the plus side, this is a really lovely looking oven, it looks beautiful in our kitchen, the lights inside make it sparkle. It cooks well, I have baked and cooked with it and everything was successful. Using both ovens I made a fabulous Christmas dinner, timing all the dishes, keeping casseroles and dishes warm (better than I have ever done before) and generally enjoying the whole (sometimes harrowing) experience of cooking Christmas dinner. Now that I am used to it, I really love this oven. But I DO recommend an extended warranty, the warranty is for one year, if we had had to pay for all the things that have gone wrong it would have been very expensive, it is also terribly inconvenient when things break down. I hope they improve the workmanship because on the whole it is a very nice oven. How I arrived at the three star rating. I would give it five stars for appearance, five for efficiency, four for reliability, (because of the digital remote) and two for workmanship.

Annoying Clicking Noise
from Alpharetta, GA, United States
Comments about GE 30" White Built-In Double Wall Oven:
Oven came with our new home. So fare it seems to work fine, but it makes a very loud and annoying clicking noise the entire time it is warming up and running. The noise is actually louder when it is warming up. It sounds like a relay, turning the heating element on and off, but this shouldn't occur during heating up and it is noisier than the new whirpool oven we just left in our old home.

I upgraded to this appliance when I purchased my new home. I love the double oven and the great capacity for several items to be baked at the same time.

GE Ovens are the best!
from palm springs, ca
This oven replaced an older GE wall oven I had in a kitchen remodel. It's an excellent oven. I use it often and I love having double ovens in my kitchen. It made the best turkey we have ever enjoyed this past Thanksgiving. My model does not have convection, but I'm kind of old school so I don't miss that feature. There was a small learning curve using this new oven from my old GE. This one runs a bit on the "cooler" side, so I either bump up the temp 20 degrees or just add on to the cooking time. Knowing this, I love how the oven performs. Baked potatoes, bread, cookies - you name it, it cooks everything I've given it like a 5 star chef. I LOVE GE appliances. They may not be flashy, but they are workhorses! Every appliance I own is currently GE and I don't have any service or performance issues with any of them.
there is a learning curve with this apliance

timer and clock function is somewhat confusing with dual ovens
Have to turn ovens off to reset temperatures. Manual dials would be an asset? Temperatures are not very accurate and fluctuate too much.
from San Diego County, CA
Bought this double-oven late last year. Good looking, great accuracy in temperature, though the pre-heat is a bit longer than I'm used to, probably due to the lower elements being located under the oven floor. THat's not a problem as it makes clean-up a snap. I wish I could turn on the oven lights independently rather than having both ovens light up with the same switch, but that's just me. The temperature controls and timers are easy to use. The racks, of course are interchangeable from one oven to the other so you can have one for the roast in one oven and three in the other for holding. They also have an "opening" in front so you can easily pull them out and in without having to be too careful about burning you hands. There are no "Hot spots". Everything cooks evenly. All in all, a good buy.
