This is my first Android phone coming from two iPhones during the past 3 years. So far, the phone has performed as expected, meaning it has performed according to what the other online reviewer said. I expected the camera to be good but not as good as with the camera on the regular S4. The screen is actually brighter than my old iPhone4 and the sound coming out of the tiny speakers at the back is pretty loud. This is not a tough phone so I bought the only case from the ATT store. It's a Case Mate Hula bumper case for the Active. Though I knew it didn't have the dual camera, I still miss it after playing around with it at the store. Battery has been fine though I wish it lasted longer. I've had this phone for almost 3 weeks and the battery life have gotten a bit better. During the first couple of weeks, I couldn't put the phone down so the battery never lasted one full day. I always had to charge twice a day. Once everything settled down, the battery now lasts a little more than a day. I would still recommend a spare battery if you're planning to spend the day outdoors. One big feature why I chose the Active over the regular S4 is being waterproof. So far the phone has been submerged a few times in 3 weeks and has resisted water. Of course, I followed the instructions not to exceed 3 feet and 30 minutes under water. I love to be able wash my phone when it gets dirty, something I did regularly with my iPhone4 inside a LifeProof case. I wish the S4 Active was more waterproof than it is now because I really wanted to take it with me when we were swimming in the ocean at Cancun last week. Instead, I took my LifeProofed iPhone4 to take beautiful water action shots. Nevertheless, knowing that my S4 Active will survive an accidental splash or occasional torrential downpour makes me feel at ease. I really love this phone and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an Android phone that can handle water within reason.

I had the Samsung note 10.1 for a while and liked it therefore when my phone was stolen last June I went to the AT&T store and was convinced that a switch from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S4 Active was a good choice for me. What a terrible choice!!! First, and this is maybe the fault of AT&T rather than Samsung initially the specifications of the phone were mistakenly given to me - specifically I inquired about the differences between the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy S4 active, and other than the screen size and the weight I was told that the active was superior. I most say that at the time given that it was before the official release of the Active there were not a lot of reviews as to the differences on the web. Later I found out that there are several other differences, one major one for me been the quality of the camera which is Superior in the Samsung Galaxy S4. But given that my phone was stolen and I needed a new device I purchased the Active relaying on the misinformation given. I could have let the camera issue go - if it was not for the fact that merely 4 days after I purchased the device it went dead - completely "the black screen of death", which apparently after a quick Google search was a common malfunction in earlier version of the Samsung Galaxy - completely died, given that my phone was on vibrate I could see (rather feel) that people were calling me but I was unable to answer or do anything. I was away at the time at a place with no AT&T store which was horrible, I felt strained as I could not do anything without my phone/emails and etc... This never happened with the 3 years I owned an iPhone. Between flights I went back to AT&T to ask to replace the device - they would not let me switch back to another device! After further convincing I agreed that I most have gotten a lemon and that I should try another device. My second phone lasted a mere 10 days, this time the battery would drain faster than it would recharge, I was away again and could not make it back to the AT&T store in time for the 14 days exchange after you purchase a device - so they would not agree again to exchange it! After screaming and yelling they gave me a new battery and power cord and the phone would charge reasonably (and promised to send me a new device). I receive my third device however it was refurbished and I did not agree to accept a refurbished unit given that I merely owned the phone a month out of which a third of the time it was not working, not to say that the refurbished device was over-heating (to the point where I got a note on the phone that it is stopping charging the device due to over-heat) so I returned it and asked for a new device. I am currently at my fourth device and this time it worked fine for a month however now it is not connecting to the Wi-Fi it keeps disconnecting randomly, further it drops calls, and again the battery is draining super fast and it over-heats. I HATE THIS DEVICE !!!!! I am not a fun of Apple but I wish I could go back to my iPhone - yes it was more restrictive and not as fun, however it worked! and when it comes to a phone this is all I am asking it to do, don't over heat, get my calls and emails and be reliable - the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is definitely not that! I am very scared to go away with it as I do not know if it will work or drop dead on me, it is definitely not what I was expecting when I purchased a Samsung product and taints all my experience with Samsung products, I was waiting for the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition to come out, but now I seriously second guessing myself whether I would ever want to buy another Samsung product again. I AM STUCK WITH THIS PHONE AS AT&T BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL NOT LET ME DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, HOWEVER IF YOU CAN AVOID IT RUN AWAY FROM THIS DEVICE AS FAST AS YOU CAN !

Comments about Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Dive Blue 16GB AT&T Wireless Cellular Phone:
I broke my iPhone 5s and decided to go try out an android, and this one was inexpensive and very practical. I have enjoyed my month with the phone, still finding out new creative ways to mess with the phone, and that is what keeps you hooked. With an iPhone you know what you are getting, but with a Samsung the possibilities are endless. There are so any wonderful things to say about the phone, but I believe I have said enough.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I had the galaxy 4s before and just upgraded to the note 4. I love it, it is an awesome phone, especially if it used for work purposes. It is so much easier to review documents on the larger screen and I love having the styllis. I still have to figure out how to use tthe multiscreens, but I know I will be using them all the time. Love the screen resolution, its beautiful. The battery lasts for a long time as while. The best part is the rapid charging. My old phone was dead by noon and I'd have to find to charge it every day. This phone is fully charged in a very short time - 30 minutes to 50%. its awesome!
I've had a couple galaxy s3's then switched to the s4 then when it broke I found an s4 active and I liked it since I already had had the s4

Great for all dangerous outdoor activities where inclement weather may be a factor. Easy to operate and setup. Highly recommended. Intend to purchase A Samsung Galaxy S6 Active if it becomes available.

Samsung has installed way to many unused appt that consumes so much battery, that I need to charge at least twice a day. Replaced the battery after only 6 months of use, thinking it might be the battery not holding a charge. Not the case, its the phone.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
the most durable smartphone you can own
I've had this phone for about 7 months now. When i initially bought the phone i was concerned about getting a case but 7 months later i still haven't bought one. This phone goes everywhere with me. Its been washed, dropped crushed. Truth be told I'm a mechanic and i just cant kill it. I applaud samsung for such an amazing and versatile phone.
This phone does not have the "Find my Mobile" app on it. It is also difficult to put download music.

My son's IPhone is a better phone and one year older.
Keep dialing 911
Physical buttons keep turning on the phone to emergency dialer when PIN code is employed. I have called 911 several times and this is just not good, so unfortunately I have to turn off my PIN security and I am using a app from the Google Play store to have some decent security. Otherwise the phone has worked well thus far.
Good phone, bad GPS
from Jacksonville, Florida
I used this phone for about a year. I was having problems with my GPS quitting while using Google Maps. I had to turn the GPS off and then back on again to get it to find my location as I was traveling. I took it to my provider and they suggested uninstalling certain apps. I did this but it still didn't fix it. So, I reset the phone and it still gave me issues. About the time I grew tired of the issue, the S5 Active came out, so I bought that and have not had any GPS issues since. It is a great phone! The only issue I had was the GPS.
