This washer operates differently than my previous top-loaders. It doesn't use much water or soap, so it makes me think it's not working right, but the clothes come out nice, fresh, and clean. The absolute best part is that my 2 and 3 year-old grandkids LOVE pulling up chairs and watching through the glass top the laundry churning and going round and round. They enjoy the "music" and lights that the power and selection buttons make. Best money I ever spent!!

After one month of ownership, I'm so fed up and disappointed with this machine! I did lots of research and thought it was going to be an amazing machine to replace our fabulous 29 year-old Maytag that finally died. Initially, it seemed to work okay with light-colored clothing, but when it came to navy work pants and other dark clothes, it is a total loser! I washed them 2 times and used extra rinse cycles, but they still came out covered with loose dirt that was redeposited all over them during the spin cycle. I had to brush the dirt off and wipe the pants down with a clean damp towel to remove the deposits. The towel was filthy afterwards! How can they say that this machine is good? I even cleaned the machine with bleach as recommended for each month, but that made no difference in the performance. There just simply isn't enough water going into each wash to carry away the dirt. And there's no filter for the dirt either. Also, the spin cycle may remove most all the water, but the clothes are all wrinkled afterwards! I have to set the spin cycle to low just to keep the wrinkles down and then I have to fluff the clothes in a hot dryer for 5 minutes before hanging them or else I'd have to iron everything. (Yes, we prefer to hang our laundry to save on energy). I want my money back and a regular old fashioned washer again that actually cleans the clothes!

Tells you when to clean it!

Comments about Maytag Bravos Granite Top Load Steam Washer:
After 30 wash cycles, this machine tells you to do a "cleaning" cycle. I simply love this. I tend to forget how much I wash clothes and it conveniently reminds me when to use a cleaning cycle. There are so many types of cycles to use it is amazing. I typically hate technology but I love my washer.

Good to Bad
By Cynthia Melville

Bought the HE Bravos XL Steam washer and Dryer set in 2014. When we first got the pair we loved them as we should have since they were around $1000 each. About 2 years in we started having a balance issue with the washer but I figured it was just the clothes were put in the washer incorrectly. Also the latch on the dryer door popped loose so we always have to move the latch so we can get the door to shut correctly. I didn't get the extended warranty on these appliances which seems to have been a bad mistake because just recently we cannot even get the washer to complete a spin cycle now. I have even removed all of the clothes from the washer and tried running the spin cycle and it still stops with the dreaded UL code indicating the load is unbalanced. So frustrating to have purchased a washer and dryer for around $1000 each only to have them not work properly in a matter of 2.5 years. I guess I would have been better off buying the less expensive washer and dryer set since I have never seemed to have a problem with them and they lasted longer.

Large capacity HE top loading washer is wonderful

I got this almost a year ago, and have been so glad to have it. The only thing I don't like is how you have to start from the beginning of the cycle if it gets messed up. In that, I miss my dial where I can just put it on rinse, or whatever part of the cycle I want. I think this is the case for about any update models.
My Bravos XL® HE Top Load Washer is leaking water
By Lun Cham

I was so excited when we purchased this washer. Loved the steaming feature, but we have not had it more than 1yr and it is leaking from underneath. Apparently this is a common issue with this model. I wish I would have known that. Nothing more annoying than paying top dollar for an appliance and it not working well! To top it off it damaged out floors.
bought it a year ago no problems
Been using it since thearly past 2 years and love it!

Doesn't wash well
Doesn't add enough water. I always have to run the extra rinse cycle. Clothes don't come clean either. I love the super large capacity. If I could return it, I would. It seems no store will accept the return of a large appliances with this complaint.
Amazing !!!! Packed with more features then you can use.
Amazing machine. No problems whatsoever, and very quiet and Efficient. Clothes look great especially with amazing built features such as low spin cycle and temperature controls just to name a few. Also has sanitizing wash for very dirty laundry overall very happy
excellant washing capabilities
Bought this July 4th. Compacity is just right for our needs. I do like the sanitize feature.
Washes great but sad to say that I wouldn't buy again.

I've had the washer for about 7 months now and wanted to return it right from the beginning. I can't complain about the way it cleans but there are a couple of issues I wish that I had known or realized. The washer is very LOUD! It sounds like a jet plane taking off and can be heard from anywhere in the house so no washes can be done before I head off to bed. Another issue that I realized is that there is no way to just run the spin cycle. I washed my bedspread and it was full of water with no way to get rid of it. So all in all, I would look elsewhere when I need to buy another one.
