This is an update after my wife and I have lived and cooked with this stove for a couple of months. The only drawback we've seen is that the cooktop already has a scratch and mysterious pock marks around a front burner. The owner's manual says the marks are pitting caused by burned sugar and cannot be removed. But neither of remember sprinkling sugar anywhere near the burner, and we have gone out of our way to coddle the cooktop and keep it clean. Otherwise, we're still pleased. I'll paste our previous review below: This slide-in range is a big step up from other stoves we've had, and we are just now getting used to some of its many features. We were unsure whether we would need or use the convection oven, but after trying it for a few meals, we can see why people like it. The multiple inner-and-outer top burner sizes are a nice feature, and so is the warming burner in the back. We also like the large, well-lighted oven with a window big enough to check on your cooking. The electronic controls were a little intimidating at first, but we found them to be intuitive and easy to follow. The range also has a solid feel in comparison to some of the other brands, which seemed flimsy. The warranty is good, too (five years on the cooktop). That cooktop is a little hard to keep clean, but so far we're doing OK with it.

This is a good looking slide in. But the top is very touchy! To clean it you need a product like Weiman cooktop daily cleaner plus a microfiber cloth. A paper towel takes twice or better longer to get the desired results. The first week I wiped with a cloth before I should have and have left a lasting (forever) blemish. I hadn't even burned any food on it! It takes longer to bring water to a boil (using #5) than my 35 year old electric range. That's not a plus! The oven is super sized and baked goods come out ok. The convected roast setting is super. The controls are easy to use. The timer is so soft you need to be standing next to it to hear it. I called the service people and was told that it is what it is! I purchased it for the size limitations I have and I needed a new range.

You will need to buy a separate timer because the stoves alarm is so soft you can't hear it unless you are standing next to the stove.

Great overall looking front design and future reach . Operating it make wonders if anyone tested in real field and installations. Installed between cabinets making operating cabinets doors impossible. During operation both range and wood cabinets became hot.

            Less than a perfect design

              Best Uses

Our previous slide-in range had insulation around the entire oven door. This oven/range has a gap of maybe 8 to 10 inches at the bottom of the oven door which lets a good portion of the oven heat escape into the the drawer beneath the oven. This means that opening the drawer while the oven is heating to grab a pot holder or utensil can be challenging. A nuisance more than anything mechanical is the difficulty keeping stainless steel front free from smudges and the constant attention to the glass top is less than ideal. The operation of the oven and the units with the dual knobs that allow two of the units to actually accommodate 4 pot/pan size is a very nice design. All in all, it is a good oven/range with the exception of the heat being thrown into the storage drawer during cooking.

                Beautiful stove with flaws

                By

                from New Windsor, NY

We love and hate this stove at the same time. It's beautiful and works great, but there are issues. The top of the stove is very difficult to maintain. You can't just wipe it clean when finished cooking, as it shows everything and the stains seem to burn on the surface. Even water droplets mark the surface, so we have to polish it every time we use it. It also scratches very easily. It was hard to install, as you can't adjust the back legs once you slide it in place. For quality control, our stove had some minor dents under the plastic coating, which we couldn't see until the stove was installed. It also had a chip inside the oven door.

Knobs turn on if you brush against them

                By

                from Undisclosed

Did not lean against the knobs, I simply brushed against them. Had the unit 3 days, accidentally turned on burners twice. Not good. Also, you CANNOT CHILDPROOF THESE KNOBS!!! The way they go on the stove, there's no way to do it. Samsung confirmed this via live chat. My only option is to remove the knobs and only attach them when i'm using the stove. Or climb under the cabinet and unplug the unit when not in use, as suggested by Samsung. Freaking splendid idea Samsung, thanks! Problem #2: soup bubbles (soft boil) on the lowest burner setting. Samsung's response: common problem, don't worry about it. Well, every other stove I have used over the past 40 years never made soup bubble on the lowest setting (below a 2). I wish I could throw this stove back at Samsung, but I can't since my countertops were built around the stove. I'm really sad that I spend so much money on a product that I hate.

                    Excellent range!

                    By

                    from Tyler, TX, USA

I've had it for about a week and have been cooking almost non-stop. I never used a convection oven before and so far this one hits a home run every time. I thought the control panel would be difficult to learn after using a range made in 1981 for a number of years but it's easy to follow. The only downside? It looks so awesome I think I really need to remodel my kitchen!

Had it 2 months & already realize it was a huge purchase mistake. Afraid to cook on the ceramic cooktop. We can find NO WAY to clean it. Water boiled over twice while cooking pasta & shrimp, & we can find NO WAY to clean the mess. Top already looks like it has had 10 years of hard use. Bought the special ceramic cooktop cleaner & pads, etc., but they are totally useless. Cannot fathom why they put a top on a stove that is so delicate &/or impossible to clean. Will keep us from EVER buying another product with a Samsun label.

Comments about Samsung Stainless Steel 5.8 Cubic Foot Slide-In Electric Range:

Owned for only one week, but we are well pleased with the range so far. Oven pre-heating seems a little slow, but effective. Surface units seem to control temperature very well. User manual is very well written, but there is no mention of caulking around cooktop during installation. I caulked around the cooktop with clear silicone to prevent spills from getting underneath the glass top.
