I got this washer a few weeks ago, and I must say I was really shocked on how well it worked...a lot of reviews stated that the washer was loud I'm sorry they must have been talking about another model because I have it in my basement and I do not hear it run at all. I do like the fact that there is a place for all that you use in the washer such as soap or softener. I do have the gray or chrome model and I do have to wipe it down often but that is nothing it comes clean with one light passing of a damp rag . the controls are all touch you hardly have to touch the controls and they light right up and let you know what you have selected. With this model I can fit a lot of clothes in it without it bugging over loaded and they come clean and spin out very well. Another thing I have seen people complain about was the time it took for the washer to wash the clothes well its all on the settings you use a normal size load runs about 58 min and that is with me having the spin cycle on a faster spin. The longest would have been 1hour and 58 minutes and that is with pre soak bulky load with the steam cycle ...which was a kings size blanket...Now I'm about 5'4" and for some thing that are in the washer I do have to stand on my tippy toes to reach but even with the washer off you can turn the tub so that you are not reaching all the way to the back of the tub...that's a big plus for me. what I recommend to a friend course I will and after showing my mother how well this set works she is now buying one her self.

the machine does a fine job at getting the contents clean. my question is that our unit does make excessive ratcheting noise while agitating the clothes. Is this normal? we are concerned that this irregular noise is a sign of potential failure. we purchased the washer and dryer because they were advertised as quiet. the dryer lives up to this claim. the washer does not.

Comments about Whirlpool Cabrio White Top-Load Washer:
Love the HUGE wash tub. We are able to wash a ton of laundry in one load versus small multiple loads with our 15 year old Maytag Performa. Clothes come out clean and fresh. You just need to understand how to properly layer load, and how much detergent to use. But after a few loads you get the hang of it. Its not super quiet, but never goes off balance. The clothes practically come out dry, which means less time in the matching dryer!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Love the huge capacity

Very large capacity is great, but the agitation cycle seems to be very noisy. Also for a short person it is very hard to reach the clothes at the bottom. I have to use a step stool. I bought the set because of the great looks.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Very Happy with the 5.3 c. ft. Cabrio
I enjoy the large size. Very easy to wash bedding!

I purchased two months ago. I didn't even realize that my clothes weren't getting cleaned with my other washer until I used this washer. Excellent!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this washer

After reading many reviews, I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer set. It does makes some strange noises at the beginning of the cycle, but not as loud as some had described. The amount of clothes you can wash at one time and they come out clean is amazing. I have had to remind myself that I can wash large loads and add more clothes. All types of clothes come out clean and fresh, from denim, towels and delicates. Would highlyl recommend!!

Love the machine but find it too noisy.
So much room!!

Life without an agitator is amazing! We have king bedding that looks new after one wash because it has room to move it and detergent around. Very quiet during wash cycle. Just can't say how much I love it.

I purchased the washer/dryer combo a few weeks ago and love it! I opted for the larger washer and it works great!

My 2 yr old Cabrio needed a $880 repair so I just upgraded to this washer during a 4th of July sale. It cleans very well and I like the steam option for very soiled items. The higher capacity makes up for the longer cycle times. The beginning of most cycles is a little louder than my previous model when it was new, but the noise level is still acceptable with my laundry room door closed. My laundry room is right across the hall from our kitchen, so we are usually very close to its location when it's running. I have enjoyed the detergent and oxi dispenser trays and the oxi option works very well on soured dish towels. One small feature that I really like is that the digital display shows a bright "DONE" message after a load is finished until the lid is opened. So, any time you walk by, it is a noticeable visual reminder that you have load that needs to be put in the dryer. Overall, I would definitely recommend, but with my experience with my last one, definitely get the longest extended warranty available (repairs on these high tech appliances can be extremely expensive).
Very Disappointed for a Whirlpool

We bought a matching pair of Cabrio W/D in Feb 2012. Love the dryer but the washer is terrible. It twist the clothes up in knots, it doesn't use enough water to rinse itself so after about 2 weeks usage it starts to smell. I know they want you to use refresh but for the cost of that it's no longer hi-efficient. I believe this unit to be very poorly designed and wish we had our 20 year old Speed Queen back as the clothes were much cleaner and not damaged
