I got this washer a few weeks ago, and I must say I was really shocked on how well it worked...a lot of reviews stated that the washer was loud I'm sorry they must have been talking about another model because I have it in my basement and I do not hear it run at all. I do like the fact that there is a place for all that you use in the washer such as soap or softener. I do have the gray or chrome model and I do have to wipe it down often but that is nothing it comes clean with one light passing of a damp rag . the controls are all touch you hardly have to touch the controls and they light right up and let you know what you have selected. With this model I can fit a lot of clothes in it without it bugging over loaded and they come clean and spin out very well. Another thing I have seen people complain about was the time it took for the washer to wash the clothes well its all on the settings you use a normal size load runs about 58 min and that is with me having the spin cycle on a faster spin. The longest would have been 1hour and 58 minutes and that is with pre soak bulky load with the steam cycle ...which was a kings size blanket...Now I'm about 5'4" and for some thing that are in the washer I do have to stand on my tippy toes to reach but even with the washer off you can turn the tub so that you are not reaching all the way to the back of the tub...that's a big plus for me. what I recommend to a friend course I will and after showing my mother how well this set works she is now buying one her self.

This model is certainly a step up from even last year's. I have used both. But the grinding noise during agitation is just too loud and becomes irritating. Can be heard 2-3 rooms away. The bleach dispenser no longer rinses with fresh water, which means two things: You need to measure the bleach since you can't see how much has been poured in, and worse, the drops of leftover bleach are on the surface of the dispenser, just waiting for your color clothing to rub across it the next time you do a load of wash. The latch receiver for the lid is more like a very small tray, which catches every little piece of dirt or lint. The electronics remember the last cycle used, but I wonder why they don't remember you used a 2nd rinse? The highest spin speed is very quiet, but I don't believe it removes as much water from the clothes as the previous model, however, this also means the clothing isn't as wrinkled from a harsh spin cycle. The selections of various cycles are nice and quickly learned. There is a "Deep Water" option, however, don't think you will get a full tub of water, but it's still a welcome option to add a couple of gallons to a wash. Interestingly, the water temperature selection has 5 choices, soil level has 4 choices and water temperature 3. Because your only guidance are the blue lights below each control, it would have been better to have each of these wash options have the same number of choices. Ladies may not appreciate that there is no inset for your fingers to go in to when raising the lid. I bet we'll hear about broken fingernails at some point. The tub is deep, as you would expect for a washer this size, and controls the load well. No out of balance issues so far. The 3 compartment dispenser sticks out a bit in the tub, and more than once it has opened part way when removing laundry from the back of the tub (laundry catches on the front edge of the dispenser tray) And finally, the start/end of cycle chimes... They are a little bit of heaven. Not annoying, very pleasant. Just wish they were louder on the loudest setting, so could be heard in another room. Overall, a much better choice than previous models, if they would do something about the grinding noise during agitation.

Nervous About Drum Sludge - Using Little Detergent
from Lake Forest, CA, United States
Comments about Whirlpool Cabrio White Top-Load Washer:
I like this washer - I really do. I love the digital features and it does a great job cleaning our clothes. I've been reading a lot online lately, though, about these HE washers getting a lot of sludge buildup on the inside of the drums due to people using way too much detergent at each wash. I've drastically cut down the amount of detergent I'm using and and hoping that I don't have this same issue.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I should be able to override water levels

Washer works just fine but these HE washer make it really hard to control the water level yourself. If I want to use ore water I should be able to.
Dryer and Top Loading Washing Machine
By Happy in Chattanooga
from Chattanooga TN
I really like the wrinkle guard feature on my new dryer, and the light inside. Also, I like how large the dryer is inside (I am able to dry a bunch of bulky things at once). I had a front loading washing machine before and it was full of rust and mold/mildew! I love my new top loading machine! I got the one that holds a ton of things to be washed--it holds/fits twice as much as my old machine! I am 5'5" and have to be on my tip toes to reach the bottom of the machine- which is fine with me. My clothes get nice and clean. I leave the lid open when I am finished washing --to let it dry out (I think I read it in the instructions you are to do that).

I love the way it spins the most all the water out. Cut drying time.

Soap Stays in Clothes
The soap (no matter what type I use) stays in the clothes. There is always lint all over the clothes after they are washed. The washer does not wet all the clothes or move the clothes around - they just sit in the washer without even washing them.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Worst machine I've ever owned - in 25 years!!
from Grand Rapids, MI, United States
I bought a Cabrio washer and dryer a little over a year ago and am SO disappointed and frustrated! Like many of the other reviews, it does not clean the clothes well, leaves detergent on the items (and yes, I did read the manual, and DO use High Efficiency detergent, and I DO load the clothes evenly, etc), and ties up the jeans and slacks into knots. They come out so incredibly wrinkled and no matter how much you try to shake/smooth them out, the dryer then bakes them in, even with the 'wrinkle shield' button on (seriously? you have to push a button every time if you want the best wrinkle response from a dryer??). I have 3 sons who all play multiple sports, and their uniforms are always dirty and stinky. My previous Whirlpool machine cleaned them very well with just pretreating (and, no, it also did not have an agitator). This one does not clean stains at all. I have to pretreat and soak them in a sink first, and then dump them into the washer, since there is no 'soak' option (I was told by the dealer that it was no longer necessary)! In 25 years of owning or using various washing machines, I've never had such poor performance. I was talked in to buying this machine by the dealer, when we really went in to buy a dryer, as our 20 year old dryer had just died. I SO regret that decision. I want my old one back, but I gave it to a friend's daughter, and she loves it!! I'm shocked by any positive reviews for this machine. Maybe Whirlpool has fixed some of the problems with the Cabrio in the last year, but they should stand behind the serious issues they put on the market with this model!!!

bought this 1 month ago, it is great to do only 4 loads of laundry
from Lexington, KY, United States
This dryer is definitely faster than my previous one, due to the increased capacity. I am disappointed in the steam feature, however. I was thinking I would never have to iron again! But, that is very much not the case. My items are still as wrinkled as they would be in any dryer, even after the 22 minute steam cycle. Disappointed...
