I must say that my old Washer was American Made and it lasted for over 20 years. When it finally gave out I looked for another American Made Machine. While I don't think my new Maytag is totally & entirely Made in America: it's the best there is and I'm really happy with it. I can't believe how quite it is. I forget I'm doing laundry. I've actually thought of getting a timer so I know the load is finished. I wish it had a 'ding' when the rinse/spin cycle finished. I was thinking of selling my house & thought it would sell better with a Washer/Dryer Combo. However, I'll be taking this Maytag with me when I move and am confident it too will last 20 years plus as my old Washer did.

I have several issues regarding the dissatisfaction with this washer. I wish my old one had not broken. My old one was quieter, Got the close cleaner, had a 'soaking' cycle', and most of all.....emptied ALL the water at the end of the cycle. My laundry and laundry room smell sour. I still have water enough to slosh under the drum at the end of the spinning cycle.

Comments about Maytag Centennial White Top Loading Washer:
Very pleased with my purchase. I found it hard to make a choice of washer, but went for a combination of good price and good name. Washer does a wonderful job of cleaning the clothing and there is plenty of room within. I like the choices for settings - there is a huge range. Very happy with purchase.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I really love my Maytag washer, especially the extra-capacity and the handwash.
does the job

I bought this washer after my original washer of 24 years finally bit the dust. After I was unhappy with a used washer I bought, I purchased this Maytag washer. I am happy with it overall, although I have found that the washer doesn't fill as high as you might think for the large and super levels. I don't see how you could possible wash 16 towels at once unless they were hand towels! My other problem is how hard it spins the clothes during rinsing. It has literally ripped a grommet off my daughters pants after the cord got stuck under the agitator. That said, it gets the job done, and seems to clean my clothes as well as my old one.

Our new washer has more than met our expectations. It is faster, quieter and more efficient than our previous washer.
Great price but not so great washer.....
Have had this for 15 mos. now. Nothing wrong with it, I just do not like certain aspects of it. Has a lid locking feature that I was not told. I know, I should have researched more thoroughly, but when you need one then, some things you just don't think of. They should have told me too !!!! It will empty the water if you are not back in time to close the lid. With it locking you can't add stuff. Washing throw rugs sometimes gets unbalanced, even though it is supposed to be self adjusting, and will "walk" on you, so I have to stand there during the spin cycle to see what its going to do. And also with the locking lid, you can't open it to see if it is rinsing all the soap out of the clothes and I have pulled some out that you can tell still have some soap in them and had to go thru the whole cycle again to rinse them. You just can't turn it on extra rinse and it work like my old one. I have learned a lot on this one!!! I'm going to contact Maytag next week to see if they have a see thru lid they can swap out on it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bought myself this washer/dryer set and liked it very well. My daughters washer went out so I bought her the same one I have as she has a family of 5 and this is a more commercial washer which fit her needs. She loves it.
back to basic
After trying 3 new washers with all these sensors & special features we went back to a Maytag top loader. I really don't need nor want to put that much thought in doing laundry or should have to!!!! separate darks & lights that's it. no these new ones jeans in 1 load shirts in another. I don't think so, I have a full time job, I don't need another one doing laundry!!!!!
Features I was looking for.

Having owned a Maytag washer before, it just seem right to own a new one. They just keep getting better year after year

I am very pleased with this washer. I was told it wouldn't handle a large bed spread but it does. The tub is deeper than other models. It's ideal for what I need and priced right. Why pay for a lot of features that you know you won't use or need.
