Our brand new GE Café microwave was just installed, and we couldn't be happier. It replaces our original GE Café microwave, which was installed in our vacation home in 2010. We occupy this home fewer than 50 days per year. It worked perfectly and we loved its features and appearance. However, after 4 years of very light use the touch-screen control panel (used only on this older generation of the Café model) failed.GE Service told me they could send a technician, but because it failed so prematurely and was used so little I asked to speak to GE's Customer Relations department. After being transferred to another number, the GE representative walked me through a brief troubleshooting procedure and determined that our model was eligible for a special program. Under this program GE replaced our microwave with a new model at no charge.A week later our new microwave was installed, and we are just as pleased with it as we were with the first one. This new version is very similar, but it uses an updated control panel. Instead of a touch-pad it has a rotary dial to select features as they scroll across a digital display.I have had many GE products over the years and have always been happy with their support. This recent experience has certainly renewed my high opinion of their products and customer service.

It can NOT pop popcorn thru the Popcorn button & after you use the sensor, it takes time before the sensor will function again. On the convection side, wait 10 minutes after it has it reached the correct temperature before you use it, because they put the thermostat in the wrong place & will not actually be at correct temperature. We baked a potato using the microwave & only the bottom half was cooked. Never had this problem with the last 2 microwaves.

Poor quality. Handle peeling.

Quality issue, design flaw, not properly tested. The handle has peeled and looks horrible. This is an over the range microwave that can't withstand the heat from a range. Do not recommend buying and would expect more from GE and for the price.

Needs some improvements

Nice appearance; and, heats extremely well. I really dislike the dial. It is awkward; and, not user friendly. I also am very disappointed that the clock time does not display for longer than thirty seconds. My understanding is that this is to comply with government energy standards. If so, why bother having the clock at all? A thirty second display is useless. I had to buy this to replace the older version of this model, which died just after five years. Considering that the Cafe line is the top line of GE, I was expecting more from this product.

bad bad bad no clock ---the clock is on only when you open the door.very very annoying

A couple months ago we bought all new GE slate appliances for kitchen I am tickled that I can actually make cookies and my new confectionery microwave and I'm in love with the new slate color

With the purchase of a new oven and dishwasher this microwave matched the style and was functionally better that the vent that it replaced. We were able to get our old microwave off the counter and free up counter space.

Underpowered compared to my prior Cafe series MW

The ventilation fan is very noisy, the keypad is inconsistent with other prior Cafe MW versions, and brackets made installation problematic as compared to my prior Cafe MW; which I would have assumed should have made a Cafe MW replacing a Cafe MW an easy affair; IT WAS NOT...!!!
Great for what I needed

I just wanted a basic over the stove microwave. It's more than basic. Took a few times using to get used to the dial button but love the microwave. Really easy to use and heats evenly.

I HAD to buy this microwave to replace my 7 year old Cafe microwave that died after very little use. Dimensions were the same and it matched my Cafe stove. It was cheaper to replace than repair. Pathetic! It is made much more cheaply. And the dial feature is a pain- it's really not intuitive at all. I despise the stainless interior - it is much more work to keep clean. and I hate that the clock does not stay on all the time.

Our microwave's computer stopped working after 18 months. The product warranty is only valid for 12 months. We purchased GE Cafe with the expectation that their reputation, quality and customer service would be worth the investment... So we purchased 6 high-end GE appliances at once. In the 18 months since purchase, 4 of them have failed, all around the 18 month mark, all outside of the 1-year warranty. Buyer beware!
