I wanted a double-oven, gas 30" range to replace an existing range. I compared this with models from Frigidaire, KitchainAid, LG, and Whirlpool. All have their benefits but the GE has the largest ovens and I felt the best value. I also compared with the GE PGB950SEFSS. I found four significant differences: * This model has a porcelain top surface, the 950 is stainless * The 950 has a double-ring, 19,000 BTU boil burner - this has a single-ring 17,000 BTU * The 950 has dual broiler burners, this has one broiler * The 950 has a ball-bearing roller rack (I believe just one of the three) where this has all standard slide racks Other than the porcelain (which I actually prefer), the other 3 improvements are nice - but for $700 difference in price I'm glad to have had this option and 95% of the benefit.

I’m very unhappy with this oven for a number of reasons. First, the preheating temperature indicator is not accurate. Regardless of what temperature I set my ovens to (top and lower), the oven will signal that it has reached the set temp after around 5 minutes. I always have to wait at least 10 minutes longer, sometimes 15, for the oven to actually reach the set temp. An indicator that’s consistently unreliable really serves no purpose at all. The next is the nauseating plastic-like smell that wafts from the oven at baking temps of around 350 and up. This oven has been in use for over 4 months, which should have been enough time to “break in any factory smells. Then there’s the mysteriously sawed-off screws on the underside of the griddle plate. There are scratch marks on the plate to indicate that the screws have been filed down as well. I have been sent a new piece with unmarred screws, but I have to question why my supposedly brand new oven arrived appearing altered in the first place. The continuous grates, while facilitating ease of movement of heavy pots and pans, is very difficult to clean. There are three large, inter-connecting pieces, which do come apart. But each piece itself is too large to clean in any normal kitchen sink. I’m limited to wiping it down as best I can with a sponge. Even that is a challenge, because there are narrow grooves in the corners which make it almost impossible to wipe clean. On top of these four issues is my biggest complaint, which is the fact that one side of the oven heats much hotter than the other, the difference being up to 50 degrees F at times. I discovered this the first time I baked a batch of cookies in the upper oven. The cookies on the left side of the baking sheet had burnt bottoms. The ones on the right were fine. I tried baking in the lower oven and got the same results, although less drastically. I went and bought two identical thermometers, calibrated them with equipment from the professional lab that I work in, and even with corrections made for the errors in these thermometers, found that the left side of my upper oven bakes up to 50 degrees hotter than the right side. This is simply unacceptable. Apparently, there is no adjustment that can be made to remedy this problem. The problem, it seems, is in the oven design itself. Baking is the main feature of any oven, and mine can’t perform even this very basic function properly.

When I moved into my new home the back left burner doesn't light unless I light other burners first. After 3.5 months the lower over doesn't heat as well anymore. it took me 2 hours to cook banana bread and over two hours to cook a meat loaf.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I love this stove, except for the top oven has a terrible odor, that we cannot get rid of. Hope they will send service tech to help us figure out. Will keep updated. Will give 5 stars if this problem gets solved. So giving benefit of doubt, I would recommend totally.

I've been using my new stove for 2 months and every feature is working beyond my expectations. It's so nice to have two ovens. I even confirmed that an 18 pound Turkey fits easily in the bottom oven.

LOVE THE LOOK AND FUNCTIONS OF THE OVEN AND THE REVIEWS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES! THERE IS ONLY ONE TIMER AT LEAST I THINK SO IF YOU ARE BAKE IN BOTH OVENS. BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS USE THE MICROWAVE TIME TOO RIGHT. LOOKS AWESOME WHAT AN ADDITION/UPGRADE TO MY KITCHEN. THIS MY FIRST GE APPLIANCES PURCHASE AND LOVE IT. ALL OVEN I FOUND THESE DAYS DON'T HAVE A INDENTATION ON IN THE LOWER BACK OF THE OVEN TO ALLOW ROOM FOR THE GAS PIPE STICKING OUT TO THE WALL AS MY ORIGINAL 11-12 YEAR OLD OVEN SO I HAVING A CONTRACTOR COME IN TO RESET THE GAS PIPE IN THE WALL. OH WELL ALL OVENS THESE DAYS HAVE STRAIGHT BACKS.

To me, gas stoves are superior. The combination of conventional and covection only increases the versatility. The lock out features are a great idea!!
