We received the range just 3 days before Thanksgiving and it was just what we needed! We utilized the convection baking feature in the lower over to bake pumpkin pies and other baked goods a couple of days before the holiday. They came out great and the oven was so easy to use. The morning of the big day we were concerned with the size of the lower oven as we had a 22 lbs brined turkey but it fit with no problem. Using the convection roast setting at 350 degrees it was fully cooked in 3.5 hours. It turned out beautifully- skin was golden brown with just the right amount of "crunch" while the meat was tender and juicy. As our guests arrived, each with their own side dish, the upper oven became essential as we cooked or re-heated their dishes while the turkey continued to cook in the lower oven. It was a beautiful sight! In fact, we received compliment after compliment from our guests and more than one person stated "I have to get one of those for our house!" During the holiday weekend we utilized the griddle feature on the middle burner to make pancakes. It was easy to use and we're loving each new feature we utilize. The only issue so far has been the temperature of the upper oven which is off by approximately 50 degrees too low. GE is sending a repair tech to make an adjustment-- our appointment was available just 3 days after we requested service. All is all, very pleased with our purchase and would highly recommend the unit.

Have owned this range for a couple of months and am afraid to use it -- only used it a few times. The top of the range should be a more durable product other than stainless steel -- it scratches just from gently wiping it --never mind having to worry about spills and getting them wiped up without totally scratching up the stove top. It is a very poor choice to have stainless on the top cooking surface of the cooktop -- would certainly not even consider purchasing this range again -- am already regretting it! Paid too much money for a product that will look totally scratched and overly worn in no time --extremely disappointed it this product. It is pretty to look at, but certainly not practical to use! I think G.E. should create some sort of a fix to cover or replace the existing stainless steel "range top" to the "unhappy people" that have already purchased this easily scratched range top! Paid way to much money to have a new product become old looking and misused when it has not been!

Propane users have a lot of work to do

Comments about GE 30" Slate Slide-In Gas Range:
A total of 11 jets have to be changed to LP and the pressure regulator plunger has to be reversed to run LP. Clean looking unit, fits in many openings and covers the gap to the counter top. Only negative thus far is it shows finger prints.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

THE ICING ON OUR CAKE!

We have never owned a gas range before in all of our homes, and now that we own this GE Gas Range, we will never go back! It has surpassed ALL of our expectations. The cooking is faster and the look is professional and sleek!
Powerful oven at a great price

We've had this stove a month and it is great. I cook a lot and the power of the burners is great. Cooking temperatures are accurate. It also looks really nice!

Lower oven quit after 2 years of barely being used . Power burner lights on occasionally since day one . Would not recommend . Stay away from this overpriced piece of junk .

Great if you ignore some cons

The oven and stove top are perfect. The buttons/display can be hard to see in certain light. The light bulb went out in a matter of months and the bottom storage tray is hard to open and close.

Propane buyer beware
The small portion of the double large burner does not work with propane. That should be something that a buyer should be informed of before purchasing. Very disappointing.

We bought the Cafe range last month and not only does it look great, but it has terrific features, like delay start, griddle and power boil. I really like it!!
Gas vs Electric
from Toronto Canada
We just had the stove installed (bought the same model but in Canada) and previously had a standard electric coil stove. I was excited to try gas for the first time and made boiled eggs this morning only to realize that the handle of the pot got too hot to remove the pot without an oven mitt. My kettle handle also got too hot. I made sure the element was not larger than the bottom of both so am quite surprised about this fact, never read anywhere when I was researching that this is the case. In comparison as well, our 13 year old coil electric stove boiled water much faster. It looks great, I guess it will be a learning curve I will get used to, have to get up earlier now to make my breakfast before work!
Good stove but few issues
from Ankeny, IA, United States
The look of the stove is nice and the gas elements work well however the touch pad controls are VERY sensitive!! You can just run your hand across it and it turns on the stove. Needs to definitely be fixed for future models. Also after having the stove for 8 months I started to get an F76 error code. When researching online apparently this happens and its an issue with the control panel and will continue to happen if not replaced. Approximate cost to fix is $600 when out of warranty. Mine was still under warranty however when I called GE they insisted that I just unplug it and that would fix the issue it did not. Service person is coming but we shall see.
Waited awhile to purchase....love it!
