Love the Slate color and Double oven.

Comments about GE Free-Standing Slate Double Oven Gas Range:
The Slate color looks great in our kitchen. No fingerprints at all on the doors, but the handles for the ovens are stainless, so you'll see the usual smudge marks/fingerprints on those. Also, the burner top is a nice gloss black, but drop a few crumbs on it or have a little spillover and it looks like it wasn't cleaned for a week. Takes a little more maintenance to keep it shiney, but that's true with all dark colors. Love the double oven. Saves energy not having to heat up the larger oven just to heat or broil a few things. Pizza, cookies, small roasts all fit fine in smaller over and cook well.A few design issues. Upper oven door doesn't close as tight as we feel it should. ABT Service came out and did their very best to adjust the door, but the upper left part of the door doesn't sit flush due to the light switch actuator pushing on the door. Tech said the actuator spring is a bit heavy duty for the lightweight door and causes the door to not sit flush. Door does still seals well from what we can tell, just doesn't look the best. You may need to relocate the gas supply line behind your current stove. Ours came through the wall at about the center rear of the old stove. With the double oven there is no recessed cavity on the rear side of the stove, so the supply pipe/shut off prevented us from pushing the stove all the way against the wall. Gas supply valve has to be located more toward left rear corner when facing stove. Had it relocated by a local handyman for $50, but be aware you may need to do the same. Both ovens heat well and bake well. Like the different sized burners to match pot/pans to burner size. Another oddity, when turning on ONE burner, the ignitors for all 5 burners will spark at the same time. Thought something was wrong, but per the manual this is the way it's designed. Why you would need 5 ignitors to spark when lighting one burner doesn't make any sense, but there must have been some $$$ savings in the manufacturing process for it to be made this way. Overall, not a bad unit, but for the money would not have expected a few of the issues I mentioned above. GE is the only one that makes the Slate color, so not many options to mix/match with different brands.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
