Product Details

Dyson DC40 Origin Upright Vacuum , Model DC40ORIGIN

Dyson DC40 Multi Floor is a lightweight Dyson Ball™ upright vacuum cleaner with the latest Radial Root Cyclone™ technology. It generates high suction power at the cleaner head, which automatically self-adjusts for different carpet types and hard floors.

Features:

  • Radial Root Cyclone™ technology
Conventional vacuums rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. But when you start to use some bagged machines, dust can clog the tiny holes in the bag. Some ordinary bagless vacuums work in a similar way. They use a central filter to trap fine dust, which can clog too. Suction drops, leaving dust and dirt behind in your home. Dyson’s patented cyclone technology captures more dirt than any other cyclone. In Radial Root Cyclone™ technology remodeled airflows maximize suction power. Improved flow efficiency reduces turbulence and preserves air pressure, so more microscopic particles are extracted by the inner cyclones. These refinements help remove more dust, allergens and pet hair from the home.
  • Ball™ technology for upright vacuums
Dyson Ball™ uprights ride on a ball, which pivots on the spot so you can steer with a turn of the wrist. The ball also houses core technology, including the motor and ducting. There's less clutter, so it's easier to clean into awkward places, along edges and around furniture.
  • Strong suction at the cleaner head
The cleaner head self-adjusts to maintain optimal contact with all floor types. It lowers on hard floors to remove more dust and pet hair from crevices and corners. On carpets, the base plate raises or lowers automatically, allowing the brush bar to remove pet hair and particles caught in the carpet fibre. It's designed for outstanding performance across all floors - not just carpets, but the whole of your house.
  • Lightweight and durable
Made from modified blends of materials selected for strength, flexibility and tolerance. Many parts are made from polypropylene reinforced with 20% glass fibres and high-impact PC-ABS. Using these materials means greater strength from less plastic – so the machine is lightweight.
  • Certified asthma & allergy friendly™
This vacuum is certified asthma & allergy friendly™ by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. Dyson cyclones are able to capture microscopic particles including pollen, mold spores and bacteria.
  • Instant high-reach wand
A built-in hose and telescopic wand that can be pulled out in a single action. The wand and hose are engineered to extend to conveniently clean stairs and high places. Tools click-fit to the end of the wand or hose, giving more cleaning options for hard-to-reach places.
  • Hygienic and quick to empty
Emptying the bin on a Dyson vacuum is quick and hygienic. Just press the button to release the dirt. The bin is clear, so you can see when it needs emptying – and how much dust, dirt and pet hair the machine has captured. Dyson vacuums were the first to have clear bins – despite market researchers insisting it was a bad idea. Now clear bins are everywhere (though not all are made from the same ABS polycarbonate as riot shields, like Dyson bins).

Dyson knows what they are doing by making different versions of vacuum cleaners. Choose based off of design needs, not price. I originally bought the DC40 because it was significantly lower in price and my last 6 or 7 vacuums from competitors only lasted a year each, if that. I had no idea what the hype was all about and anticipated a break down in the next two years. I wish I had spent the extra cash then. This little trucker kept on working! And I'm not talking normal wear and tear. I mean as good as the day I bought the thing! SO GOOD, that by the 6th year running solid, I was looking for ways to break it so that I could upgrade to the Dyson that fit our family. This vacuum is good for small households, maybe single people or newlyweds with a cat or small dog in an apartment or condo. In that situation, its a decade investment, minimum. We grew into a household of 6! Us and four kids, countless daily visitors, 2 dogs, a cat, and the occasional loose chicken in the house that the kids would bring in from the yard being chased by dogs. Complete mud-covered chaos. NO JOKE, THIS VACUUM HANDLED IT. I can't give it 4 stars for having a shorter cord, a smaller canister or needing frequent filter washings and roller cleanings. This vacuum was designed for someone other than me and I should have purchased the vacuum that fit my family. FINALLY it broke. I sucked up a sock and the roller came popping out. I assure you, this is not a design flaw. The vacuum suffered 6 long years of abuse, twice daily until it finally caved. My mother-in-law even got mad at me one year and my neighbor caught her vacuuming up roaches, dirt and rocks in her garage! We think she actually had been doing it for a week straight. AND I WAS SO MAD WHEN DYSON SAID I COULD REPLACE THE ROLLER BECAUSE IT MEANT I DIDN'T HAVE AN EXCUSE TO GIVE MY HUSBAND TO BUY THE DC65. Fortunately, he agreed that we've outgrown the little engine that could and we are purchasing the DC65 Animal Complete this week. I am giving the DC40, which still works somehow, to my sister, who lives in a quiet apartment with a cat. THANK-YOU DYSON!

Prior to purchasing the Dyson DC40 I heard that it was well worth the cost. Sorry to say I disagree. There isn't enough suction and you have to keep vacuuming the same area for it to get clean. I have used other vacuums in the past years that had a much better performance and cost less. Having the ball on the bottom does not allow you to get underneath a bed since the ball blocks it. If your vacuuming 2 to 3 rooms you have to keep emptying it out. Overall I am not satisfied with the Dyson DC40.

Comments about Dyson DC40 Origin Upright Vacuum:

I have owned the DC40 for a year now, and I am very satisfied with it, and haven't had any problems. However, I'm going to order the Absolute V6 cordless for convenience of cleaning. The V8 Absolute isn't needed because I have the upright. This has nothing to do with the operation of the DC40. I have mostly hard wood floors and stairs, and feel the cordless vacuum may be better for me. Plugging it in and out of outlets is a hassle and my house is big.

Comments about Dyson DC40 Origin Upright Vacuum:

Initially I loved this vacuum. Then, after about two months the plug got bent. I was able to bend it back myself. Then, about six months after I had it, it started not working quite as well. Now, less than a year after I bought it, it will not turn on.

Comments about Dyson DC40 Origin Upright Vacuum:

We purchased a Dyson DC14 (purple) and absolutely loved that vacuum, lasted me over 10 years and when a part broke it was still sucking like new. We decided since we loved the first Dyson we ever purchased that we would invest into our 2nd one and chose this one. Sad to say this is the worst vacuum we have ever owned, the suction is weak and today the neck broke from the base of it. It snapped from pushing it up into the straight position.

Comments about Dyson DC40 Origin Upright Vacuum:

Sadly, my DC14 tank-of-a-machine was out of warranty and wasn't working so instead of repairing that wonderful machine, I purchased the DC40. Absolutely detest this machine. The hose and cord are shorter, the suction forces me to run over a piece of lint multiple times, the attachment brush at the end of the hose is very difficult to remove (and is necessary because it's essentially useless). The good points are it's a Dyson machine that is very easily cleaned and taken apart.

Comments about Dyson DC40 Origin Upright Vacuum:

I replaced an older model with this DC 40 last year. It is not as durable and feels like cheap plastic. I cannot roll it on its wheels without having the handle portion flop backward into vacuum position. It does have good suction but I worry about the attachments and the extension wand since that is what broke on my older model.

Comments about Dyson DC40 Origin Upright Vacuum:

We love our vacuum it has worked better than any other brand we have had. We used to go through vacuums every 6 months or so. They would lose their suction. We have had this one for 9 months and its still working great! it's not heavy so its easy for me to take up and down the stairs. I would recommend buying this one.

Comments about Dyson DC40 Origin Upright Vacuum:

This is my 2nd Dyson, have an Animal model DC41 purchased in 2010. I don't like that you have to pull down handle to use, I prefer the way it was before that you put your foot on the red bar to release the lock to vacuum. I find that it releases when going from tile to carpet & vice versa. It works well but does tangle more than the older model. I like that it's light weight. I feel like Dyson is not making the machines as durable as they used to which is unfortunate because I really like the vacuums

AMAZING VACUUM!!!!!

By

Comments about Dyson DC40 Origin Upright Vacuum:

My old vacuum quit, which used a bag. I wanted a bagless vacuum. After much research about Dyson vacuums, I decided I wanted one. Our home has hardwood and carpet. In one room we have a 12x12 area rug on hardwood. After assembly of my new Dyson DC40 Origin, I vacuumed the 12x12 which had been vacuumed a few days earlier with the old bag vac. It was AMAZING the lint and crud that was in the Dyson canister. Such a small area had this much dirt. I then rolled it onto the hardwood and turned off the brush bar. It was also amazing how it maneuvered. I could have pushed it with one finger. Yes, it is just a vacuum cleaner but if you want a cleaner home, buy a Dyson.
