Purchased as a Christmas present to my wife and me. Replaced a 12 year-old non-GE, good quality, smooth-top free standing range. We wanted a range with the controls on the front, no reaching over boiling pots. Very pleased that this installed without needing a back filler. Looks very elegant & high-end. FYI -the installation guide states the unit won't sit down low enough for our 35 7/8" high counters, min counter height is listed as 36", but it adjusted down to fit with no problems. Induction top is amazingly powerful and extremely easy to regulate, the setting adjustments are fine enough to make it simple to hold whatever heat level you want. Anything you've ever heard about induction cooktops is true. We purchased an inexpensive single element countertop induction unit (1800 watts) to see what we thought about induction before buying this range. We thought induction worked pretty slick but with the much more powerful wattage on this range's cooktop it takes it to a whole new level. Forget radiant electric or gas once you work with induction for a bit. I had read reviews complaining about noise from induction cooktops but I've only noticed noise from the cookware, not the cooktop - cheap pans seem to make a bit of noise but no more than our old radiant cooktop made cycling on and off so that has been no issue at all. I appreciate the controls, seem well designed - for example, when you select an oven function, the keypad lights up the keys you need to hit next, temp setting for example - very intuitive. I also like the fact that when you turn on an element or the oven the indicators for that are red vs. green for other non-cooking functions, easy to see at a glance if you have anything turned on. We've also been very pleased with the oven. Previous oven worked fine but didn't have things like a chime to let you know the oven had reached the set temp and was slow to reach a setting. This range heats quickly and does chime to let you know it is at temp. The roller sliding rack was something I was insisting on, tired of struggling to drag a heavy pot or turkey out of the old oven. My wife cooked up a batch of chocolate muffins that we have been making for years on the old range with surprisingly better results. This range bakes better without using convection than our old range did with convection. We're very pleased. The old range is in the garage and is on its way to be donated to our local affordable housing authority - it has always worked as intended but the difference with how much better this GE range is pretty amazing.

The Good News and the Bad News Two days ago, my wife and I had the GE PHS920SF2SS induction electric slide in range installed in our home. It's beautiful! We have not had a range in over a month. The reason for the long wait, we couldn't decide between a competing manufacturer's electric induction slide in range and the GE electric induction slide in range. We picked the GE based on the availability of GE's authorized repair service in our area and GE's reputation for reliability. The competing manufacturer's authorized repair company would have to travel over 100 miles one way from Columbia, SC to Charleston, SC for repairs. GE has local authorized repair technicians in Charleston. However, we didn't think we would need GE's repair service so soon. We boiled several pots of water just to test the power boil burner. It worked great. Then, we decided to bake some biscuits. That's when we realized the "door lock" light for the oven was on and would not shut off whether the oven door was open or closed. The door lock light code prevents the operation of the oven even though the oven door is not really locked. We read the manual back to front for troubling shooting tips and googled for more troubleshooting help. We tried everything. Nothing worked. So now, we have a GE repair technician coming to our home only 3 days after the range was installed. The good news: we don't have to wait 2 weeks for a competitor's authorized repair technician. The bad news: The GE PHS920SF2SS went down only 4 hours after installation. Update: It's been 4 days since my review above. GE repair technicians have twice attempted to repair our new range. The oven continues to malfunction. No biscuits yet!

Fast and easy cooking

By

from Lake Orion, MI

Comments about GE Profile 30 " Stainless Steel Slide-In Induction And Convection Range:

We really wanted an induction stove that slid in, and this fit the bill. It cooks great with fast heat up and cook times versus regular electric glass cook tops. It has 5 burners also! Stove turns off instantly when you take the pan away. My only complaint is that it's too easy to turn on the stove controls when wiping the stove down and just leaning on the front control panel. Since the burners won't turn on without a magnetic pan, this is not a big deal, but just a minor annoyance.

HOORAY! My family finally eats dinner!!! AWESOME!

By

from Texas, United States

Comments about GE Profile 30 " Stainless Steel Slide-In Induction And Convection Range:

I must say, I have never been one to enjoy cooking and never thought I would but WOW was I wrong! This oven has truly been so amazing and I am just shocked at how precise the entire oven works. It fits so nice and clean into our kitchen and brings a more sophisticated look which that alone is appealing, but when I first turned on the oven, I was impressed with how fast it preheated and how fast just a pot of water began to boil! I am serious when I say that I have started cooking more for my family (which of course they like) because without any other way to describe it, this oven just makes me happy! I especially like how you don't have to lean over hot burners to turn knobs when cooking and that there aren't any knobs anyways! That is huge for me because I never felt capable of cleaning my old oven real good since the knobs would never really come clean (Severe OCD hinders my ability to accept things which are not problematic but in my mind seem to be). I'm even baking stuff like cakes which anyone who knows me well can testify how very out of character that is for me. Not any more. Folks, if you are seriously looking to purchase a new oven, I do hope you will really consider this exact model. I don't work for any companies, nor am I anything more than a housewife who cares for four boys and a husband so I hope you will keep that in mind when searching for your next oven because from my experience and genuine opinion, you will not be disappointed with this one!

Great Range

By

Comments about GE Profile 30 " Stainless Steel Slide-In Induction And Convection Range:

Even my snooty brother was jealous of this range's features - warming drawer, warmer on top along with induction cooktop and fantastic oven. I was a lifelong gas range user but now induction is my first pick.

Beats gas and a lot safer

By

Comments about GE Profile 30 " Stainless Steel Slide-In Induction And Convection Range:

We have had our new GE induction range for 3 months and can not find a negative thing to say about it. We have learned very quickly how to use induction and it is what they say it is, fast, and safe. We are building our retirement home elder ready and this is a plus for us, safe , no red burner or gas, shuts off when there is no pot on the burner. Controls are soft touch and can easily be trued on without knowing but GE has a shut off built in to shut down the controls. Lots of safety features, boils quickly, oven is great, love the roll out oven shelve and the overall quality is excellent. The flat glass top is another plus as it is easy to clean. If you think gas is the only way to cook, then you need to try this stove. All of the big gas stove guys are now coming out with theirs and they are mucho bucks more.

Major concerns!

By

from Bushnell, IL, United States

Comments about GE Profile 30 " Stainless Steel Slide-In Induction And Convection Range:

I purchased this wonderful? range for my new kitchen remodel. I used it once and during that use I heard a 'pop' and all parts of the appliance stopped working, stove top and oven. I followed manual instructions and turned off the circuit for the time suggested. When I reset the circuit, I was able to use the oven once and no burner. I have not been able to use it since. I have contacted support and now waiting to get the new part which we think 'may' be the problem. It will be installed next week so my 'real' review will come after that time. I must say that I am very disappointed. I am anxious to use my new induction range.
