Just bought a home that needed a new dishwasher. I've always has GE profile in my previous homes and had always been pleased with quality and look. I waited 3 weeks and did dishes by hand (eeww!) : ) for the past 3 weeks while waiting for the new model to arrive. It still didn't arrive, so I instead opted for this GE, less the "Profile" name. I'm very pleased!! Here's why: 1. I was hesitant with a new model/design because being in Arizona, I have some of the hardest water in the nation -- and I don't have a water softener. While I loved the concept of the water jets everywhere, I was thinking the hard water would easily clog them. I don't think this is going to be the case. There has been NO residue at all on the jets, tub or on my glasses, dishes or plastic. As I've done in the past, I'm using the recommend detergent and rinse aid, it's never worked as well as it does in this dishwasher. 2. Gorgeous streamlines look that will now match any GE appliance in finish and handle! Previously, if you wanted GE Monogram of one appliance, you had to get GE Monogram throughout your kitchen or it wouldn't match. This is no longer the case. : ) 3. Love the bottle washer! It's an awesome feature. I've used it already in several cycles to clean bud vases, sports bottles and plastic. 4. With the heated feature on, my plastic comes out DRY and WITHOUT SPOTS!! This is a first, with any dishwasher I've ever had in the past 25 years. 5. WHISPER QUIET MACHINE! I debated about getting a different brand because of being able to get a quieter machine because my great room is adjacent to the kitchen. There is no need for a machine any quieter than this one! The first time I ran it, I had to open it to be sure it was on. It's barely noticeable and not worth paying a dime more for a quieter machine. 6. My family laughs because I practically wash my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. This time, I didn't and everything came out great! No dried food anywhere While I would have liked the "rinse" feature that is available in the "Profile," I didn't want to wait any longer for it to come to the marketplace. I can tell I'm going to love my dishwasher and I'm pleased that later down the road, I can go with a Monogram Refrigerator and Stove and it will match my dishwasher! Thank you GE for making me happy... again!

We bought this dishwasher to match our set of new GE appliances. We love the look of it and the features, including the "bottle wash" feature. It is so sleek looking and matches all of our new GE appliances, we were thrilled to get it. However, we are planning to return the product because of several issues: 1) There are very few tines on the bottom rack (four rows, compared to seven rows in our previous dishwasher), and they are configured so that you must put the dishes in a certain direction (our previous dishwasher just had straight tines that allowed much more flexibility). It works fine for plates but we struggle every time we try to load the dishwasher to put in cereal bowls, glass/pyrex containers, and serving bowls. Even with the adjustable tines, they do not fit properly, and we feel we have 1/3 less capacity than our old washer. I see other brands on the market all have many more tines to allow more items to stay in place; 2) On the top rack, glasses slide around and also don't stay in place since the bottom of the rack is smooth, rather than having bumped out rows to hold the glasses in place. We love the look of the dishwasher - but we are frustrated every time we try to load it and feel we don't get the capacity out of it that we would get from other dishwashers.

Nothing But Problems!

Comments about GE 24" Black Built-In Dishwasher:
We bought this dishwasher two years ago and within a few months it had sprung a leak underneath from a hose. After battling with warranty work and going without a dishwasher for 3 months it was finally fixed. Now in December the dishwasher won't run unless we lean something up against the door. I ordered and replaced the female end door latch part and that solved the problem for all of 2 weeks. Same issue has risen again and Im not about to spend another dime on GE parts. This was the first and will be the last GE appliance we buy.

Nice looking but issues persist
from Bergen County, NJ, United States
It looks nice and has all the bells and whistles but that's the problem too many moving parts. I have this dishwasher for one year and 2'months after its warranty up it wouldn't cycle just beep and signal issue. Trouble shooting by the manual and online through GE has still left me with questions where turn next. Manual recommends replace heating element, but it's only a year old with minimal use. Where should I turn and the beeping continues?
Super quiet, great washing results
from New York, NY, United States
This is a great dishwasher, so quiet, I can't hear it running when it is on until the water is pumped out and the end of cycle signal sounds. It never ceases to amaze me that the washing results are so great, pit and wine glasses at the same time, never an issue. It needs a lot of rinse aid though to get these results and regular cleaning of the removable parts. On the negative side - installation was a nightmare according to my plumber, as it is very tight under neath. Also, I wish it had an express or shorter cycle as the shortest cycle still takes 47 minutes. - overall, very happy with the purchase.

Great product! I like the black. It's easy to program. And runs so quiet you have to be near it to be sure it's running!

I love the quiet from this dishwasher and the cleaning is great . I have low water pressure so getting a dishwasher that cleans is difficult. This one gets the job done

GE Dishwasher - Disappointing Purchase

Door does not always remain closed - even after the GE Repairman came to replace the door seal and door hinges within the first two months of purchase date. Also the unit runs rather loud.
Soap doesn't dissolve
from Maryland, United States
We bought this brand new, about 2 1/2 years ago. In the past year, after we run it, we notice that the soap is still in the cup. We've tried several different brands, pods, liquid, etc. All to no avail. More often than not, we have to run it twice, the second time without closing the soap cup door, just to clean the dishes. I sit and listen to it to make sure the door opens, and I can hear it, but the soap is STILL in the cup. Beyond frustrated!!!!!
