We were looking for a gas wall oven. We could not believe there was the possibility of having one, plus a broiler. From what we found after careful investigating online, we could have a good quality oven & broiler, for a good price. We bought ours at AJ Madison, where we received discount over discount :) , plus an excellent customer service.When we received our new oven & broiler, I have to say we were very impressed, because it looks a lot better in person! I was worried that maybe I wouldn't have enough space in this oven, as I was used to have the oven of a 30" gas range. Before I bought my new oven, I took measures of some of my ovenware, and then went to a nearby store. I compared these measures with the space in their ovens (of course, I chose an oven siimilar in size to the oven I had in mind for purchasing). After this little exercise, my worries dissapeared completely, because a 24" oven can fit many containers at the same time.? noticed that the wall oven&broilers were not very common, specially one like mine, with the broiling space even wider, and gas.Before I go on, I have to say that in "features" I chose not to give a rating of excellent, because I think the broiler should come with a broiling pan included. It would be great. Plus, to support other owners, who have complained about two things (see the next paragraphs).Well, as I said before, the Maytag oven & broiler is impressive, beautiful in design (I chose the stainless steel finish), and looks fantastic in my kitchen. It attracts a lot of attention. The installation was easy, but we had a professional helping us with this. We thought it would be safer, plus faster. Even the technician was amazed with how simple it was to change from natural gas to propane.Our new Maytag oven & broiler has worked great since the very first moment. Very soon we learned how to operate it. We have baked, broiled, toasted, warmed many dishes. Even my 12 year old daughter is fascinated with this oven. She has baked brownies, cakes and cookies with excellent results (under my supervision!). Whatever I bake in this oven comes out perfect. The first time I used the broiler, it was for some chicken breasts. The results were amazing; the chicken breasts turned into a golden-brown color I thought I would never get if not with a grill or something like that. Plus, the meat was tender and juicy, well cooked too. It is a pleasure to cook anything with this oven & broiler.Some owners have complained that you cannot see the clock when the oven or broiler is working. It is true, so I just don't rely on this clock while I am baking or broiling; for checking the daytime, I just use my wall clock. Maybe an additional screen -two additional screens would be even better- could be added to the control panel, so when it starts working, the clock can still be seen separately from the temperature, and from the cook time.It is wonderful to have the oven tell you when the right temperature (pre-heat) for your baking has been reached, or when your dish is done. Programming the oven for temperature and timing is very easy. I use the TIMER when I am cooking on my cooktop (great bonus I didn't expect!). There is an oven light, which works for both oven and broiler.Some owners have mentioned the heat vent and how uncomfortable it gets for your hands when the oven or broiler is working, if you have to use the control panel at that moment. I use mittens, or very quick movements, to avoid the heat on my hands. Maybe there is some different positioning of the control panel and heat vent that can be considered for future design.What my oven & broiler control panel (completely digital) has:* A digital clock (when the oven or broiler start working, here is where it shows the temperature; if you choose a cooking time, this is what will be displayed during cooking time).* BAKE* BROIL*COOk TIME (for setting time to your baking/broiling; the oven or broiler will automatically be turned off when the time finishes, and there is a high beep sound to let you know)*DELAY TIME (have not used this, yet)*TIMER (I use it when I am cooking on my cooktop, beeps when finishing counting down)*CLOCK (for setting the digital clock with the daytime)*OVEN LIGHT*START*CANCEL*TEMP/TIME (for increasing of decreasing temperature and cooking time; be very careful with the cooking time setting, beause the first time I was about to give 12 hours instead of 12 minutes to some bread biscuits!)Before I forget, yes, I have broiled and baked at the same time, because the fire will be the same for both spaces (oven and broiler).Easy to clean! (manual clean)

Unfortunately, I had to replace an older model double oven encased in oak cabinetry I was VERY limited on my options. I would only recommend this item if you have the same sizing issues. Current Maytags are NOT the quality of earlier Maytags. At least not this model. Oven feels cheap and tinny. Since this appliance is NOT shown in showrooms, I had to purchase it sight unseen. And digital controls are made to fizzle out after so long forcing you to replace. (big complaint by consumers on other boards) Would have preferred individual dials as they LAST LONGER! Like I said, I needed an oven for 26" opening and not a lot of choice out there. One feature I detest is that the broiler (on the bottom) is what heats the upper oven!! So the broiler is constantly running which means you CANNOT store anything in the lower compartment. VERY ANNOYING. Must have been designed by someone who doesnt cook. I own Maytag washer(1980) Maytag dryer & Maytag dishwasher(1992) All in great running order! The higher quality of the materials used in my other Maytags is so obvious compared to the "cheapening" done by Whirlpool. who now owns Maytag. Sigh.....please go back to making quality AMERICAN made products with AMERICAN made parts!

The package was full of broken glass that fell out all over the floor when we opened it. We think they had replaced a broken one in manufacturing and did not remove the pieces. It was all over inside the oven housing and we could not get it all out. There was a door seal piece missing and we had to go to a local Maytag facility to pick it up before we could use the oven.
didn't realize I have this oven sitting dead in my kitchen.

I have had this for a couple of years but don't understand why the control panel always starts out by sliding when hot and eventually you can't "stick" it back on....I now have a dead oven and minimal choices I'm not sure which brand to try next.....Fed up

Control Panel gets HOT !

The oven appears to work but after it heats up to desired temperature. It is difficult to program how long you want to cook. The vent is just below the panel so when you try to program your fingers can get burnt. Poor design could probably be fixed if they just flared the bezel on top of the vent.

Have had oven for one month. Purchased to replace older Maytag oven of same size whose door hinges had given up. Self installed with no problems. All features work and great to have for garden produce broiling. Wife's only comment was "I like it".
Just Be Aware Of A Part Problem

After 9 years, we had to replace our Maytag oven with the same model number, because the part needed to repair the oven is NOT available! Same is true of the new oven, so I would recommend taking the extended warranty. Overall it is a good, well made product.

I've only had it for a few days but it seems to be very good. I've never had a gas oven before so it is taking a little getting used to. I'm not sure if the temperatures are correct, so I asked the local Maytag repairman what to do. His advice was to buy a package of Pillsbury biscuits, cook them precisely according to the directions, and if they turn out the way they should then the temp is correct. Hmmmmm????The reason for 4 Stars rather than 5 is the timer ... if you need 60 minutes you have to punch the + button 60 times ... appears technology hasn't quite caught up to this function. Then, if you want to cancel, and you hit "cancel", it cancels everything including the oven ... so, you have to start all over again. They do warn you about this in the directions, but it is so illogical (to me) that I've definitely learned by trial & error.I read tons of reviews on this oven and they were all very positive with the exception of little quirks, that is the reason I bought it, as well as it was one of the few that fit my very limited space.Another issue is the heat vents ... there is no duct from the oven thru the ceiling. My contractor thought this was strange so we called Maytag direct. The operator also thought it was strange but upon asking her superior was told that's the way it's built. If you live in a warm climate like I do, the desert, be prepared for alot of heat in the kitchen. Fortunately I don't bake much so when I do I will just have to wait for winter.

with some nice features for using the timer when cooking. Quite frankly, it's nice, but nothing spectacular. You'd think, for $1,100, they'd include a broiler pan. Instead you get some brochures to buy that and other accessories.

Replaced my Maytag 24-inch wall gas oven 2 months ago due to power surge that burned the control unit. This is my second Maytag gas oven. The first oven survived for seven years with no maintenance at all. The only problem was.that Maytag does not have parts to repair after 7 years
