KitchenAid Architect Series II Stainless Steel Countertop Convection Microwave Oven, Model KCMC1575BSS

This countertop microwave oven operates at 1200 watts of microwave power and includes a separate 1500 watt convection element that allows you to use this microwave as a true second oven. In addition to convection, you can also grill and roast similar to a conventional oven. Nine quick-touch cooking cycles include three sensor cycles that simplify operation.

Features:

  • 1500 Watt Convection Element
Circulates heat around the back of the oven to allow convection baking at temperatures up to 425°F.
  • Roast Function
Helps create the even results required for exceptonal roasting by alternating traditional microwave cooking with convection cooking to surround food without hot spots.
  • Grill Function
Allows grilling results similar to a conventional oven. A rack that comes with the microwave gets heated during the grilling process to give meat a great sear that locks in flavor.
  • 9 Quick-Touch Cycles Including Three Sensor Cycles
Takes the guesswork out of getting exceptional cooking from your microwave. The microwave will automatically adjust cooking time based on a menu of preprogrammed, menu-driven cycles.
  • 13 1/2" Recessed Turntable
Helps evenly cook food by continually rotating throughout the cooking cycle. The turntable is sunken into the bottom of the microwave to maximize the capacity.
  • Accepts 30- or 27-Inch Trim Kit
Allows you to install your countertop microwave into an existing cutout for a more integrated appearance.
  • 1.5 Cu. Ft. Capacity
This microwave oven has a large capacity that allows you to use it as a complement for your conventional oven.

The most common complaint about the KitchenAid microwave is the glitchy door--and if it won't close, it can't operate. I bought online, but if you can check the actual model you're buying, that's not a worry. That said, my door closes fine. It has a lot of controls, but this model also convection-cooks, which uses different controls than microwaving. We bought this one because it has the least complaints about the convection feature compared with other brands. It could have a little more power for convection, but that might make it overheat. So just plan to convection-cook food the same length of time as a regular oven, and be glad you're not heating an entire oven.
Don't pay a lot for ANY microwave, DON'T buy the ones that install over a stove--too much stovetop heat damages the microwave, and dont bother with a warranty. This is a microwave, not a high-precision machine. No one will fix it for less than the price of replacement. We bought this because we didn't want the cost of a second full-size oven and so far it's fine.

Microwave may be rated at 1200 watts, but seems less powerful than a 1000 watt unit it replaced. Steams up and does not vent properly through the trim kit. Convection oven does not cook food thoroughly or evenly. Microwave has very limited automatic reheat features. In short, a very disappointing product.

Great features!

Comments about KitchenAid Architect Stainless Microwave:

We had to replace our built in microwave and oven. We are having fun experimenting with the convection and microwave oven. The convection is great for baking a few cookies or heating a small pizza or frozen dinner without turning on the big oven. The microwave is awesome and very powerful.

Very nice micro wave, however I wish it had express buttons, so you could just push 1 for 1 minute, 2 for two minutes

Poor Performance

By

from New Jersey, United States

Comments about KitchenAid Architect Stainless Microwave:

I bought a month ago and had a replacement provided within 3 weeks because steam collects between the glass panes of the door. The replacement unit received last week has the same condition. I love the unit; great features but I do not want to see stains on glass door.

Very Functional!

By

from Justice, IL, United States

Comments about KitchenAid Architect Stainless Microwave:

I love having the convection oven feature with my microwave. I have three small children and it's perfect for making their lunches in. I like being able to make small portions without having to heat my entire large oven. I also love having the grilling feature and am surprised at how well things like hot dogs and veggies are turning out. I would highly recommend this product!

Disappointed

By

from Texas, United States

Comments about KitchenAid Architect Stainless Microwave:

I just received the product along with a 24 inch built in convection oven. the door sticks and needs to be opened & closed several times before the microwave will work. Since it is part of the Architect II Series I expected the microwave to match the conventional oven. The key pad is plastic, rather than glass, the LED Display is white but the conventional oven display is green. I tried to bake a pie in the convection microwave, after 1 and a half hours it was still runny; so I finished in the conventional oven. I think the conv microwave will be used as a warming oven and microwave; as opposed to a double oven. Poor value for the money.
