This is my second review of this machine- -Does a great job of cleaning my dishes , runs super quite, seems very well made! Only issue is that one of the countdown bars in the little front window burned out and was replaced under warranty ! Also the CLEAN sign in the front display says CLEAN EVEN WHEN rinse & hold is used, makes no sense to me !! BUT I love this machine very much!! T.Y.

Bought this in July 2015. We are now pre scrubbing every single item loaded into the dishwasher. We have spent the last 2.5 months trying to find ways to load it that food is not left on plates, glasses, and silverware. We have tried different detergents, different rinse agents, and even water conditioners,to no avail. We run the dishwasher about once a day. The dishwasher has unique racks that took time to figure out but even on the bottom rack with space between the dishes, food is stuck on and hen dried on with the drying cycle. It's quiet. Cycles run a long time, but are average 70-90 minutes. Pro cycles don't improve results. We have had 3 other Kitchen Aid dishwashers and loved them. Wish there was a 90 day guarantee on these. We hate this one and hate that we had to pay so much more for something that does not work as well as older models. We are now hoping it lives a short life so we can replace after 5 years instead of 10. We probably won't ever by KitchenAid again as new models should be easier and clean better than previous models. I miss our 2012 model in the old house.

Great machine, Terrible lower dish rack
from Los Angeles
The Kitchenaid dishwasher I bought was fairly expensive compared to other machines. It works perfectly. However, when I load my dinner plates into the lower rack the tines/ spines/ separators do not keep the dishes from crashing into each other. There is a really stupid design flaw that enables you to lower the back portion of the lower rack to facilitate adding large bowls. That same feature, when lifted for large plates for daily use, makes the tines/spines /separators not line up with each other! I asked the company if there is a alternative lower dish rack and there is not. They really didn't get this one right.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Like other reviews, this dishwasher was not worth the money
from Acwroth, GA
Just like several other reviews, the top part breaks (leaving the top rack hanging) and the smell is awful in this dishwasher. I've lived in my house 11 years (built it) and this is the 2nd Kitchen Aid dishwasher I've had and have had nothing but trouble with them. I'd choose another brand next time!
DO NOT PURCHASE!
Doesn't even get one star but you have to pick at least one. I have two of these dishwashers, first one burned out less then one year after installation. KitchenAid couldn't locate a new circuit board and therefore had to replace the entire unit. 6 months later, the second one has burned out. I am now on the phone with support and because the dishwasher, "is so far outside of warranty" that I now have to pay, $90.00 for a service company to come and tell me that the control board has burned up, and I suspect that I will be told that a new board cannot be located and I will have to replace the unit, which I suspect I will be told I will have to pay for, you know, because of the awesome warranty on this quality product. If you are looking for a dishwasher that only runs for 12-18 months before replacement, this unit is perfect for you. If you are looking for a dishwasher that will give you years of uninterrupted service I suggest you run far away from KitchenAid. I also had the pleasure of speaking with Alysa in their support department, who could not have been more rude, condescending and completely unwilling to listen to my issue or provide any level of help in any way. It's really that level of customer service and product quality that sets KitchenAid apart from the others for me :)
Peace and quiet
Love it except have to clean with stainless cleaner once a week

Cheap plastic parts break off, rendering the top useless
from Seattle, wa
We have had this dishwasher for 2.5 years and after a year the plastic that connects the upper drawer to the rollers started degrading and breaking apart. Now, anytime we pull out the top drawer, it simply falls off the railings and comes crashing down. Clearly not a good thing when it's loaded with glasses.I'm surprised that such an expensive dishwasher would use such cheap plastic parts that clearly can't withstand the environment they are suppose do operate in.

Second unit in two years due to FAILURE.
from Wheaton, IL
This is the second unit we've had of this kind in the last two years. The last unit broke in Jan. 2016 after two years and could not be repaired after FOUR ATTEMPTS. The repair tech spoke to the factory rep. and nothing worked. Replaced (3) circuit boards (2) control panels and (1) fan assy. Fortunately, ABT replaced the unit free of charge. Otherwise, this would have been the LAST Kitchenaid/Whirlpool appliance I would purchase.

Top rack issue, foul odor, and overall flimsy design
from Toledo, OH
We've had this dishwasher for about 2.5 years. We have had many repair issues. The motor burnt out after the top rack failed and a dislodged piece was injested. This was replaced by the KitchenAid warranty.Recently, the upper level wash came free of the mounting bracket. The mounting bracket was loose and I bent the bracket by hand (too pliable) in order to resecure the washing mechanism.Lastly, I'm not sure this is the dishwasher fault 100%, but the odor coming from the dishwasher is needs to be addressed weekly. Without weekly cleaning the odor continues to return.Would not recommend this product.
