I purchased the 1380Slim grinder mainly because of the very small diameter of the barrel, which allows me to work confidently using only one hand. I've used other grinders one-handed before, but always with a death grip, fearing I'd drop the thing and watch the blade explode into a million pieces.

Bought yesterday, eager to do some wire brush buffing with it. Has terrible hand vibration. My hands were numb from the vibration within 2 minutes. Couldn't believe how bad it was. I am not highly sensitive to hand vibration. I use power mowers and power tools daily without any hand vibration issues. This Bosch 1380 Slim is extremely bad for hand vibration. I fortunately didn't toss the packaging so I should be able to return it.

Great Grinder but no Spanner Wrench!!
from Athens, GA, United States
Comments about Bosch Tools 4-1/2" Small Angle Grinder:
I bought this grinder to replace an old worn out grinder to work inside dryer cans on paper machines. Got it at a big blue box store and when I got it to the jobsite surprise, NO SPANNER WRENCH!! Had to improvise to get a disc attached by using a pair of needle nose pliers. After that the grinder performed flawlessly and still does. Have had the tool for about four months and works great. Really like the smaller size as I am working in some tight spaces at times. All in all great grinder but Bosch, please make sure the spanner wrenches are in the box!

The size of this grinder makes it comfortable to hold and use. I have three grinders and this one is my favorite. The switch can be a little touchy. You must take care to push the switch all the way forward to make sure it fully locks on and if you accidentally touch it tends to slide to the off position.
Easy on and off, change disc easily

Great Woodcarving Tool
I bought this grinder for use as a woodcarving grinder. It's slim design and no vibration make it a pleasure to use. I have a Lancelott chainsaw disk that the tool preforms flawlessly with and is excellent in use for removing excess stock from my carvings. Then change to a sanding disk to touch-up my carvings. I highly recommend this tool for anyone desiring a high quality small grinder work-horse.
Great Grinder but one shortcoming!
from Athens, GA
Have had this tool for about three months. Without a doubt it is a great tool and has performed without fault. I have used this grinder on both home projects as well as work projects. I bought this particular grinder due to its size in order to use it in tight spaces and overhead work in paper mills. It is far easier to use than other grinders I have used in the past and is lighter and more comfortable. I use it in paper mills to grind down machine frames and stainless bracketry and without a doubt it has performed flawlessly. Additionally, I have used it at home as a cutoff and grinder on masonry pavers on a landscaping project. I was a bit hesitant to use it on masonry but so far it has performed without flaw and has lived up to Bosch standards for quality and durability. The only complaint I have is that the guard does not have a quick release method for adjusting or removing the guard. Considering most all other tool companies employ a quick release system on their guards I just cannot understand why Bosch would have not put one on this grinder. This is a time consuming hassle when working in mills and is a pain. However, overall this is the most comfortable grinder to use and high quality.

Grinder is easy to handle compared to use compared to others I have used.

Got this grinder a couple years ago now and haven't had any problems with it through light use.
Can't use with Type 1A cutting wheels
Bosch does not make the Type 1A wheel guard (even though it's shown in the manual). The Type 1A wheel guard covers both sides of the cutting wheel. Without this guard, this tool is not good for using Type 1A cutting wheels.

I got a tool last month through CPO tool's last month and it's a quality tool; I used it on a small planter box repair, which was 4'x3'x3" thick concrete and 25 bricks -- worked liked a champ
