I've owned this saw for almost a year now. As other reviewers mentioned this saw is true right out of the box and stays true even with constant transportation in a trailer. The overall quality of this saw is top notch. The axial glide arm is what truly sets this apart from any other saw on the market. As shipped the glide action is set to very smooth movement but can be adjusted for a stiffer glide action. I personally have left it at the factory setting. After one year the arm glides as smoothly as it did on the first day. Most of my use of this saw has been for cutting framing material. The integrated rafter pitch angles is a welcome feature and has sped up my productivity in custom roof construction by atleast 10%. If I were to able to improve the angle markings and rafter pitch markings I would make the lines thinner since the width of the lines on the guide can represent about a half a percent of a degree if you are not paying close attention when setting. The upfront controls are fantastic and one of the major reason I purchased this saw over the others. The locking mechanisms still work as good as they did the first day. The override indent lever works well but can be easily tripped back to the locking position when working with the saw with gloves on in winter conditions. The fence extension wings are a little difficult to slide without frequent cleaning of the saw because the tracks fill with sawdust. This could be easily fixed if the tracks were enclosed on the top but would require the removal lever to be redesigned. The locking levers for both the extension wings and the fence extensions lock tightly every time and can be adjusted to be tighter or looser. The actual location of the locking levers in both the fence and the extension wings are in an awkward location making them difficult to use. To use the fence lock when the fence is extended you either must approach the lever between the fence and the base or from over the fence. When the fence is locked tightly this usually results in rapped knuckles because of it's location and the size of the lever. The base extension wing locking levers on the other hand are more accessible but there is not much room to maneuver the levers when the wings are not extended. If I could make changes to it's design I would try to find a better location for these two elements and perhaps making them bigger. The 12 inch blade and powerful motor are great aspects of this saw and I have yet to run into a problem with lack of power. It does have a downside though. Setting big bevel angles is difficult because of all of this weight. This could be solved if the saw had a spring assisted movement in the bevel plane or a gear driven mechanism. The only feature of this saw that does not have a pro component to it in my opinion is the depth stop. The depth stop is easy to use and adjust but seems like an afterthought feature of the saw. It is not very robust and making less than through cross cuts at a constent and accurate depth is near impossible. I do not think that this is because of the depth stop itself but rather because of a slight amount of movement in the entire arm / motor assembly where it connects to the base of the saw. As for a laser I thought this should be standard equipment when I bought the saw but after using the saw for a year I have since changed my mind. This saw is obviously designed for the professional and I have yet to see a professional that does not align their cuts manually first before comitting to the cut regardless if there is a laser guide or not. For the price of the saw I would have like to have seen the upgraded clamp included. The clamp that comes with the saw has been put in a draw after the first time I used it because it is simply to time consuming to work with. Overall I would recommend this saw to anyone. It's expensive but worth every bit of it's price.

I purchased this saw after several months of research. I chose this saw based on overall reviews and price. Once I had the saw home, I set about checking calibration. I was very disappointed to find that the calibration was not right. If this was set before shipping, then that saw must have a had a rough journey reaching the store. The next issue was with the dust collection. There is a dust collector on the saw, but I am not sure what it really collects. After a couple trips to the store to find adapters so that I could hook a shop vacuum to the collector, I thought the collection problem would be solved. That was not the case. I saw very little difference in the amount of dust collected.

Glide Mechanism seems to be twisted
Comments about Bosch Tools 12" Dual-Bevel Glide Miter Saw:
When I set the blade to 90 degrees using a machinist's combo square, I will get burning on the left side of the cut and friction marks on the blade. The blade is square to the table but it moves from right to left as the cut is made. Next I used a dial indicator mounted to the blade with a square on the table and adjusted the miter setting so the blade would sweep down at 90 degrees. Then I checked the blade and found it to be out of square by about 3 degrees. I haven't found any information on adjusting the throw of the glide mechanism. I believe the problem is with the glide mechanism, though I don't see any stress marks or other damage in the glide linkage. I like the idea of the glide mechanism and that it can be pushed right up against the wall. However, as it stands, this miter saw is not suitable for precision cuts.

great for small shop
from Preston, ID, United States
I bought this saw a few months back and it is perfect for my small shop. With a few minor adjustments out of the box I was making straight cuts in no time. With my small hobby shop, space is a premium and with the glide design I am able to put this saw right up against the wall. The only thing that I have decided that could make this saw better is if it had a built in light so that you can see the pencil marks better in dim lighted rooms.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I am glad I waited in purchasing a sliding compound miter saw. The biggest selling point was that it fits on my 24" standard depth workbench without poking into the wall with rail systems of other saws.
Great Saw, needs a dual laser feature

I love this saw. The axial glide arm is effortless to use. It was dead on accurate out of the box. My only wish is that it had a dual laser line for making super accurate cuts on crown molding. I would love to see a laser attachment that wasn't a washer. ...oh, and make it one of those really bright green lasers for us "old foggies."

What? No Laser
from Vancouver, WA, United States
Great design, however I would expected there to be a laser or an add on accessory laser available. For this design and price point, I would have spent a little more just for a laser guide
Love that it fits up against the wall.

This could be the very best saw money can buy. Up front controls, easy to adjust, built in extension wings and very accurate. The axial glide is tremendous. However, the lack of a built in laser or LED blade shadow light, the only real drawback with this saw, makes spending the extra money hard to justify. And the extra cost "blade laser washer" is a waste of money, indoors or out as it is only good on the left side of the blade and very dim.

1500 watt motor, Laser no good found in a luckybag I think

I bought this for my husband so I was really sure if he would like it or not but he absolutely loves it! He said it works great and I couldn't have gotten a better one for the price I paid.

Been using it a bunch and it's an excellent saw. No adjustment required out of the box, so that's a big plus. Changing angles is super easy and keeps it's setting once engaged. Only possible downside is the weight, but I also have the gravity rise table.
